  1. Good question. :) It's actually Macross Frontier, judging from the op of each episode so far, and Macross F is just a short form for the title.

BTW, two new questions from me:

    1. Is there a Battroid Mode for VT-1 Super Ostrich with fast pact? I just curious that I see no lineart for that particular mode in Macross Mecha Manual.

    2. What actually is the Quimeliquola special inertia vector control system? To be more precise, how does that system works? Does the system actually able to measure the quantity of the inertia of Q-Rau (something our Earth tech is unable to archive) and adjust the vernier thrusters to minimize the impact of the inertia?

  2. Another question from me (again): What is the difference between VF-11B and VF-11C? I don't see any difference from their artwork.

And a little out of topic, but I see in the Macrosshare.blogspot.com that most of the episode are seperated into parts. How do I suppose to combine those parts?

  3. It's also surprising to see the destroid monster capable of transformation. Didn't think something that heavy could take flight. Hopefully they've fixed that floor-crushing thing it always does when it walks around. I never could get why they'd deploy something like that which would destroy the floor of anything it walked on. They should've used wheels on it or something.

But then, it wasn't the good ol' Monster from SDFM. It's VB-6 Konig Monster, the variable version of it. And it's lighter than the old Monster by about 1/3, too, so it could fly and perhaps won't have those floor-crushing effects. If every explanations fails, we still got OverTechnology, right? :p

Wow, so they going to paid homage to both Macross 0 and Macross 7 in the 10th episode, which is a surprise to me. Is that mean our Vajra friends have some connection to AFOS? :)

  4. Well, one also have to take the consideration of what file type a fansub group can provide. In my case, I have to choose Shinsen's AVI file and AiA's mp4 file because my comp can neither play the HD mkv files nor using the softsub option. Blame it on my lousy, 5-year-old comp. :p

  5. Aye, it does. The throttle lever's vertical movement does, indeed, determine mode in DYRL. 45 degrees is GERWALK, 90 degrees is battroid. God, I love my gold book!

Well, that's what in my mind when I said the position of the throttle is used to determine the mode of the VF.

BTW, I wonder, is there any explanation about how a pilot control the ways the arms and legs of the Battroid moved(just like Alto's victory stand)? Most likely not, but it's worth a try. :)

  6. First thing, thanks for the reply, MrMarch. :)

Getting back to topic, although I understand the controls of earlier cockpit of VF-01, it's the Block-6 (and to a certain extant, most of the VF cockpit after VF-1) that confusing me sometimes. Look at the entry of VF-1's accommodation in Macross Compendium:

Pilot only in Marty & Beck Mk-7 zero/zero ejection seat. VF-1D, VEFR-1, VT-1, and VE-1 each have two seats. Pressurized upward-hinged canopy with retractable shield for Battroid mode and atmospheric reentry use; central column controller, throttle, and two GERWALK arm controller sticks in Fighter/GERWALK mode cockpit of Block 5 or earlier machines. Each GERWALK and Battroid arm controller contains five tapets and one ball controller to control the fingers, palm and thumb. Side-stick controller and multi-position throttle lever/stick in Fighter/GERWALK mode cockpit of Block 6 or later machines. Both side-stick and throttle have six tapets to control the fingers and palm. Two rear (back) mirrors and vision plate in Fighter mode. Oxygen tank. Block 5 and earlier machines were upgraded to Block 6 specifications with improved cockpit and Mk-7 Custom ejection seat. (Bold mine)

Look at the bold part, and then we look at the picture of the cockpit control from your website:

    http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossdyrl/vf...pitcontrols.gif

Now my question: where's the tapets? I think I know where the tapets are in the level, but I'm totally confused for the side-stick controller.

And judging from what I see from M0, it's the position of the throttle lever/stick that determine the mode of the VF, right? :)

BTW, can anyone explain to me the transformation from the Fighter/GERWALK cockpit to the Battroid one? I'm curious about that one, like where do the Battroid cockpit located at? I'm assuming that both the Fighter cockpit and the Battroid one is different.

  7. Ever since I know about Macross, one thing keep bothering me: how the pilot controls his/her VF, especially in battroid mode? I mean, how suppose they change the VF from one mode to another, and then control those arms in GERWALK and Battroid mode (since both modes have difference cockpit), and then choosing the correct missiles to use (especially VF-1, which sometimes equipped with multiple types of missiles), and control the Battroid's leg movement... Argh, I hate to imagine what sort of training those pilots went through just to learn those controls!

On a side note, can anyone enlighten me about the transformation from the fighter/GERWALK cockpit to the Battroid cockpit? They are different, right?

  8. Are you sure about that translation?

That is the first time I've I've heard it said that the VF-171's performance and mobility is lower than the VF-17.

We already know the VF-171 is easier to be piloted and was designed for improved atmospheric performance over the VF-17.

    Graham

Well, the main text of VF-17 did mentions that VF-17's high performance makes it a difficult craft to be used by normal pilots, but again, take it with a grain of salt until someone who has much better understanding of Japanese translate the texts.

  9. Broadcast List

    第01話:クロース・エンカウンター(Cross Encounter),2008.04.03

    第02話:ハード・チェイス(Hard Chase),2008.04.10

    第03話:オン・ユア・マークス(On Your Marks),2008.04.17

    第04話:ミス・マクロス(Miss Macross),2008.04.24

Miss Macross? Wow, old tradition really dies hard. :p

BTW, is all of Macross TV series feature at least a Miss Macross episode? I haven't seen Macross 7 yet.

  10. Zinjo: I still not get any of the SDFM or M+ vibe from the song yet, but maybe when the show is aired, I might have a change of mind.

On the other hand, I hope the changes mentioned didn't including the decrease of animation quality. You know, the animation in Deculture Edition is so good, I begin to wonder if Kamawori and co. can even do such good animation for every single week.

  11. DID you actually watch the show...its nothing like macross seven.

Actually, what Renato tried to say that in his opinion, Aquarion has a story that almost as bad as Macross 7, not that Aquarion is Macross 7 Mk.II :)

But to Kamawori's credit, at least the animation and the OP is good, IMHO. It's not his best work, but at least it's enjoyable for a super robot mecha anime.

  12. Just my personal curiosity, Mr March and Zinjo, what's with the name calling between you two? Did you two have problems with (read: hate) each other? :p

BTW, did anyone knows rumors of any major difference between the Deculture Edition of episode one with the 'normal' version of episode one? I knows about the Op and Ed, but I wonder will there be any change for animation or the storyline...
