Sara and Mao are not 'human'... that's all I can say. You think normal humans can control AFOS? The blood that flows in Mao's body is partly from AFOS, I suspect their whole family is not 'human'. So I think it is okay if Mao and Sara did something 'magical'... Anyways, just my $0.02. Oh I forgot to say... when Sara was inside AFOS, she keep seeing 'Kadun', which are people who are 'possessed' by anger/rage. At the end Shin gave up his anger and put his life in the hands of Sara, that sort of broke the 'spell' that AFOS had on Sara and she could finally recognize Shin as who he is and not a Kadun. She saw all the valkyries as kadun and that's why she was firing at them...

NOTE: This is a spoiler thread, so lots of spoilers ahead in this message, if you don't want to be spoiled, don't read! I thought all in all Vol. 5 was good... The dogfighting was amazing although I was a little disappointed by the way both Nora and Ivanov died (killed by the bird-human). At the end it wasn't explained what the bird-human was... is it a proto-devlin? Or something to that extent? But it was obvious that AFOS was planted on earth to be revived at some point to figure out whether the earth is a peaceful place yet, it asked Sara a series of questions about the current state of the earth before it sings the 'Song of Death'. At the very end Aries told Focker it is very easy to save the world, it's 'love' - this is total tie in with what Macross stands for, I thought that was quite well put. One thing that was quite puzzling was why did Shin also disappear? Sara told him to take care of the Mayan people, but yet it would appear that Sara came back and took Shin with her... I wished that they had both died when the Monster fired at AFOS, it would've been more fitting some how (now we have to wonder where Sara and Shin went, hmpf!). Although another idea I got was that, well, Mayan's stars were robbed by 'technology' and 'civilizatoin', so Sara and Shin went to space to become the stars that will watch over the Mayan people.. I would look forward to a possible movie edition, that would tie everything in, and possibly offer some answers...

For a minute I thought it was random characters, but upon a closer look, they are actually words (although I could not understand it much). :-)

The figurines don't look too bad, but I think I'll pass. I wonder if these are pre-painted or whether you can paint it yourself. Still looking for a high-quality version of the classic figurine of Minmay when she is singing DYRL... The figurine looks like it's from Flashback 2010.

What if any un-answered questions will be answered in a Macross Zero... GAME? ;-) I think that is certainly possible with the VF0 models from the Sega Macross game never making to release... :-)

I might have missed the discussion earlier, but I remember reading something about Shoji not working on another Macross series in the next little while... but WHAT IF... there is going to be another series right after Macross Zero... There probably is already info saying this won't happen, but if they could not resolve the ending in 34 mins, and if the fans get mad... haha... :-)

Link Sounds like it is a showdown between Roy and DD (We all know who is going to come out alive, well... maybe DD became Zentraedi, who knows, ha ha) Just mentioned that Shin will be going to rescue Sara... does that mean he has to fight Nora? Or maybe the 'Bird Human'. All in all, without watching the last volume, I gotta say that (at least for me) the hype level wasn't as great as Macross Plus, but then again it is Macross so I am going to finish watching it :-)

I'm glad someone else mentioned the '2k4 version of Hikaru saving Minmay scene' coz the moment I saw the scene from this volume, that is what I remembered... though I can't remember exactly whether there was this scene in the TV series, or just in the movie (DYRL). I think Zero is definitely trying to appeal to new fans, and also give back a little something to the hardcore fans. I agree this episode was really lack of action (though I quite liked all the mech/valkyrie scenes) - though it was a little disappointing that Roy got his ass kicked... In Vol. 5, we will probably see the UN SPACY kicking Anti-UN's ass... I suppose Shin's piloting skills is improving with every encounter with Nora, but it would take me quite a bit of convincing to have him defeat her... (I guess it might end up as a stalemate...) Roy and DD are probably equal so hopefully we will see some of that cool piloting from Roy!!

Is it possible Mao is alien? She has purple hair just like the Zentraedi... and she has the same blood as ALPHOS :-) And I don't think she dyed it, hee...

NO! This is NOT the strategy guide! It is "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross Which We Love" which you can find information in the same page in Macross Compendium. Why would I consider buying the strategy guide when I've already finished the game? It looks like it'll briefly introduce the TV series, DYRL and the Macross PS2 game, doesn't look like it will provide any more information than we already know... if I can flip through the pages in Japan, then I guess I can figure out whether I want it, or not.

Got Max's VF-1S last night... I can't remember but I think I have 15 or 16 S-ranks now... The remaining missions are tough... 1) because they are long 2) because they are hard Anybody got hints on P-10? The one where there are 4 enemy ships? What's the fastest and easiest way of hitting all the turrets? I have to try to use Max's 1S in Pine Salad, and see if anything happens...

You mean Hikaru and Max right? According to what people say, it's around 16 for Max and 18 for Hikaru? I guess the plan is to get as many stages with S rank and you're getting close to it... Although some people say you can get it by completing specific stages with specific paint schemes, not too sure about that.

Hi thee, I was not using a VF-1A, I was using a VF-1J with blue paint scheme to fight Miria in the Pineapple Salad stage via the free battle option and I won but I did not get any new cards. I suppose you cannot get any cards from the free battle option. I don't remember if 'blue paint' is available but that won't cut it. You need exactly VF-1J Max Paint. You get a bunch of cards by finishing the game (you don't need to achieve any particular rank) but inorder to get all the remaining 'hidden' cards you need to play Free Battle and finishing particular stages with usually A+ ranks or use a corresponding paint that has significance in that mission. Hope this clears up the confusion. And again, the color paint doesn't get you any cards, the character paints would - i.e. Hikaru Paint, Max Paint, etc. Anybody with Focker paint tried to play the stage where Focker is mortally wounded... I wonder what would happen o.o

That color is mostly for your wingmen's and the 'red' color you can select is not the same as Hikaru's color... I mean otherwise why would you have Hikaru's VF-1A and VF-1S?

Weird - you're supposed to be able to get Max's VF-1J if you clear the first 5 stages (P stages) - not sure what else you're missing... maybe there are some other pre-reqs like you need to get Hikaru's VF-1J first? About Miria's VF-1J, you need to use Max's VF-1J to defeat her in the Pine Salad stage (not the 1A) I am not sure how many S ranks I have right now, but it's good to know that I can get something before achieving all S ranks (i.e. getting Max and Hikaru's 1S before that). I still got a long way I think, coz honestly I don't think I'm that great in the game... some stages I rock, but others, it's just a little hard... especially with boss fights, it's difficult to maintain a high HP. BTW, strike pack is awesome... you get 30 shots each time and you can destroy regults with one shot! It takes about 3-4 shots for the glg's and probably about the same for the nld (I forgot the official names, hee). I don't find the fast pack especially useful although it does make your valkyrie look cooler...

Probably all the same as I didn't notice any difference between the other respective paints (i.e. it's just the paintjob, the skill of flying depends on the pilot, i.e. you :-) )
