  1. In any case, right now SMS are the only guys who have the technology sufficient enough to repel the Vajra so far, and even THAT is a tough nut. If and when new technology appears (music-based or otherwise) that will let the Frontier forces fight the Vajra more effectively, I'm sure NUNS will grab it and screw THAT up too, keeping SMS at the frontlines.

    Mark

I dont kno about if Music based weapons are gonna be used like in M7. So far the Vajra are attracted to Singers. They might collect Sprita just like the Protodeviln since they have been seen in other places at differnt times. Remains of Protocultre. And from the looks of it they dont have much problems the Zenteradi.

The VF-171 could destroy a Vajara. If the right pilot is at the controls. So far we seen the Red Vajra take alot of damage and get its head blown off and still fight back. Kind of a shock 2 the grunts. But yeah SMS are doing more damage than NUNS. but there is only so Few of the VF-25 that Mass production might come later on in the series just like in M7. VF-21 replaced the lost VF-11 and VF-19's that where lost until the fleet could rebuild. Its not a matter of they cant produce them...Just never had much of a need for them until now.

  2. Get the feeling that some of the speculation that Ozuma had met the Varja before could be true? I do.

He acted like he was fulfilling some sort of vendetta when he knifed the lobster...

Well a hand to hand Combat kill could do that to you. I mean that red Varja did do a good bit of damage to the fleet and the city defense forces. So good chance it was personal. And think about it. You seen someone just unload a gun pod, massive missiles and still the Lobster only snapped its claw back at you. I would have knifed the damn thing my self to.

  3. Im going to support the idea that the VF-25 has internal missile bays, as they have been common to all the special operations Valkyries (VF-17, VF-19 and VF-22). This would also make sense for better performance and stealth (assuming the VF-25 employs active stealth). At a guess, I would place them in the legs like on the VF-19.

I read some where they are going to try and stay away from the whole stealth design. If anyone knows or can compare the size of the VF-19 and the VF-25 to see if it size can even hold leg missile bays along with extra gun pod clips. Good chances the VF-25 GU pod just has a large internal capacity magazine.

I went to the Emotive systems site and seen the Nero Head set. That could very well be what is inside the VF pilots Helmet.

  4. I wouldn't say it's so much homage as a logical continuation. Since BDI is out, the wraparound view is the best they can do.

It does look like the interface and computer in the VF25 is more advanced now. They were able to pinpoint, target, or zoom seamlessly.

I wouldn't put BDI out as a option. There could be a much more watered down system now that is used for small task and not fully control the fighter. We have technology that reads face muscle movements that release the use of moving your hands to press buttons to bring up info on ur hud and what not. So suing a BDI type system wouldn't be surprising. We are only human only so much we can do and taken in at one time. Being able to mentally being able to transform or call a wing mate wouldn't be so bad.

  5. This here is the big problem.

The colonization fleets are FLEETS. There's a lot of allies to worry about, and a single ship's barrier overload could be catastrophic for the rest of the fleet.

Though by spec, the New Macross vessels HAVE an omnidirectional barrier. They just don't use it.

    http://macross.anime.net/mecha/united_nati...ross/index.html under countermeasures.

    ...

Pity so many of the numbers are sevens. It'd be nice to not have such a significant vessel in the continuity defined in terms of a very large pun.

Ehhh.... I guess this was already dealt with. But I at least get to be the first to point out the ODB is still in use!

    +$0.02 anyways.

It says for "Countermeasures: pin-point barrier, total barrier system to short ranges" but could it be for the missile defense system of the NMC-13?

But there is no doubt that they could build one. They have the technology. But U.N.Spacy is a fleet that relies on its Fighters more over their starships fire power. Launching and recovering fighters is around the clock thing. And unless its some star Trek type shield ( which i hope to god they dont use. Or even to think about using) i think the PPB would be more than enough. Automated systems and a manual control would be more effective defense then a full barrier. and would save alot of energy used for other things. I guess Macross is Going Green!

  6. rankasnmhe3.jpg

yup looks more like Ranka was having a flashback of her encounter with vajra, and she was looking from a window from another ship.

My question is did she ever visit near the Galactic core before? Or do the Vajara just roam the stars looking for Protoculture decedents?

Be kinda sad if we find out the SDF-02 was the first victim of the Vajara. If they could find the M-25 fleet just think what could have to the Megaroad with Minmay on board.

  7. What about a railgun or linear gun? VFs do generate a large amount of energy. That energy could be used to power a railgun or linear gun. Linear guns seem to be popular in Gundam right now.

Yeah that could be a possibility also. Rail cannons/ linear guns need a large source of energy and do heat up a lot. The Gun pod opening could be a way to release the heat thats built up.

But that could also mean it functions more like a Rifle and not a full automatic gun pod....Nice change if thats the case...

Only plus i see to the Private Military Contractors is they don't hold back when using new technology on their VF's. so its not all off the Shelf products. And we get some Diversity also not only with the fast packs.

  8. TO me it was truly nothing amazing...But was great eye candy. Mecha was great both U.N. Spacy and Marduk designs.

VF-1MS will always have a place in my heart..

But they also did alot of extra things that where kinda....well...Cheap and rushed. We had a bad intimation of Rick, Lisa and Minmay's love triangle...instead of a Ace pilot dying a Ace Reporter/pilot died the same way Roy did...and he was drunk to...

But never the less it was a very cut and paste idea onto something new and it didn't really play out well.

And last time i checked who gets hit wit a mother ship main cannon full on...And survives? We seen smaller charged partial cannons peal Moons and large warships apart like ripe Fruit...But for some strange reason the Bridge survived that? But you gotta give it up to the Mecha Designer... adding another 4 partial cannons to the Original macross design...Impractical but hey what can you do>

Wasn't the worse and wasn't the best.

  9. What I don't understand is why they're using a Pinpoint Barrier System at all. I mean, it was the best defense the Macross could muster at the time, and it was pretty underwhelming then. Why would they still be using a marginally effective defense which born of desperation FIFTY years before?

You also have to remember that they had a real bad memory of using a Omni-barrier system. They system was inverted or overloaded or what ever the case was and well...Kinda whipped Ontario off the map. (Robotech) and in DYRL they did even show the Omni-barrier or even the PPB in action. And in DYRL the ship was a Meltron warship not a Protoculture ship....wait so where did they get the barrier technology in the first place???

Like everyone pointed out the Omni-barrier would be useless in combat. Unless your unlucky enough to catch the first salvo in a battle and tun the system on and off that about as much tactical advantage you can get. Its like guarding and entire fist fight..Something has to give and good chances ur barrier will before the enemy can even get warmed up.

.........And if its Broke dont fix it..(PPB :D )

  10. I agree as well. I recognize snipers as sharpshooters that's in an undisclosed location. Just because someone uses a long range rifle doesn't make him/her a sniper IMO. The deciding factor for me would be whether the shooter is concealed or not.

Well he was trying to stay behind cover as he was looking to put in some well placed shots. But what I don't understand is that if it is a projectile weapon or a energy weapon.

    1. We didn't see any rounds drop ( or they didn't care to animate that)

    2. Only energy weapons really open up like that to disperse heat really.

    3. That Gunpod could be a improvement of the VF-17 Nightmares high energy beam cannon attachment??
