i really like gerwalking (especially the vf-2ss)...and as others have suggested, i think it is one of the primary differentiable attributes of what makes macross...macross. i actually like it so much i try to see if it can be done to all sorts of other transformable figures just to see what will happen...(facebook page dedicated to all sorts of "unconventional" gerwalking)

THAT IS FREAKIN AWESOME!
Do you have a non-PS'd picture?
yes...

not sure if this fits in this thread to share but hope so since 'the workshop' seems macross only. i had picked up a PG 1/60 Aile Strike from the FS thread here and did some modding. i always wanted a large scale, fully poseable, w/open hatch capability, glowing (photoshopped) Temjin!

just wanted to share a custom mod i made from something i picked up from the FS thread here. for all intents and purposes it should probably be called a mass production RGM-O. the truth is i just like red gundams

My favorite valkyrie is the VF-2ss Valkyrie II. I do love Macross and there are plenty of incredible valkyries to like and enjoy in which I do, but while I patiently wait and hope that Arcadia/Yamato/Bandai or whomever may one day mass produce a fully transformable VF-2ss for fans to enjoy, I had a yearning for another version of this valkyrie that I thought was worth sharing. (note: the pics are photoshoped to bring out the colors, enhance shadows/highlights, cleanup, etc.)
I was curious to take one of the 1/250 scale Macross Fighter Collection series models and see if it could be converted from fighter to battroid. With an x-acto knife, a dremel (for portions that are hard plastic), model glue, a weathering marker, and some patience, I set out to make a VF-2ss in battroid mode.
Here are the pieces after separating the parts:
My goal was to capture the pose of the VF-2ss that graced the cover of the June 1992 issue of B-Club magazine (vol. 79) in which you see my attempt:
Here it is next to the fighter mode out of the box:
Here it is from behind so you can see the cool back pack:
Here it is next to a bottle of white-out so you can see why I think it might be the smallest VF-2ss in battroid mode :
Here it is next to my custom VF-2ss 1/100 Bandai kit (featured at vf-2ss.com) so you can see scale:
So I hope someday someone can persuade a company to finally develop a fully transformable VF-2ss for fans to enjoy! Idea: remake the story, make it awesome, make a market…make the toy! I hope you all enjoyed this VF-2ss albeit in teeny-tiny form! Thanks.

The Metal Siren does upon first glance seem rather un-macross-ish. I felt its design influence (for better or worse) came from a giant mosquito!
But if you remove the medieval-esque jousting lance it starts to have a VF-17(1)-ish thing going on.
And once you shorten its daggery point of a nose some, and remove the patriotic paint...you begin to recognize the classic lines making it feel like another suped-upgraded VF-1 (just like the VF-2 has done in our hearts) and it ends up not being so bad : )
...but also not that original. Just changing the wings and head doesn't constitute a really new valkyrie per say. I think it's clear that a majority of the design effort was invested into the VF-2, then perhaps the VF-2J Icarus, and then the leftovers were maybe given to make a quick-fix hero mech while running out of time, low on budget and empty of ideas.
