I'm still optimistic that they'll just make the Ajacs and offer a non-canon color scheme or something just to get another one out of it. They can always call one the officer's version and one the non-officer's version and I doubt anyone would really care so long as it was made.
I would love it if they had an Ajax done up with the Black Lion Squadron coloration...which would only vary from the standard model in the way the coloration and trim was applied. The Black Lion Coat-of-Arms as well as the TASC Coat-of-Arms would be there too.
As for the stats on that website....the weapon stats are wrong....but I know that isnt what you're concerned about. Yes...according to This is Animation Special #10...the scale for the Bioroid, Spartas and Battloids are almost all 1/48 (the only exceptions are likely the Fenris Powered Armor and the Kraken Deep Sea Armor). Its interesting...the only Battloids to not have prototypes made were the Marsh Division Triton and the Cities Defense Unit Unicorn. On the bad guy side...the BioPsycher/Bioroid Invid Fighter never had a model/toy made.

Isn't that the image from the flashback?
Nope. That is Johnson/Wolfe (or it would be if he had a mustache) just after getting back from his Op at the begining of the episode. In the flashback, it has Johnson/Wolfe weaing what could either be an armored spacesuit (Mospeada)/REF Infantry Body Armor (Robotech)....it has a stylistic reminescent of CVR-3 in some ways.

Hiya baronv,
welcome to MacrossWorld. I think its pretty much recognized that I am the board's resident Southern Cross nut
.As for SC toys...none have been reissued. Currently, for some reason, Toynami has made no plans to do SC toys...eventhough they have signed a contract making them the worldwide licensees of any Robotech Masters/SC toys.
Unfortunately, Ive been informed that a transforming Auroran/Ajax MPC has about a snow-ball's chance in hell of ever being produced. The main reason given is that unlike the Spartas Hovertank or the Battloids, the Auroran/Ajax has no variant based upon rank or coloration. However, it is interesting that many of the people I've talked to about seeing MPC SC toys want an Ajax (and a Hovertank too).
Please sign my petition that is listed in my signature and spread the word so that maybe one day we can get some SC MPCs or even Super Poseables.
BTW....for those of you that like SC...I think the ATAC/ASC mugs from Robotech.com are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I got my first one about a week ago.....gonna be getting at least 2 more in the coming weeks.

-
I think its Colonel Johnson. Colonel Wolfe in Robotech is supposed to be far older I believe (despite the comics now making him 50+ when he bites the big one).
Umm...nice try BTW....that isnt the character from Mospeada....he has a mustache.
-
At any rate, Toynami have the worldwide, including Japan, Mospeada toy rights, so they are quite literally the only game in town.
Yea...but at least Mospeada stuff is gonna be made. Southern Cross stuff most likely doesnt stand a chance in hell because of Toynami and how Harmony Gold percieves their market. Toynami, of course, owns the worldwide license for the SC toys as well.

So it looks like Sony won that court case after all eh?
Actually...no. White Wolf is set to have an expedited hearing on the 10th of October.
I saw Underworld Sunday night after work.....it could have been alot better. The Lycans were too wimpy to actually have had more than a chance against the Vampires. Way too many Lycans died as opposed to Vamps.
I saw way too many parrallels between Celene and Lucita...plus the Bloodlines issue (I think that is where Sony might get hammered the hardest). The Abomination angle is probably another item that Sony will get smacked on. Lastly, the way in which Lycan's come about mirrors way too much Werewolf: The Apocalypse (though the shamanism of the Garou is missing from the movie). The shared memories is another as well....gotta love that Past Lives Background.

-
If you mean The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battlegame by Games Workshop.....yea. Ive got the FotR and TTT sets, plus 2 sets of Warriors of Middle-Earth. Expensive game....but with lots of minis. The Return of the King sets are coming in November IIRC. Im personally going to be collecting the Khazad so I can field an army of Durin's Folk for The War of the Last Alliance (and with the release of the Shadow and Flame set, I can have a Durin V for the War using Balin's stats).
Some of the stuff that will be coming in the future covers personalties and creatures from the novels that were left out of the movie. SnF has Glorifindel (mounted and on foot), Elrond's twin son's Elladan and Elrohir, the Istar (Wizard) Radagast the Brown, Tom Bombadil, Goldberry and the Barrow-Wights. Hopefully the next expansion will include the other Ents like Quickbeam and the Huorns.

One thing you Harmony Gold defenders have never noticed is that after Toynami's "Macross Super Poseables" were released as an exclusive off of rt.com during March of 2002, Harmony Gold has done NOTHING additional with it so called license or rights to the Macross TV series... otherwise nothing else has come out with the SDF Macross logo, the Valkyrie name, the original Japanese characters names, etc.... it's just been the "Macross Saga" that's been getting all the props and merchandise.
Well...we dont know why...nor does anyone else. It could be that the Macross-only name didnt sell as well as Robotech.

Things that don't say what you want them to aren't considered "serious" news sources.
I hate myself for getting back into this...but as to ANN's credibility....they have none. They are blatantly Anti-Harmony Gold and have little journalistic integrity. While it is ok to have an opinion (even a strong one), you aren't supposed to let it become personal. ANN let it be personal.
EDIT: And to back up what others are saying...none of us has credibility either. All of our rantings are based on fan perceptions.

"A Boy Named Sue" is one of the greatest songs ever made...
Rest in Peace Johnny.

I'm tempted to just go over there and piss them off
VF-19....just to back up what others have said....please do NOT do this. While I am not really a Macross fan (Im a Robotechie and a Southern Cross fanatic), I can guarantee you that it will cause a further slide in relations between MacrossWorld and Robotech.com. Not only that, your account will be banned at Robotech.com......and you will most likely not be allowed other places where the .Commers congregate on the web because you will have earned a reputation as an arsehole.
As others on this webpage can attest, this kind of stuff has happened before in the past with almost disastrous results. Not only does it eat up bandwith at BOTH sites (when one group 'retaliates' against the other) but it causes a great deal of hurt feelings. This is Shawn's website and Im not too certain that he would be keen to have to go through this crap again.
Im not trying to be harsh or to do the Mods job for them....Im just trying to save everyone some grief. Robotech fans and Macross fans can learn to get along.

Here is the latest information from White Wolf's webpage concerning the case....
Court Awards Expedited Injunction Hearing toWHITE WOLF and NANCY A. COLLINS in "Underworld" Suit
Atlanta, GA, 10 September 2003–White Wolf, Inc. and Nancy A. Collins yesterday appeared in court yesterday with their attorneys in an effort to get legal relief from Sony Pictures', Screen Gems' and Lakeshore Entertainment's alleged copyright infringements in their upcoming film Underworld.
Judge J. Owen Forrester did not grant the requested temporary restraining order, citing a handful of mitigating circumstances, most notably the plaintiff's inability to post a bond in excess of ten million dollars. Judge Forrester, however, did call for an expedited discovery period (lasting 30 days) and enabled the plaintiffs to have a preliminary injunction hearing thereafter. Judge Forrester also outlined his policy on fairness in his courtroom and cautioned Sony Pictures against using "big business" delay tactics.
If the injunction is granted, defendants risk their ability to proliferate the Underworld brand in video, licenses and merchandising. "I believe our attorney presented a strong case yesterday," said Mike Tinney, President of White Wolf. "The Judge had done his homework, asked a lot of smart questions, and commented that plaintiffs appeared to have made a valid argument for copyright infringement. For a small company like White Wolf and an individual plaintiff like Ms. Collins, this acknowledgement is very heartening."
So....see the movie while you can and buy the danged soundtrack when it comes out.

If Sony loses money, Sony counter sues WW. If Sony counter sues WW, WW is SOL.
Thats why I think that this is more than a frivolous case. White Wolf may be the shark in the RPG pond....but its a guppy in the greater business ocean. For them to do this means that there could very well be more to this than we've seen. White Wolf, generally speaking, isnt made up of terminally stupid people. Either that or their lawyers are arseholes for leading them down this path.
-
"We make vampires fast and strong, they make vampires fast and strong."
"We make werewolves big, they make werewolves big."
"We have a strong female lead that is a vampire, they have a strong female lead that is a vampire."
Oh... and my favorite:
"We call OLD vampires Elders, they call OLD vampires Elders."
At the Vampire MB, one of the guys on there is a lawyer and said that the reason for this kind of stuff is that you literally have to throw everything but the kitchen sink at your opponent to see what sticks since a judge can decide what parts are and arent frivolous.
GreenGuy, thanks for the link.
Ive got a hunch that Sony might try and deal out of court with White Wolf to keep Underworld on its release schedule. I want to see this movie....but damn...after reading the brief....the writers are either completely oblivious or are incredibly unlucky. Abominations.....cripes!
-
Didn't Anne Rice come up with similar stuff in here fictional world years earlier?
To the best of my knowledge....no.
And if anybody goes to see this movie, make sure to punch a Goth in the parking lot afterwards. Or for those less violence prone, yell "Get some sun, Ringo!"Likely wont see any Goths unless I go to Ybor City....it'll likely be alot of the local White Wolf gamers that I see...especially the Vampire and Werewolf LARPers.....
-
I know one of the things mentioned is the game for Underworld called Underworld: Bloodlines....to which White Wolf points to Vampire bloodlines....I havent read the complaint docket to see what all White Wolf alleges.
It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. Although I'd never read, played, or even heard of these games, someone I was talking to knew of them extensively and said the trailer for Underworld even demonstrates the outright thievery.I was pretty much certain that it was inspired by Vampire and Werewolf when I first saw the trailer months ago. Its not like Sony can claim to have never heard of Vampire: The Masquerade before....what with the old Kindred: The Embraced TV series BASED on V:tM and the Hunter: The Reckoning videogame for XBox (which was a rather good seller IIRC) among other media.

Hi,
figured some of y'all might be interested in this press release that was posted on White Wolf's webpage. I had actually planned on going to see this picture in 2 weeks as it looked like a great Vampire/Werewolf flick. Seems the people at Sony might have cribbed a few too many ideas from White Wolf to make this film. It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Hopefully the movie will be able to be released and all parties can walk away with something....would royally suck if Sony yanks it from their roster.
Atlanta, GA, 5 September 2003—White Wolf, Inc. and Nancy A. Collins yesterday filed suit in US District court in Atlanta, Georgia against defendants Sony Pictures, Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment, alleging 17 counts of copyright infringement for the film Underworld, set for release on September 19. White Wolf alleges that Underworld characters, theme and setting are based on White Wolf’s award winning games Vampire: The Masquerade® and Werewolf: The Apocalypse™, both set in White Wolf’s fictional World of Darkness®. Further, Collins alleges that Underworld’s script is based on her 1994 story Love of Monsters, published by White Wolf and also set in the World of Darkness.Plaintiffs claim over 60 points of unique similarity between Underworld and their work. "Ours is a huge fictional world, supported by over 200 volumes of fictional material," asserts Mike Tinney, White Wolf’s President. "It’s infuriating to see Underworld’s script riddled with our property." Plaintiffs also claim that Underworld’s entire plot is based on Collins’ short story Love of Monsters. "Apparently they are marketing this as a remake of Romeo and Juliet," comments Collins. "What I think they really mean is that it’s an on-screen adaptation of my story."
White Wolf and Collins are seeking immediate injunctive relief and damages. "The volume of confusion in our marketplace is amazing," observes Tinney, "our fans think they’re going to be seeing our film. Of course, if the movie gets released, in a way they will be."

Well made and (just like Faye) very revealing. But......not in a good way
I almost gouged out my eyeballs from "Faye" at AX
. I tried to warn a friend of mine not to look....but like a moron he had to look...kinda like a deer in the headlights..... -
DragonCon eh....lucky dog. I wanted to go again myself....been twice before and had a blast.
And by the way, I have seen my fair share of anime and other types of cross dressing. To each is his own, but I swear that I wanted to gouge out my eyes when I saw one guy dress as Shampoo from Ranma or another time as a sailer scout. No no...the worst was seen earlier this year at Anime Expo...something many on this board that went can relate to.

Cosplay is like LARPing....sometimes it DOES help when you're a little tipsy....not necessarily smashed.
Is it exhibitionism.....of course. Alot of hobbies are.
I will say that Ive photoed my girlfriend's cosp. groups in the past.....believe me....alot of the guys who cosplay (especially the guys who CROSSPLAY....ugh) get followed around and drooled over by hoards of girls. That can be an incentive for some guys (well....alot of guys probably).
Of course, the funniest thing is watching a crossplayer get hit on by someone of the same sex.....to which I want to tell them...."Guys....girls dont have Adam's Apples.....thats a guy you're drooling over...."
Anyway....cosplaying can be fun I guess.....heck....I reenact....so I dont see what the big deal is about. Of course, there is a line between what I would do (we shoot real guns...with blanks B) ) and cosplaying. At least that is what I tell myself everytime I put on my uniform and go out to shoot some Secesh on the weekends......

It didnt appear anywhere in the series. It is NOT the Bioroid Invid Fighter....that was a mislabeling of the mecha by Harmony Gold and Matchbox. It is the Late Generation Type I Bioroid....comparable to the Blue Standard and Blue Advanced Bioroids.
There is a spread from the Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fans - Southern Cross that has the line art sketch of this mecha.
Magazine for Anime and Hobby Fans - Southern Cross Page 2 of Layout

God...
I just noticed something else about the spread with the Bioroids on it. What looks like an Assault Corvette/Bioroid Transport isnt one....it has no launch bays for Bioroids, lacks the upper deck cockpit and most of the weapons pods carried on the Corvette. It might be the smaller "fighter" variant seen briefly in eps. 3: Star Angel (Robotech eps. 40: Volunteers)

BTW...that Mylene Cosplayer from Rising Sun.net was at MegaCon in Orlando this past year. I saw her on Friday and Saturday IIRC. I didnt get any pictures of here then.....Im sure she'll be back at MegaCon again in February....whether as Mylene again I dont know.

All the credit must go to Zor Master, Rob Morgenstern and rtsurfer over at the RDF HQ Message Board....especially to Zor Master. However, I too am very pleased with this and will probably comb through the TV series to see if any of these mecha make an appearance that was beforehand not recognized. I now know what to look for.
There is one fuzzy picture of the closing credits that I am going to look at more carefully when I get the Southern Cross boxed set, since the perspective is a little better and the image will be inifinitely cleaner. Rob has the Triton in the foreground highlighted (it appears to be carrying a gun pod)....but its the image all the way in the back right corner behind the GMP Golem and other MAS Triton....and for the life of me it appears to have the same general shape as the CDU Unicorn and Spartas...what almost could look like chest plates on the front of the mecha.
Closing Credits Triton Hightlight
This is definitely going to need more looking into.
Southern Cross/The Masters Toys

Yea...
sorry...I was referring to the 3-form model of the Spartas that is shown in the back of This is Animation Special #10. The Matchbox toy appears to be a badly copied and badly redesigned version of the model.
