UHD / 4k resolution is now available, either by paying extra $10 or if it meets $351k funding.

My kickstarter settings are set to Canadian dollars. When I looked at the progress so far, I saw 351K and I almost celebrated, until I saw it was in Canadian dollars. As I type this, it's still only at 266K US. It's getting there.

  2. I just finished watching it. Overall, I liked it. I found, for this movie, that the dog fights were easier to follow then some of the other movies (Macross or otherwise).

The music worked well. The songs were well placed for the scenes they were put in.

    Spoiler

I was actually very impressed that they didn't shoe horn in Do You Remember Love. I mean, I love the song, but it was nice that the film went their own way.

Can you see the warp nacelle from the Officers lounge scene again? It was in the old 90’s director’s cut but removed again in the 2001 addition.

    Chris

The Nacelle shot during the Kirk, Spock, McCoy officer's lounge scene was added in the 2001 edition.

  4. While it's unfortunate that there is some dnr in the new release, I would still go for the new bluray simply because it includes the original theatrical sound mix. Add to that what was said above: they programmed the bluray to play the original theatrical version with no text and no concert scene at the end when you choose the mono mix. This is as close to 1984 as we are going to get on home video.

  5. I don't think it's realistic to expect a Mospeada movie, they're going to want to start at the beginning of the story, not the 3rd part, and they're going to want ti do Macross story elements that they don't own.

This movie has clusterfrakk written all over it.

I don't think it matters where they start. This movie (if it even gets made) will essentially be a franchise reboot. They can start wherever they feel like.

Besides, to the casual fan who hasn't watched RT in over 15 years, their reaction will be pretty much "wow, this has everything I remember", while the diehards will just sit quietly as they realize that the movie absolutely shits all over their precious 30+ year cartoon.

  6. Let me state this for the record, there is NOTHING wrong with Goldfinger - even if there is.

I once described 2 Bond movies to my wife this way:

"From Russia with Love" is the best Bond.

"Goldfinger" is the perfect Bond. And yes Dynaman, your statement is 100% correct.

  7. That's usually because the IT department is almost non-existent or they farmed IT to an outside company. Unfortunately in this day-and-age, companies should really be focusing energy on IT considering the scope of the online-world these days.

From reports, it's an early draft. Unfortunately, since that e-mail server was also compromised, you have the e-mails from the writers and producers detailing the changes to the script as the changes were made.

We also have the current budget for this movie from those e-mails: $300-million. It's over-budget by $50-million. So they're trying to bring it back down to the $250-million range of Skyfall.

Sony hack: Next Bond movie is WAY over budget

That is a frighteningly high budget. Even bringing it down to 250M is still scary. Hopefully, Mendes is good with a more tightened belt and nothing really noteworthy suffers from the cutback.

  8. This is a helluva example of putting all of your eggs in one basket. Also, why are all of these files just floating about in e-mails and not all in links to other secure servers on particular locked-down networks with special passwords for said networks? Have they not heard of layers for security purposes? All the hackers might've got then were a few bits and bobs of business info and some throw-away temporary passwords for all of the real data that *should* have been changed once read.

My experience with some mega corporations is that their security is kind of lax, usually because lack of imagination by their IT department, or IT not having a strong enough voice to make the people at the top listen to them seriously.

As for that Bond script leak, I hope it's not the shooting script. That would really suck for the filmakers.

  9. There is no product code on the cases, so I have no idea which series/model they are.

If I recall correctly, I think they were just some cheap cases from the dollar store. The important part I considered was that the the disc hubs would certainly be less stressed with these cases than the originals. When I want to release the disc, I hold the disc with one hand, and press slowly the centre part of the case so that no stress is put on the disc hub.

Here's a pic of the case hub holder. Hope that helps.
