    5. vo xp extras

Just wondering, where's the third and forth part of the DYRL VOXP 2008 go? I didn't see it in the iMacross server. :)

  2. I don't have the guts to start a new thread about this.....so I was wondering.....I've seen a WMV9 640x480 clip of ALL THAT VF floating around the net, and I was just curious how long is this? Is it really just 2:07 minutes, long?

What is the music playing when the VFs do the maunvers?

I have other questions as well but I don't want to spoil it for others so I'm using spoiler tags. :)

Also did Alto & Mikhial VF-25s just do the battroid freefall ala Isamu from Macross Plus?

Another thing....was that the (U.S. Navy) Blue Angels' color scheme that groups of VF-1s and VF-25s were sporting?

Yup, it's that long. :) Although do note that this clip is also called as Macross F version, so we can expected another clip when Macross Zero Blu-ray disc is out, where the fans can get the password to access the Zero version.

The music, to quote Master Dex:

It is called "Welcome to my Fan Club Night" by Sherly/May'n. It is on OST 1.
  3. Copied from my post from Macross Mecha Manual:

First Macross Frontier Blu-ray disc is already out, and with it some nice info of mecha!

VF-171: Nothing news on it, although now we know that the recon version of VF-171 is is named RVF-171.

AIF-7S Ghost: Now here's where we got new info: it demonstrated high maneuverability which is not possible with human pilot, and able to fight in formation. However, if it's integrated sensor is blocked by ECM, it will face difficulty to adapt to new situation. (Not sure about this one... Can someone which better japanese than me help me on this one?)

EX-Gear: It mentioned that it can be used by new VF, which may indicate that EX-Gear can be used by other VF other than VF-25. It also mentioned that EX is the short form of "Extra".

Macross Frontier: Interestingly, while it mention that Macross Frontier is the 25th ship of New Macross Class, it also mention that it's actually the 55th Super-Long Distance Colonizations Fleet. Macross Galaxy is the 21th of New Macross Class, although no no. of Colonizations Fleet is given.

  5. I have downloaded the MACROSS VOXP - FAN EXTENSION Ver. 1.1 , but I can't open it! Soon after the Now Loading scene, the game just crashed, with a unreadable message before it closed the program. What happened? :(

  6. 8. and let's get to the key moment of the episode for us Macross fans... haha, what a gag that bastard kawamori pulled on us. But rather than focus on the food and other circumstances that kept Ozma alive (man, it's a COMPLEX science, i tell you), it was amusing how the differenct characters spoke and reacted in the hospital. and they seem to represent everyone that has anything to do with Macross.

Michael said "wouldn't it be emotional if he died?". hehe. that's Shoji Kawamori right there, talking to "new" macross fans.

Ozma said "i told you i wouldn't die" while looking at the 4th wall. That's SK again, talking to us "old" macross fans. that's him saying PSYCH! :)

Cathy/Ranka saying "baka" and ranka exclaiming that she was so worried: that's basically all of us, who were pretty SURE ozma was gonna die, and were already tearing up when we saw the technician looking at Ozma's cockpit.

Alto giving a smiling "hmp" as if he's saying, "damn, he got me this time". yeah, that us again, after realizing that the joke's on us!

And finally Kanalia and Luca with their blank faces are the "new" macross fans who haven't seen SDFM. "ok, so he didn't die. what's the big fuzz all about?"

    ;)

Nice interpretation of that scene! Kudos for dreamweaver13 for making it looked 100x more awesome than I thought. :)

  7. If I'm ever have a problem with gg, it's that they only released their subs in HD mkv files, which my computer has problem playing with. I kinda wish gg can at least put an avi version so more can enjoy your subs. Yeah, I know it's a policy in gg that they only released HD MKV, but I still wish to see if your group can relaxed that policy a little bit. :)

And to keep up the spirits...

    BOMBAAA!!!

  8. Oh, one more thing. The most confusing spelling I've ever seen concerns her last name. At least a handfull of groups have depicted it as "Linn". I assume this has to do with Chinese romanizations again? I don't believe there's ever been any artwork to support such a spelling, and it just looks odd.

Well, Macross Compendium do use the surname "Linn" for everyone of her family except herself. Weird. The old page did use both version of that romanization.

On a side note, if her name is Chinese, then Ling would be the closest romanization for her surname. And Chinese usually use "i" rather than "y", anyways, so I'm not too surprise that Linn is also used as the alternative romanization. :)

Good luck sorting that out. As far as I know, the name was supposed to be Ling Mingmei (Líng Míngměi, 鈴明美), "Bright and beautiful bell" in Chinese, which is quite appropriate. But then, the guys in China localized the name as Lin Mingmei (Lín Míngměi, 林明美), "Bright and beautiful woods." Both of them are rendered Rin Minmei in katakana. Neither Linn nor Lynn are standard romanizations for Japanese nor Chinese.

Because there's no such surname as 鈴 in Chinese, although 泠, similiar character with the same sound, is indeed a surname, although it's rare one. 林 is a very common surname in comparison, hence the confusion. :)
