Could be the rumor that has been flying around that Frontier will get a US DVD release. Normally, I'd discount this completely, but I did hear it from a normally very reliable source.

Lets just pray that that liscense goes to bandai and not bandai visual so we don't end up paying $40 for 3 episodes of subbed only anime. If that's the case I'll stick with the fansubs

Alright, this is irking me. When I bought my ps3, I had to buy an HDMI cable for it to hook up to my HDTV, so I picked the cheapest one up at Target(and it still wasn't exactly cheap). I do all my movie playing on my ps3. Occassionally when I boot everything up and view a disc, there's a buzzing in the audio. If I unplug and plug the HDMI cable, it corrects itself.
What's causing this and the best way to fix it? It's some kind of static build-up, I assume. Is it a cheap and poorly shielded HDMI cable issue? Or my ps3 being behind the tv? Something not grounded that I need to ground? Combination of all that?
Probably a poor cable (cheaply made). Both me and 2 of my brother in laws have had a lot of luck with the component one you can buy from playasia for $20. It Has a switch for PS3, Xbox360, and Wii. It works great...no interference perfect color and none of that nasty sound lag you get from HDMI going into a receiver first.

If Bandai's new creative division is actually behind this, you're just making things harder for yourself, and spending more money in the process for the very same toy.
Actually, with the exchange rate, $5 cheaper price and SAL shipping it cost me an extra $3 to get it from japan and not have that toynami sticker on them.
-
I for one will be buying mine through HLJ. I'd rather have bandai receive all the profits than toynami seeing a dime. Personally I don't trust toynami one bit...it just as likely that they will screw up the box with their rotten sticker.
I wouldn't be surprised if this all falls through and those who preorder through outlets using toynami get shafted. Sorry to say it but this is what I think is going to happen.

I'm very happy with the Shinsen subs versions. Super reliable.
I'm running a sup'ed up laptop with 4gigs memory and dual core processing using a clone or dual display config to my 42inch plasma after being upconverted in my receiver to HD. I very rarely have problems with any fansubs (I watch a ton of anime and only have problems with about 1% of what I watch). I usually use VLC but also test with Zoom player, Media player classic, core media player, and Windows media player.
I had a lot of problems with the AIA and Gattai (jittery and some freezing...plays for 3 seconds and then stutters then another 3 seconds of play then stutters ext.).
I was having a great time with AonE but suddenly the subs font started showing up way too big in episode 2. Unfortunate since I've always like their work.
Hope the feedback helps.

Got my new Aquarion! Now I just have to wait until I'm done grading papers before I mess with it. Anyone know where I can find the directions translated or translation of the little book that comes with it.
BTW it looks awsome.
CHeers.

wow niiiiice. So have you done up a special colour pilot for the Thunder hammer Valk? DYRL? or TV? Stealth?

Have you given the valk a designated name? Just Thunder Hammer VF-1S?

God I can't believe I missed this post.
I'm so late to the ball game...are there any left? PM Sent to exo. Holy Crap! -
I had problems with episode 05 .mkv using VLC in both PC and Mac. mainly video jitter. For now I am just trying to collect the mpeg4 AiA subs.
By the way does anyone know a way to get the mpeg4 files to DVD that keeps the wide angle aspect. I have tried to put them in final cut pro and DVD studio pro and they will not accept it. Then I tried to encode them as mpeg2 and wav on my pc in canopus procoder but the video did not work. I also tried mpeg stream clip and that did not work. Finally I tried burn but it did not keep the wide angle so playing it on a TV cut off the edges and major portions of the subtitles too.
Any ideas?
try some of the other players.
or
use the shinsen-subs versions and upconvert to HD through a receiver then to your tv. They are really reliable.

All 3 people I know that picked this up hate it. They wish they'd have never purchased it. They all hate the driving and find the gameplay to be nothing really different from previous versions. Also one of them is having a nightmare with freezing on his PS3. Even after the supposed fix.

Please say that somebody is still planning on recasting these for those of us who only got one Ride armour.

Does anyone use a mac?
I did have a little bit of trouble with the gattai mkv on the VLC with the subs getting all garbled up one word on top of the other and then some video jittering.
Anyone with a mac know of a good way to watch the mkv files?
I didn't have any problem with the gattai subs just stuttering of the whole thing. At some pts it look like stop motion animation. Play for 2 seconds stutter play for another 2 etc.

Ok heres a new one: has anyone had a piece missing froma kit before? i have a Wing Zero Ver Ka which is missing a part of one of the shoulder pads.
Does Bandai replace parts of kits?
I had a gouf MG kit that was missing part of its head...I was so pissed. I still have found a way to get a replacement.

I just got my shipping notice from HLJ. Soul of Aquarion is on the way.

Anybody ever have a rear channel go out on their 5.1 receiver? How'd you fix it? I've had this happen on my sony receiver and want to try fixing it myself before I have to send it in to service since its out of warrenty.

So who's got the highest rank in Warhawk here? I'm a Wingman with about 6000pts.

Do you run Vista on the dell? That's what I think caused the problem for me.
Both, I have 2 identical xps 1710 laptops...my regular home theater one as mentioned above running xp and a second one that I installed vista for the bedroom with 2gigs mem running a DVI to HDMI cable to a LG 32" LCD set to either clone or dual screen. The vista copy is a tiny bit more glitchy but still works fine once its started.
BTW there is a new update for VLC on the web...just open VLC and do an update search through it.
I also have a host of codecs on my machine...I know that most people say you should have too many but I have good luck with high memory machines packed with codecs. off the top of my head I put these on every computer I own:
-Current DIVX
-FFDshow
-CCCP
-VOBsub
-Angelpotion
-Nemo codec pack
I also add:
-Realplayer
-Zone player
-core media player
-Media player classic
-Windows media player
-Quicktime
-Shockwave
Every once and a while I'll have a conflict but its pretty rare. I also try to stick with the better subbers.
-
Dubbed anime should have been dead years ago. This whole scenario would be much more appealing though, if Japan didn't bone themselves on DVD/Blue Ray prices. Though 7 years ago they were at $99 per disc, so maybe in a few more years, they'll go down to normal levels.
I disagree...if I want subbed anime I can simply download a fansub. I prefer the dubs in most cases because I read too much already...sometimes one wants to just sit down and relax and not miss the action while reading.

When I got my current Vista laptop I installed CCCP and MPC on it too, but it froze up on me within minutes. That's why I went with VLC. Untill I got the Gattai release of Mac F it worked great, but I did experience the weird giant sub fonts on mkv files every once in a while.
I use my dell xps laptop with 2 gig memory and don't have a problem with MKV or H264 files in HD using CCCP codec and VLC while cloning or dual screening my laptop to my 42 inch plasma.
However I did have a problem with one of the releases of macross frontier 2. I think it was just the release because I had no such problems with ep 1 or any other HD content I've downloaded. I'm downloading a different version of ep 2 from a more reliable subber and will try that and wait for ep 3-4 until the reliable subber does it. I think the bad version I had was either gattai or AIA. I'm downloading AonE's version now.
If you can play AonE then your gold.
-
Will they finally use actual Blu-ray cases and not DVD ones?
Great now we can pay more for non subbed anime from bandai visual...God I hate bandai visual. Freakin scam atrists. I vow to never buy an overpriced bandai visual product.
I forsee a bad future for dubbed anime if other companies follow.
-
So... my 360 and PS3 can both read .mp4 files if they're off of a memory card, but they won't stream it from my NAS... wtf?
Will it read them off a DVD? I've tried and can't get them to work or if they do the subtitles won't come up.

I'm looking for a translator to translate a couple of things. First is a 2 page instruction for the Gundam RC digi Haro. Second, would be a translation of the instructions for a gundam digi haro, once I get one. For a fluent japanese speaker/reader I'm sure these wouldn't take more than 1/2 hour each to do.
I'm willing to negotiate for this service...preferrably a trade, translation service for a toy or model.
Thanks
