There have also been two copies on eBay, one is still taking bids and the other sold for about $69.
Yea...I was the first bidder on that set....didnt check back in time and saw that I got creamed.

MAYBE MACHETTE.....MY FAVORITE.
Hey Memo.....
Yea...considering the weird names they come up with.....wouldnt surprise me. Too many Jonathans or Jacks (John Wolfe, John Carpenter....Capt. Jack Kramer, Jack Baker and now Jack Archer....).

I think ya have to order it individually...not sure.
As for mangling the story...Robotech has alot of the elements from SC (more than people like to admit or can imagine). However, yes..the storyline is VERY different...chief reason being that SC takes place on a planet called Glorie in the Epsilon Eridani star system...not on Earth.

Im getting it as soon as my Best Buy gets it in....which wont be for about 2 weeks or so. <_

its one of my favorite movies. never read the book though....
The book, by Cornelius Ryan, is a superb history book. Its a little dry in places but I loved it after reading it the first time. Finding it might be a little hard....mine was a gift from another World War II reenactor. I have to say that the Brits at Arnheim have my respect for surviving through absolutely horrendous odds. The fact that Colonel Frost's battalion held out on the bridge itself is a testament to their courage.
"Whoa, Mohammed!"
-
aren't they the guys that got caught in Arnheim when Montys plan completely screwed the pooch?
Yep...the 1st Border were a part of Operation Market-Garden. Watch the movie, or read the book, A Bridge too Far. It was amazing that alot of the 1st Airborne guys chose to wear their berets as opposed to helmets....that says alot about their esprit de corps.

You Yanks can just stroll into Cabellas and pick up a pair of percussion sixguns for about $300, no paperwork required. But here...let me whet your appetite with this picture:
Actually...I think I can go to a reenactment and pick up a pair of Remington Army Model '63s for about $250....maybe less.
As for paperwork....some a-holes in the BATF and other groups in the mid-90s thought it would be smart to require us to get a permit before buying a percussion cap pistol. Thankfully, that one died before it could be even thought about becoming law. Its always nice to go to Officer's Call (since my Commander RARELY went...thats right...send a Sergeant to do a Captain's job) and be told that there are plain clothes BATF agents in the crowd and to please make sure our guys don't f&ck around and get us all arrested.

Pretty much all of Robotech that I really like is in the Southern Cross portion....or is related to SC. I really only support Robotech at this point so that Southern Cross can gain popularity. I sure as hell don't support it for the Macross portion.......which I find boring to say the least. I like Mospeada/New Generation....but I have to be perfectly honest when I say that if I had a choice between a Southern Cross sequel and a Robotech sequel...I would take the Southern Cross one.
As that is not currently available...well..Robotech has ALOT of Southern Cross in it...so I like it. That is how I view our borderline crimson satanic friend also.Heh...nice one.
1st Border - British Glider Infantry Battalion during WWII, part of the 1st Airborne Division
Red Devil - Nom de Guerre of the British Airborne...given by the German Afrika Corps troops that faced them...either referring to their maroon berets or the fact that they were covered from head to toe in red clay.

It will burn your soul...
Nah...more like you will want the 20+ hours of your life back if you watch everything Macross 7. I know I do.....
(SDF Macross) is a little more mature than Robotech and once you get past the subs, you'll probably end up liking it more than Robotech (I've never met anyone who didn't).I can think of at least two people on this board for whom that statement is untrue. Cyclone, who is an unrepentent Mospeada nut....and myself. I prefer Southern Cross. However, I love Robotech because it really is the only way that I will ever get to see more of my beloved series...though with the way that Tommy Yune is doing things...that might not be certain.

This sums up every single cliche in Sci-Fi and how to resolve them....

"Produced By:" Has Mainichi Broadcast System, Tatsunoko Productions and Animefriend.
If it has Tatsunoko in the Production Credits...then Kenji Yoshida and Ippei Kuri/Toyoharu Yoshida were involved. They are the senior most members of the Tatsunoko family considering it was their older brother Tatsuo that formed Tatsunoko. They would have been two people getting their shareholders to cough up dough for the episode.

We can tell them that all we like, but there are people who won't believe it unless Carl Macek himself were to come clean and actually use the name "Shoji Kawamori" in a sentence.
Ok...I actually have to take umbrage with that statement. Kawamori and HAL got ALL the credit from Robotech At 1 onwards. Not one time were ANY of the animators or developers of Southern Cross or Mospeada mentioned. If anyone should be bitching about lack of credit, it should be the Mospeada and Southern Cross fans. Harmony Gold has always said that Robotech was made of 3 separate shows. I knew that as early as 1987 (when I really got introduced to it through the RPG).
If you mean crediting the creators in the actual show itself...do you realise how long the credits would have been?

Check out Shotgun News....I think they have vendors selling the SLR reciever. You basically have to buy a BAR Parts Kit and then use the SLR reciever. Sorry about that, had forgotten that they were basically selling only the reciever.

Does anybody know if the 90s remake of Tekkaman Blade ever had a DVD release, official or otherwise?
I dont know if Tatsunoko ever gave it a DVD release. However, it would seem that they are presently transfering a number of titles to DVD so Im sure if it hasn't been done yet it will be in the near future.
-
Well... I'd take Elton John, Barney, and the Teletubies over Macross 7. So yeah.
ROFL

Does any here have or used a BAR?
I tried picking up a BAR once...too damned heavy. I know that there are companies now in the US servicing World War II reenactors that produce a semi-auto firing BAR....that way you don't have to go through the whole rigamaroll of getting a Class III Weapons Permit (IIRC, thats the one needed). I wanna be able to get a Bren Gun personally....

Mines gotta be the Wave-Rider Re-GZ 91 from Char's Counterattack. My second fave has to be the Nu Gundam...also from Char's Counterattack. For a General Model...gotta go with the Jegan (let's face it...I loved Char's Counterattack

Its no truer a statement that people tend to be afraid of that which they don't understand. Its usually people who know nothing about firearm safety who shoot themselves.....and those are mostly non-gun owners.
-
Yep it had a brief 5 seconds in one episode. It was shooting at the enemy then got blown up.
No...it had 2 scenes of being blown up. Once in Force of Arms and the other in To the Stars. Also, its not really an Orguss...its a Valkyrie "dressed up" to look like an Orguss. In Robotech it would be a prototype armor variant for use in Atmospheric and Space Ops.

I voted for Selene from Underworld cause she is SO like my favorite Independent Lasombra: Lucita from Vampire: the Masquerade. Speaking of which...the discovery period for the White Wolf v. Sony is over and the case should be moving forward. Going to be interesting to see what happens.

Well, if Toynami/HG can create a derivative "VF-1R", why doesn't Yamato just make one for laughs(and stick it to HG). I'd buy one from Yamato in 1/60 or 1/48 scale.
As far as Ive read...Yamato could do that...they just can't distribute internationally without going through Tatsunoko and Harmony Gold.

This is from Tatsunoko's webpage. Zillion was 31 eps. actually....4 discs will have 7 eps each and the last one will have only 3....total of 31.
Since its only release for Japan no chance of it being dubbed. Our only hope is either for a HK bootleg (which I dont want) or a US release from some anime company here....probably ADV. In fact, given that Macek, who ran Streamline, works for ADV its a good possibility.
-
Well...
I have yet to see Zillion...need to get it one of these days. Figured I would pass this on...could be old news by now, not sure. It seems that it will be a 2 Box set of 5 DVDs, 7 eps on 4 and 3 eps on the 5th disc. Hopefully the last disc will have some nifty extras.
I would hope someone would pick up the rights to this series and release it in the US. Possibly ADV since they have a retro thing going on. Anyone ever see the whole series?

Once more into the breach dear friends.....

(I promise...this is the last one I'll post for a while....) Enjoy!

Nope....blame the lazy animators. They only showed the connections/arm servos once in the series IIRC...and that was in eps. #15 The Ballad of Breaking Up/Separate Ways. The forearm mounts do not appear courtesy of anime magic....its animator laziness.
You can barely see them on either side of Stig/Scott's MOSPEADA as he is begining to dismount.
