I just saw the sub version of the episode and I must say that I am impressed. The scene where Ranka is singing moved Alto's heart and mine. By looking at Alto's face during that scene, he is cleary ready to give up his life, not only for being a pilot, but also to protect that little nice voice. Also, Alto joining the SMS is cool but no gravestone and no funeral from the fleet for dead SMS personal ... well that sucks. But Alto is fine with it so ... P.S.: Alto is right : Sheryl is a dirty exhibitionist. And she sucks too. So screw her and Ranka for the win.

I was just talking about Alto's passion for flying. Alto wants so badly to pilot a variable fighter that he did hesitate to make a fool of himself when he spoke to Ozma like Isamu did in front of the Colonel when he knew about the Ghost X-9. Also, Hikaru never insisted to pilot a variable fighter (Minmay suggested him to do so) unlike Isamu and Alto. Considering all these facts, I can say without hesitation that Isamu and Alto are passionate about flying than Hikaru.

The answer is simple : Variable fighter. Alto is like Basara in some way. Both love their passion and because of it, they don't care for the girls.

Actually both : Promoting and selling the Macross franchise and merchandise. Yeah, Macross is on the Internet, but it could be better. Only fans with their limited ressources are promoting Macross on the web. If a big corporation like Bandai with big ressources invest money in promoting Macross on the Internet, I'm sure the visibility of the franchise will eventually increase so do the profits for Bandai. After all, the music industry is doing it and it is benefiting from it. Not specifically aimed at the US market, but for the international market since "Horrible Goblins" own the name "Macross" outside Japan. Horrible Goblins lol.

I want to start this thread because recently, I have seen a lot of people here saying that Harmony Gold will eventually block any Macross merchandise coming from Japan. Well, I guess it's true but it's not a fatality. I explain myself : Bandai has a weapon called Internet. For example, I can see Bandai open a Macross's virtual store in it japanese website for non japanese speakers. If Macross Frontier is a hit, most anime fans will eventually know about the franchise and if they are interested enough, I'm sure they will buy Macross merchandise directly from Bandai's japanese website. And all that without lawsuits or without altering the name "Macross" for an international release. What do you think guys ?
