I'd pay good money to see John Doe vs. Keyser Söze...
Kevin Spacey nominated for double best actor, LOL.

This movie is going to be pure cheese. Sure it's going to have lots of flashy scenes, but the storyline, chronology, and characters are going to suck hard. The original Dark Horse comic is probably the best you could do with this concept. Two things are going to sink this boat before it even sets out to sea:
1. ) It's from the director of Resident Evil
2. ) It's a "prequel" (aka 'Sh1t! We're out of original ideas!') to Alien
1 B ) It's from the production company of Resident Evil, Davis Films.
Davis also snatched the film rights for the Silent Hill movie. They must have realized that making video game-based movies is a sure thing since kids and idiots go see it anyway, no matter how lame it is.

What? LWR to me was a bunch of rehashed backgrounds, MS, and music from the previous released Gundam games (Zeonic Front, 0079 PS2, and to some extent the Dreamcast one, 0079 Gaiden). They threw in a few MS more, and some unneccesary dating sim type animations. I though it was poorly put together game. It seemed to me like something to keep the fans mildly interested while they finished up the second 0079 PS2 game.
FYI, the Gundam in 0079/Journey to Jaburo moved at about the speed and responsiveness of a Zaku II in Lost War Chronicles. They might have recycled some maps (the music was re-recorded and re-arranged, BTW) but there were more than "a few MS" added:
- Z-Gok E
- Zaku FZ
- GM Cold District Type
- GP01
- Xamel
- Dom Tropen
- Gelgoog
- GM Ground Combat Model
- Ez8
- Gouf Custom
- Efreet Kai
- Mudrock
That's a dirty dozen right there.
I'll give you that the "dating sim" was slapped together without much production value, but the improved engine and controls were enough to make this game much more enjoyable than 0079/JtJ, which does feel slapped together overall.

The first time I read their comments I thought they were implying that the GameCube's system could not deliver the kind of quality game they were making, but the SKU gave it away that they'd rather spend time on improving the quality of the PS2 and Xbox versions than to make a GC version since the GC's sales track hasn't been good enough to justify their time and resources.
PCs took over Macs. VHS beat out Betamax. Inferior goods have been known to beat higher quality competitors in the marketplace.

Ah yes, Boom Stick Good! Deadites Bad!

Bruce Campbell mentioned in an interview that Ash may appear in the next Freddy vs Jason movie, if the people in charge can come to an agreement as to which character comes out on top.
I am surprised no one has listed a Planet of the Apes movie yet, thought those were really popular.

1) Lost War Chronicle was axed mainly because it was turned down by Sony. They didn't think it was "good enough" and that it wasn't significantly better then the previous PS2 Gundam games released.
Fortunately, things are looking good so for the US release of Encounters in Space.
What Bandai told you doesn't sound like a satisfactory explaination. Anyone who played all 3 games will agree that LWC was a vast improvement over Journey to Jaburo and looks, sounds, and plays better than Federation vs Zeon, yet Sony deemed J2J and FvZ good enought for release in the US, but not LWC? Something's not adding up here. They've approved plenty of bad games that are way worse than LWC, just take a look at any game store shelf if you need proof.

More bad news for the Big N and Cube owners:
Terminator 3 and Driver 3 for GC cancelled
Read the developer's comments about their decision to ditch the GC version.

I tend to like movies that are dark in tone. Movies like The Crow, Fight Club, Pitch Black, Grosse Point Blank. The darker and more twisted, the better.
Ever seen Ichi the Killer?
I'm not even gonna post a link to the trailer, it'll get me banned...

Edit in:
For me, anything directed by David Cronenberg is good stuff. I have yet to see a movie he made that I didn't like. Too bad he's gone very indie these days, I had to catch his latest on DVD because so few theaters were showing it. I can understand why he doesn't like doing big studio movies... I think Paramount made him get a more mainstream composer (Michael Kamen, instead of his usual scorer Howard Shore, who's now an Oscar winner thanks to the LOTR trilogy) when he did The Dead Zone. Fox is still sitting on his Naked Lunch, not releasing it on DVD...

And is that a hint of camel toe I see?!

Aw man, why you gotta give away the game's big twist ending before it even came out?

I have the G-Saviour game soundtrack and it's the biggest waste of $ ever... makes the Macross M3 game music sound like Beethoven.
It'd be pretty sad if the G-Saviour game, one of the earliest PS2 titles, remains that good when they've had quite a few years to improve everything from graphics to gameplay...
-
Pretty funny how everyone replied to Ladic with the same thing.

I think the PS2 does so well is because no matter how many times a PS2 system stops working, there are people who go out and buy new systems.

oro? *knock on wood* mine is stil up and running
So is mine... and mine is one of the earlier generation models.
As much as I love the DC, I hardly play it these days. That nasty noise its drive makes just makes me prefer spending more time with the PS2 even though there are more fun games on the DC.
PS2 may be the lamest console out right now, but Sony was smart to keep it backwards compatible. Even if PS1 and PS2 have a big crap-to-good-games ratio, it still ends up with more games people want to play than the other 2 systems. Having a Macross game coming certainly doesn't hurt any. Folks like Graham won't buy the Cube even if it's $0.99 if it doesn't have a Macross game.

ESB is boring. Cept for the later Besping Scenes(saber fight, carbonite chamber)
Episode 6 has the best space battle and most climactic battle(maybe until Episode III [crosses fingers]). Etcetera...
For me ESB was boring after the Empire was done with the Rebel ass-kicking on Hoth. Everything afterwards was just anticlimatic with no cigarette to enjoy.

Can't think of any space battle scenes from Ep 6 as exciting as the Trench Run in Ep 4...
STAY ON TARGET!

I thought GameCube had a healthy marketshare. Guess not... unless they've got a new console ready to roll out and need to get rid of the current crop of consoles.

Am I the only one who's been following this game for the past year?!?
Anyways, yes, it's from Sega. It's a sequel to Shinobi. Supposed to be easier (thank God). Game is called Kunoichi. (Not her name, that's WHAT she is. Just like Shinobi--his name is Hotsuma. The kunoichi in the last game was Ageha).
Corrent, Kunoichi is Japanese for female ninja. No one actually uses it as a name except for gaijins without a good grasp of Japanese.

The game is actually a spinoff rather than sequel to Shinobi, as the storylines are not related.
I think I prefer her masked:

Plus a few Chinese bootlegs. B)

The unmodded PS2 won't boot any backups, legal or not.
Sometimes you might want to play your PS1 game on the PS2 instead. The PS2's powerful enough for you to run a PS1 emulator on overclocked mode. This allows some of the PS1 games to run with better texturing/graphics and/or smoother. Tenchu 2 was one such game that played much better on the PS2 than it ever was on PS1.

The games are all dubbed, sub is not even an option.
Same deal with the shows they put on TV.

1) There were a few reasons why Lost War Chronicles was not released, and I believe a lack of a coherent story line was one.
2) Ghiren's Greed will probably NOT see the light of day here because there is probably not enough demand for a Gundam strategy game here in the US (I know I would buy it).
3) Encounters in Space, which is currently scheduled for a US release in December, is the direct sequel to Journey to Jaburo. One of the PS2 packages for it in Japan includes a revised version of JTJ with improved gameplay. Hopefully Encounters plays better then JTJ!

4) The PS2 version of AEUG vs. Titans is slated for release in Japan in December. It would be sweet if a US version is released to coincide with whatever is going on with the US release of Zeta next year.

1) Like the lack of a coherent story line has stopped Bandai from releasing crapfest games like those "Gundam Battle ASSault" games here. They probably fumbled when ditching the original dubbing studio that did the OYW OVAs and MSG in favor of some Canadian non-union shop, so fat chance of hearing consistent VAs on the US Gundam games, if they come out at all. The 0079 crew will also sound vastly different in Zeta Gundam, since they will be voiced by totally different people.
2) Bandai is simply too lazy to translate all the names, not to mention grabbing dozens of VAs to record the lines in English.
3) You speak of the limited edition box, which retails for ¥12,800, roughly $107 US dollars.
4) Based on the "something comes out in the US, we'll have something better that's Japan-only" pattern, I see AEUG vs Titans a Japan-only title now that Fed vs Zeon is available in US (see earlier post regarding model releases and LWC vs J2J).

I think im gonna be sick

Trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet. No one has posted them Man Faye photos yet...

I did point out it was a rumor in the original message if you missed that... the article itself also told people to take this with a grain of salt.

Well he can do what he wants since Star Wars does belong to him. People will buy it no matter what it seems.
All his Star Wars are belong to him?

OK, I know this might be slightly off-topic, but I hope the mods don't delete it.
Last weekend I played on a PS2 and now I want one.
But since some games are either not available in Europe (pe. RT: Battlecry) or are sort of censored (pe. Vice City) I want a modded PS2 so I can play import games.I already saw a cool offer, a modded PS2 with 2 games and RGB cable for 269 euros (thats roughly 290 USD). But since I'm a total newbie to everything PS2 maybe you guys can help me with a coupla questions:
1.) The chip they used for modding the PS2 in the offer is supposed to be a chip called "Matrix", but I couldn't find any info about that chip anywhere on the net. Does anyone know something about this chip and its features?
2.) Does a modded PS2 also enable you to play import DVDs (for me everything not RC2)?
3.) Can you play import games on an un-modded PS2?
Thnx everybody...

1) Doesn't matter what chip you get, eventually it will become obsolete and you will need to replace it because Sony distributes mod-detect lockup schemes to game publishers and this scheme is frequently updated to keep up with new mod chips. There is at least 1 new chip out that uses Flashware to address this problem, but we do not know if Sony will come up with a solution to counter that specific chip (e.g. detecting the presence of the Flashware-ready chip by looking for the chip's presence rather than its content).
2) Generally no. There may be some new mod chips that allows you to view import DVDs but I am not aware of any.
3) No.
If you are primarily getting the PS2 to play import games, might as well buy an import console and save yourself all the trouble. At least it is guaranteed to work with all new games from that region.

Didn't see anyone mention this rumor... word has it that besides the new Padme footage Lucas is shooting for the original trilogy, he's entertaining the idea of redoing Ep 4's light saber fight between Obiwan and Vader using digital doubles to make them look more exciting.
I sure hope Sir Alec Guiness is not rolling in his grave.

Technically STARS and the Police Dept were all part of Umbrella since Chief Irons was working for them, they just didn't know it.
Yep... and if you consider that Wesker worked for Umbrella too... it makes STARS even more part of Umbrella.
Nope, that just makes Wesker a mole for Umbrella. If STARS was an Umbrella unit, they wouldn't dare to destroying company properties.
