1. Z0mGWTFBBQ........the fighter mode is reason enough to get this.....but the robot mode....something doesn't look right. Like kind of unproportionate.

    head small...arms big....i dunno.

    401388

They seemed to have sacraficed the robot mode a little bit to make the best fighter mode. The proportions are a bit off, but I can live with that. What really bothers me is that they made the head sit a little too high off his shoulders. He looks like he has an unusually long and fat neck. Other than that, it looks pretty good to me. It is too bad though that they decided to take the route of making the vehicle mode better than robot. MP Prime was the exact opposite where the truck mode suffered because of the robot mode. But guess what, I can buy a great model of a truck or fighter plane at any model shop. I can only get one MP transformer that looks like Prime or Starscream.

  2. heh actually the cancelled orders have been UNCANCELLED according to nevermore.

Bigbadtoystore, still has the binaltech Dodge Rams up for preorder. I am hoping this will go through as I think an alternators version would look piss poor. BTW, who the hell would want to buy an AFA graded alternator for triple the price? I can maybe understand grading a binaltech, but a cheap plastic toy. AFA grade a SOC or Yamato 1/48. Don't AFA grade a toy that was meant to be played with. Yeesh.

  3. The next alternator...Binaltech Ginrai/ Alternator Optimus Prime. Makes me wanna weep.

I've actually been waiting for a Dodge Ram to be done as an alternator. True, this one should have been ironhide, but I guess Prime tends to sell better. The robot mode is a little funky. I like the vehicle mode a lot, though. I'll probably wait for the binaltech version since I am tired of collecting cheap plastic looking toys. I am really hoping that the black version will look ten times better and possibly will have a different looking head that can pass for ironhide. Custom anybody?

  4. Why bother with a Japanese PS2 when you can just buy a flip top.  For about $30 you can have a flip top that takes 10 minutes to install and then use the included swap disks to play Japanese games.  I've yet to find a Japanese game I can't get to work on my fliptop.  Some will need an extra swap via DVDloader but that's easy to find and download.  If your looking for a low cost/easy method this is the route to go...it doesn't damage your PS2 which I'm sure is past its warrenty anyway (only a year).  Also if you do this you can backup the games you own and resell them back to get some cash back from a gamestop or something.

    339661

Where is the best place to buy this flip top? When you say flip top, are you talking about just buying the slim PS2 that has a top that flips up rather than the slider that comes out then using one of those CDs that somehow trick the PS2 into thinking it is a japanese version?

  5. Do what I did and just buy a japanese PS2 :D It wasn't so expensive, only around 150 dollars ;D No more worrying about stupid mod chipcs that might burn out or become obsolete :D

    335674

That's what I did. I took the more expensive route and bought the limited edition Z Gundam PS2.

    335740

Where did you guys purchase the japanese version of the PS2? Was there a specific online store or ebay seller? Considering a mod chip will cost an extra fifty bucks anyway, I think I would like to go the route of just buying a japanese version. However, I was under the impression that the japanese version can play the US version games, or does it only play Japanese games?

  6. HLJ is clearing some of their BTs. BT-05 Dead End and BT-06 Track both colors are now 60% off.

Just ordered a blue tracks. How does this work with HLJ? I made the order online as a new customer. They sent me an email confirming my order. However, there was never a page I went to that showed me the final price including shipping. On top of that, I never got to a page that said pay now. For people who have experience ordering from HLJ, what am I suppose to do next?

  7. The problem I had with the 9/11 commisions is one; Jamie Gorelick was a commision member, this is a fatal flaw as she was personally involved in the 'wall' erected between law enforcement and intelligence so that info sharing was practically forbidden between agencies. I'm not saying she's Satan or personally responsible for 9/11, but she was part of the problems that lead to 9/11. She should have been a witness.

Second; numerous occaisions where the gallery was stacked with partisan 9/11 family members that had an interesting habit of jeering Bush officials and applauding Clinton officials.

Third; Pres. Clinton's National Security Adviser, Sandy Berger, was actually caught smuggling classified documents out of the National Archives in the midst of the hearings. The documents he smuggled were damaging to the Clinton administration. Incredibly he wasn't sentenced to Jail. If Condi Rice did that, she'd be crucified, burned at the stake, put on the rack and then beheaded.

Fourth; Able Danger was seemingly ignored by the commision, again, the info is embarressing(or worse) to the Clinton Administration. I wonder if the partisan 9/11 families might have been interested in knowing U.S. intelligence was aware of Mohammed Atta and other hijackers BEFORE Bush ever took office. The members of Able Danger should have been star witness's.

With that recent history, I'm just a bit cynical that a 'Katrina Commision' will be anything other than a grand political 'blame it on Bush', feces throwing disgrace that will be used by any number of  2008 campaign wannabes.

    326183

Actually, after reading through the 9/11 commission report, I thought it did put a larger amount of blame on Clinton's administration than the Bush administration. There is a section that talks about how the CIA had a plan to take out Osama Bin Laden, but the operation was called off at the last moment. Also, it talks about how Military higher ups believed Osama Bin Laden was a big threat and some wanted to send in ground troops to get him. However, they were never given the green light to do it. Instead, Clinton authorized missle strikes that were ineffective because Osama was constantly moving so by the time the strike happened, he would already be gone. To me the commission just presented the information, and you as a reader needed to decide how you felt about it.

Now with the levee plugged up, even Bush has said he wants the relief effort investigated. Why? For obvious reasons.

    http://news.yahoo.com/fc/US/Bush_Administration/

Click on video of Bush vows probe.

We need to figure out what went wrong during the last week so that next time this happens, people will know what to do.

  8. Quote: Yeah, we really need a commision to 'find the facts', those commisions always do a bang up job, never get political or partisan or turn into blame game show trials. I can't wait. The 9/11 commision was very enlightening and we're so much safer from terrorism nowadays. <_<

Actually, I found the 9/11 commission report to be very enlightening. True, you had people blaming each other for why certain things happened. However, the report never says that one side is right or one side is wrong. It was more of a collection of information they found by interviewing the various people involved with Homeland Security at the time 9/11 happened and the years leading up to the tragic event. You as the reader need to make up your decision based on this information. (Which guy do you believe? Who's really at fault? etc...). Kind of like a documentary that shows both sides of a story.

I found it definitely more informative than listening to people make a bunch of uninformed comments without having any factual basis. Seems like in this country citizens believe the louder and more outraged they are, the more their arguments are supported. Doesn't work that way.

  9. I read Hillary Clinton wants a commission put together to investigate what went wrong in the reaction time of the relief effort. I hope this happens. Usually, stuff like this is done just to try and make the other party look bad. However, it makes sense to figure out where the whole relief process broke down so they can fix it for the next major natural disaster or terrorist attack that hits the United States. Also, I just want to know WTF happened.

  10. I think when everything has settled down and the situation has stabilized, an investigation should be done to see why the relief effort took so long. Was this a problem at the federal level, state level, or local government level? Until we get more information about the chain of events that occured in the last week and the details, we should cut down on all the finger pointing. After all is said and done, there will be a lot of blame to go around for everybody. However, we need to remember that this is a natural disaster of proportions the United States has not seen in a while.

I really get tired of people shooting off their mouth based on tid bits of information. We do know Katrina hit on Monday. The levee started to break on Tuesday morning according to a report I read. The National Guard and aid did arrive before Nagin went on the air Thursday pleading for more help. However, the amount of aid was lacking. Looters and gang members were stealing (not just food) and shooting at police officers and civillians. People were held in miserable conditions at the Superdome and Convention Center. Substantial aid did not seem to arrive until Saturday.

Things I would like to know:

    1. Why Bush waited until Wednesday to fly back to Washington and then waited until Friday to see the flood site?

    2. Did the local governments convey information to the right people to get proper aid?

    3. What were FEMA and the National Guard doing during the period from Tuesday to Friday?

    4. If people could not get out of NO before Katrina hit because of transportation, why weren't those flooded school buses used instead of just having them sit there and get... well flooded?

It may sound like I'm accusing everybody, but actually, I just want to have an explanation. As I said before, these are extraordinary circumstances, and there ARE reasons why people do things the way they do even if it might not seem apparent. I just remember wondering why the firefighters weren't called out of the second building during 9/11 after the first one collapsed. Later, I read in the 9/11 commission report that the radio transmitter did not function the way that they had hoped, and a lot of firefighters never heard the order.

Interesting how things make sense when more information is available.

  11. Do'h!

I just saw that HLJ has the other BGC figures up for preorder. Unfortunately they are actually gashapon trading figures. They must be tiny to fit in those plastic capsules. On top of that, it is still sixty bucks for the set, and these are not posable. WTF Man! At first, I thought I would pay any price to finally get some BGC figures. However, there is a limit to how much I am willing to get screwed. Oh well, more money in my pocket.

  12. If you look back a couple of pages, you will see different Yamato figures that are supposed to be from the Story Image Figure line. If they made them, they should release them some time in the future I am guessing. Probably waiting for all the AS figures to sell out first. I'll definitely be waiting. :)

  13. Thanks for the pics. Finally, a good reference of how big or small these things are. They seem to be decent quality toys. However, at a sixty dollar price point I will probably pass. I am hoping the Yamato ones will come out soon, and even if they don't have the articulation that these have, I just want some BGC figures to stand up in my display case.

  14. These are the yamatos...and its the Story Image Figure line...which are actually Trading Figures , 500 yen each.

Not sure if they have a similar scaled one to the AS ones.

    Hey Wolfx,

Where did you find the pictures for the Yamato BGC figures? I can't seem to locate it anywhere on the yamatousa site. I saw that story image figures range from 4 to 5 inches. That's not bad considering they only cost five bucks. Even if they are not that posable, I only plan to stand them up in my display case. Any indication of a release date for the yamatos. (Sorry, I don't read japanese).

BTW, just checked out the Yamato japanese site and it looks like I was wrong. The figures will not be 160mm as stated. They will be 150mm! At a $55.00 price tag, this just seems to get worse and worse.

  15. Can this be right?

160mm in height or approxiamately 6.4 inches!? ABS and PVC plastic? Does Wayne Brady have to choke a B!@%!

I have been waiting forever for these things to come out. I thought 55.00 for one figure... okay, that's a bit pricey. I also pretty much thought they would not come with any diecast metal, but as long as they were a decent size (eight to nine inches) that would be okay. Now I'm finding out that they are only 6.4 inches? That's a size of a freaking Toynami MPC alpha, and those things can transform! Are these things going to be extremely limited production? Is there gold lining the insides of the toys?

How big are the yamato ones coming out... three inches? Even if the Yamatos are the size of GI Joes, they may be the better value at 500 yen or about five dollars. Get a whole set for twenty.

In any case, considering the Guyver III Max factory toy is only about forty to fifty dollars and is close to eight inches, I think these things are extremely overpriced.

  16. Seems like HLJ is the only place that has this up for preorder. BBTS does not even have it listed. Does anybody know who I can go to so I can buy multiples for a decent price. I was thinking about getting five of each. BGC is one of the original series that got me into japanese animation in the first place.

    :p

  17. With all the MZ23 talk, I decided to rent it from blockbuster online to see what the hubbub was about. Boy, that sucked! Can someone explain to me the appeal of this movie. A guy is being chased by the army because he has some kind of bike they need for the computer. They almost kill him but don't. So he hangs out with his friends. He finds out the whole world is a sham and controlled by a supercomputer. So he has sex with his girlfriend. The army has numerous opportunities to kill him especially at the end, but the guy lets him go just because. I watched the dubbed version so maybe the Japanese version makes more sense. As it stands, the thing is a jumbled piece of garbage.

    Cool bike though!

  18. I agree these figures look great. However, I am worried that Yamato are releasing them. I actually wished Bandai could release them because their SOC is fantasic. Also, anything Bandai I ever bought has been good quality with little to no defects. I actually feel good about my purchases.

The Yamato stuff I bought I thought looked good, but I didn't feel like they warranted the price tag. These things are sixty bucks each, will probably be made of 90 percent plastic, and will be fragile. I am guessing they will feel like the Millia Q-rau.
