  1. I wonder if that double bump is because of the 1/60 being designed for 2 seaters. It might be designed for the VT-1 since the rear seat sits higher than the front seat. The higher and longer canopy would blend in better with the fuselage without the double bump, IMHO.
  2. This is what I got for myself this year. A 25th Anniversary VF-1S and low cost M1911. The rest of the money I saved went to presents for family and friends. Hope everyone else had as good of a Christmas as I did
  3. Just watched Ep. 1 again, and I so impressed with the new series. As far as the Macross timeline controversy, I really don't care if it is a reboot of the Macross universe. I'm just happy to have a new Macross series to watch. I also feel that wading into that argument is like me wading into a major firefight with people using machineguns and cannons, while I only have a handgun.
  4. Just watched it this morning before passing out from lack of sleep. All I can say is... THAT WAS AWESOME!!! Now I want to travel forward in time so I can watch the rest of the series. Now to go build a time machine....
  5. It would figure that they would make a improved 1/60 VF-1 after I started collecting 1/48's. This is awesome news, now i can really build a complete 1/60 scale Valk display without having to buy any of the old 1/60 VF-1's, but I'm still keeping my 1/48's. They had better have some VF-1D's and VT-1's in the new 1/60 lineup!
  6. From the crash recreation the C-5 was already below glide path when they throttled back, and unfortunately they throttled up the failed #2 engine and not the good #3 engine. I know it is possible to land a loaded C-5 with only two engines, but it cannot climb with two. IMHO if they were on proper glide slope the throttle mixup would not be a big problem, but with them being too low, this mistake proved catastrophic.
  7. For Christmas this year I'm buying myself presents instead of getting ones from family. I just got confirmation that my 25th Anniversary VF-1S that I preordered has been shipped! This is my second Yamato Valk, so I'm very excited I hope everyone has a great Christmas, I sure am.
  8. Welcome to the Yamato Valkyrie addicts club Lacerta! I have just recently started collecting them myself, with my first and currently only being a 1/48 VF-1S Roy Focker with Super Packs, but I have a 25 anniversary VF-1s on order. I guess its true you cant have just one As to HLJ showing the Focker VF-1S as discontinued, my understanding is that Yamato discontinued it before but brought it back due to demand, same as what they have done with the VF-1J MAX and the VF-1J Millia. So yours might be the last or Yamato might make another production run. As I said welcome to the club, and ignore the screaming your wallet will be doing over collecting Valks. Now forme to go and figure out how to afford my next one, maybe I can sell a kidney or something.
  9. Personally, I'm excited about the new series. I do have some reservations about it being like a school drama, since there has been so many anime recently like that. On the other hand it's nice that the Macross franchise is not being left to fade away, and I'm happy we get new Valkyries to drool over.
  10. Your probably right that the F-35 is being seen as a ground attack fighter first. The F-35B especially since the U.S.M.C. air arm considers close air support as its primary job. The problem is that some of the aircraft that the F-35 is suppose to replace, like the F-16 and the F/A-18C/D, are used in an Air-to-Air role. It will be even more likely to be used as a fighter since the F-22 is not expected to fully replace the F-15C in U.S. Air Force service due to cost.
  11. The sad part is that the engineers might have been actually thinking that. As one fighter pilot once told me: "Nothing beats the Mark I Mod 0 Sensor system, A.K.A. the human eye."
  12. I just looked at the pictures and you're right, it seems the F-35B has lousy rear visibility. That is a major flaw for a fighter, makes me wonder what the designers were thinking
  13. Looks like they changed the way the doors open on the F-35B compared to the X-35. The front lift fan now has a one piece door that is hinged at the rear instead of the bi-fold doors. The two doors behind the main lift fan now seem to open in the opposite direction. I don't think that the doors are big enough to cause any problems with crosswinds that the flight control computers can't handle. I'm sure the engineers at Lockheed-Martin already thought of that problem, I hope.
  14. Man, these take me back! I had a Bandai VT-1 that my parents bought me when I was a kid around 1985-86, bought when we were over in Japan. Unfortunately it broke during a move years ago, I can't remember what I did with the pieces after that.
  15. Aero of Steel, thank you for the link. The more I see the VF-25 the more I like the Hikaru color scheme version
