  1. Hey Everybody,

I didn't know if this should go in the models or toy review section so I put it here in toys since it attaches to the 1/55.

About a month ago I put in an order with Mike (Mslz22) for 2 of his new 1/48 vf1S head, one of his vf1D heads and heat shield. Before the transaction was completed I talked mike into selling me one of his 1/55 elintseeker conversion kits. Anyway during the recasting Mike noticed that the molds needed to be re-done so he re-made his molds and tells me he will be putting up a waiting list soon.

The quality of this kit is amazing. There is a good amount of cleanup to do...but what do you expect when it costs only $75 dollars!!! :o

I have bought recast parts and kits from several of our other macrossworld recasters and must say that Mike's work is right on par with Rob and Jesse. I'm not sure if all of my parts came from the new molds and mike did throw in some extra 2nds for the heck of it so there are a few extra parts in the pics below. Also shown are the heads and heatshields I received.

First off the most distinctive part of the Elint the raydome is perfect. I couldn't be happier. It does have some speckling (don't know what causes that) but I don't see a single airbubble on the entire dish!

The backpack is the same not a single airbubble and it feels very solid for a resin part.

The fastpacks are also perfect with no bubbles or divots. The wings have a lot of flash but nothing that can't be cleaned up in 5 minutes. Leg armor is flawless.

Mike has filled in some of the parts with clay before molding them (like Jesse does)...this gives this kit some real heft to it and seems to make everything a lot stronger. The fastpack sides are filled some.

The biggest challenge I believe will be cleaning up all the little attachment parts for the dome and scanner. The head might need a little work also. Compared to most of you I'm not very skilled at this stuff but I see my cleanup time comming in at around an hour or two. Almost all of which will be spent on the attachment parts. Some of the attachment part have some tiny airbubbles... nothing that won't be solved in 5 minutes with a little putty.

I think that this kit is a real bargin. I'm shocked at how many parts there are and especially by the fact that mike is charging around $75.

Mod's sorry about the pic size but it was required to show the detail.

Everybody, please don't go pm'ing mike until he makes the official announcement. He asked me to write this review when I received the kit but I'm sure he doesn't want to be swamped with mail until he's ready.

    thanks

without further adu... here's the pics :D

  2. What's up with that red battle pod in the picture above. Is this a chase figure... Anybody gotten one of those yet?

Looks cool from what I can tell.

    Also what varients are available?

Too bad they didn't come with fastpacks.

  3. Every couple of months you can find these without the valk for $200-300 on ebay. With a taka valk you might ba looking at $400.

  4. Actually enen though they are in Japanese the macross games are typically easy to understand as far as gameplay goes. If you've watched DYRL or Macross or even Robotech you'll already know the basic story.

Plus if you have any questions the people here in the forums that do speak japanese well are usually happy to answer questions.

  5. ok...

    Eject tray

    Turn power switch off

    Turn ps2 up-side-down

Remove screw toward the front right of tray as you view it now.

Get a sewing needle or tiny screw driver (the kind you use for glasses.

Right under where the screw was there is a little tab...wedge the needle in there and spread the tab a tiny

    bit.

Slowly pull out the right side of tray front as you view it now

Left side will offer resistence but should come out without having to spread tab

Replace screw to where it was previosly located (it holds some sort of pushrod in place)

Installation is complete. ..turn over PS2 and insert appropriate slide disk)

    Slide card insructions.

insert card with hook to the right. Imagine a backward 7 as far as the orientation goes.

Insert slide card about 2cm to the right of the left side of the tray opening (it goes under the tray.

It should go all the way in until it hits the thicker portion of the slide card against PS2

Now slide the card all the way to the right. There will be some resistence, and the tray will pop out a little

using card pull the tray out using the card.

    Place import in tray.

Manually close tray by pushing it in on the left side of the tray. It will catch once or twice on the way in.

Insert slide card again and move it again all the way to the right...

Tray should pop out again...Now keep card there and move it all the way to the left.

    Press X

    Play game

    Hope that helps.

  6. Hey treatment. Why waste your money on another PS2 when you can just get a slide card ($29) to use until X-mas. Around x-mas there will be a legal american released boot disk (they will be carrying them at gamestop stores for $20-30) that will allow your ps2 to play imports and any DVD no matter what the region. Also there is a region free hack for the PS2 DVD player out there somewhere.

Save your money for more macross goodies. B)

  7. Got my slide card today but no game.

Here's a hint...Make sure your slide card is right side up. Its not labeled and seems to only work when the tab with the hook is to the right. Will look somewhat like this:

    oooooooooooooooooo o

    00000000000000000000 00

I played with mine for a 1/2 hour before I realized I had the card up side down

The directions pics are of no help either. Its a pain in the ass until you get the hang of it. you feel like your breaking your PS2. Also use a sewing needle to losen the pins for the cover.

    cheers.

  9. First off...Great that yammie is making a 1/60 GBP!

I'll probably wait for the 1/48 since the 1/60 line has been a total disappointment to me.

What I want to ask is why couldn't Yamato make a simple posable to be encased in the armor? It would have to have the same dimensions as the 1/60 valks. This would solve the problem of loose hips and such that make standing a 1/60 nearly impossible let alone with strike armor on it. I can't see a 1/60 holding up the weight of the GBP armor very well. A simple posable could solve that problem. Next add in a shoulder conversion kit for those who want a transformable 1/60 in it. If they did that I would buy it.

Since they probably won't I'll pass.

    :(

Unfortunately what I forsee is a lot of people screaming about how their GBP can't stand...much like the problems with the elint. this may result in poor sales.

  10. I'm just curious. I know that many of us started out there until we found out the truth behind Robotech. Personally I was booted about 3 times for remarks about the Volume 1 MPC. Haven't been on the site since about the time vol 1 MPC came out and I got totally ripped off. So what do you all think about the site and the majority of people there.

Reason I ask is because of the trouble RT Purist has caused recently.

Please just comment and don't start a war.

  11. As long as the new game is as good as VFX-2 I'll buy it and the slide card. If its not as good I'll probably skip it. It already looks better. I just hope that I can't beat it in a single night like I did with VFx2, M3 and VO.

I need something with enduring playability. An online feature for dogfights would be nice too... I hate split screen fighting.
