  1. as far as panel lining goes, you should do that at the end when its built. You may want to scribe the panel lines a bit deeper then they already are but its not nessicary. Once built, put a layer of clear coat on the model BEFORE you panel line...this will help the thinned enamel paint flow into the recesses much better. Use super thinned enamel paint...about 4-5 drops of paint to about a thimbel full of thinner is a good ratio. Use a really thin tip brush and hold the model at an angle and the panel wash should flow right into the grooves. You may have to experiment with the paint to thinner ratio depending on the brand you use. Let the wash dry over night and then with enamel thinner or Zippo fluid (works very well) take a q-tip or toothpick and rub off all excess panel wash. For the Gunpod Lavender...not sure. Im still experimenting trying to get that color right myself. I think ive come pretty close with a mix of Gunze's Mr. Color Gray Violet, Steel and Violet For the clear parts, I dont paint them. I mask over them with Masking Sol Neo and then polish them with Tamiya super fine polish or Compound 2000 when im done. If you want to give the canopy a tinted look, you could spray a VERY LIGHT coating of Tamiya Smoke on the inside of the canopy. If you do this, do it from a bit of a distance so only a very small amount of smoke spray gets inside the canopy so it looks tinted and not painted. I have not looked at my canopy all that close yet, im not sure if there is a seam running down the middle but if there is and you want to get rid of it, sand the canopy down with SUPER FINE (2000 grit) sandpaper and then polish with whatever finishing polish you have...Tamiya Super Fine and Top Compound 2000 work great. As you said, you want to do this right so you may want to invest in some things if you dont already have them...Scriber, Masking liquid, polish, good cement, decal setter, superfine sandpaper...etc. You want to make sure you have everything you need before you start...you dont want to be halfway through a step and realize you need something you dont have. If you dont want to settle for the local hobby supplies and dont want to deal with overseas shipping and prices and dont mind dealing with ebay, I highly recommend ebay seller MFPilot...they have TONS of modeling supplies in stock.
  2. cool. Im going to stick with the plain white plastic and paint the interior skeleton very lightly. thanks for the info.
  3. My VF-25 model arrived today and im all set to build it but i have a question first...Im not new to model building at all...ive been building models from my favorite animes for years and i always use an airbrush to paint my models HOWEVER, i have never built a transformable model kit. Does paint factor into any transformation problems? Should i paint this or just stick with the plain bandai plastic. thanks for any and all info.
  4. i dont think the mods misinterpreted enthusiasm for spamming at all. There is a huge difference in the two things. You can be enthusiastic in a thread and show your support with a comment here and there but when you respond to EVERY SINGLE post in a thread, quoting each post, just to reply to each and every person...thats not enthusiasm, that is nothing but spamming to get your post count up. Dont get me wrong, Ryan seems like a nice guy, ive dealt with him on several occasions and have always been happy with the transaction but the truth of the matter is that he shot himself in the foot. plain and simple. Signing up with a different account name after being suspended is not a sign of enthusism either...its being sneaky and he was trying to get around the rules. period. We have all bashed ebay sellers with schill accounts who try to mislead us...how is this different? Ryan was trying to mislead the forum. I dont have a lot of respect for forum mods to begin with...some of them think they have way too much power for what they do(im not talking about any MW mod here) but like it or not, ryan broke the rules. Just because he likes macross doesnt mean he is above the rules. Doing what he did, being called out for it and then bad-mouthing the mods for calling him on his mistakes and then re-registering with a different name and continuing to pull his antics is just underhanded and bush-league. a ban is a ban...not a temporary time out.
  5. eugimon, its pretentious douchebags like you why i stopped coming around here. You try to ruin for everyone if they dont share your opinion. Face it, you are not always right...stop trying to force your opinion around and stop belittling others for having a different opinion. If someone says something that you dont agree with, you feel the need to shoot them down. Honestly, are you that desperate for attention? Does it make you feel like a big man to put others down? So what if someone is a gundam fan or a transformers fan...even on a macross board, people are allowed to like other anime's besides Macross. dont waste your time typing whatever you consider to be a well thought out, witty, sarcastic comment...keep it to yourself...its not funny, but if it makes you feel better to put someone down via a keyboard, by all means...insult me big man. You are absolutly pathetic. Mods...feel free to ban me if you want, this place is just as bad as Newsarama. There is no free thought here....just pure keyboard mob-mentality
  6. im not taking sides here, but the term Noob is condecending. everyone starts with that first post.

  8. great looking diorama, and i love the coffee table! sorry if it has been asked and answered already, but where did you get the table?
  9. $195 seems steep, but i wouldnt be suprised at all. im thinking a 1/60 vf-1 with fastpacks will be $120-$140
  10. thats a hell of a lot cheaper than i thought it would be.
  11. that revoltech shirt is kind of cool and being the fool that i am, i might just get one. that Revy avatar is sweet!
  12. has a price been attatched to God Mars yet?
  13. for a perfect transformation 1/60 VF-1 WITH Fast Packs, id be willing to pay $120

  15. i definatly think that he knew that there was nothing that could be done and that he just wanted to spend his last moments with the woman he loved and not in the hospital. he knew that he was in bad shape.
  16. great news. They all look fantastic. I will not be unloading my 1/48's though...they look way too good.

    My Double D's

    very nice customs!
  20. im a huge comic fan, and Liefeld happens to be my favorite artist. Rob, along with Jim Lee and Frank Miller are my top 3. Im glad most comic artists dont draw photo realistic people...if i wanted realism, id watch the news. These are COMIC books, they are supposed to be over the top. Jack Kirby was so far from being anotomically accurate its not even funny, but do people bash him? Nope. Any comic fan who likes Frank Miller, Jim Lee, Michael Turner, Jim Steranko, John Byrne, Steve Ditko, John Romita, John Romita Jr...etc..cannot complain about photo realism and correct anatomy. No one on that list is critcized except liefeld. plus..any of you out there who like Manga have got to have all the same complaints about anatomy in those books as you do for liefeld art. Manga has some of the most over the top exaggerated anatomy ive ever seen.
  21. by the way, these are old sketches...they are from the 2002 Liefeld sketchbook. He is not begging for work either, Marvel has several deals with him lined up after Onslaught Reborn finishes, Killraven being one of them. and to call the thread Rob Liefeld VS the bible is a bit misleading. Rob is a very religous man, his father was a minister and Rob has always been facinated with the stories of the bible. Being the big sci-fi fan that he is, he thought it would fun to put a futuristic sci-fi take on some bible stories.
  22. actually, as of this past summer when the deal was inked Rob is back at Image. In January 2008, Image comics will release Youngblood #1 written by Joe Casey and art by Derec Donovan.
  23. its worth owning at least one 1/55 valk. wether it be bandai or takatoku. They are such unique and good looking toys not to mention the start of the transforming macross valk toys. i say buy it!
  24. good finale. very well written by Loeb.
  25. $102 for a reissue Super Valk seems like a good deal. a couple months ago, they were going for upwards of $160 on ebay. I love mine, its the only bandai reissue that i am keeping.
