Newbie ANSWERS thread!
Sulendil Ang replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
One question: why some people called the Bandai's 1/55 as Chunky Monkey? What's the origin of that name? -
Thanks for your help, March! Is it just me, or are the two rectangular holes on the central ventral fuselage in the middle of the two gunpods also the exit ports of the missiles launcher, too?
-
Another one: how many exit ports for micro-missiles exist on YF-21? I only saw four on the central dorsal section, 4 (?) at the forward section, and see none on the sides of engine nacelles, which both Macross Mecha Manual and Macross Compedium seems to indicate there is.

Well, we see lots of dogfights in Macross, but I rarely see topics of discussing the tactics used in the series. So here's one. First thing, I notice it isn't common for normal pilots to change their valks' modes during dogfight. Why is that? And second, is it common UNS tactic to launch micro-missiles before engaging the enemy, and in your own opinion, is it a effective tactic? Of course, you can also list other maneuvers you have seen in the Macross series as well. Any helps is welcomed.

A Rhetorical Question about Space Colonies
Sulendil Ang replied to DestroidDefender's topic in Movies and TV Series
Nice discussion, I really like it. Well, to be true, we never see the full process of colonization happening in any of the Macross series. In fact, the only two Macross series that specially dealt with the issue is Macross 7 and Macross F. So here comes a question: what if people only saw colonization ships as transports, instead of a proper home itself? Sure, the technology advance in the making of colonization ship makes them looks like a good habitat, but in the end of day, it's still a ship. Try to think colonization ships as trains: You may spend a days or two in a train, but at the end of day, nobody would seriously think that the trains as a place to live permanently. The only difference between trains and colonization ships in this case, is the time, as colonization ships take years to reach their intended destination. Also, when I am thinking back about the subject of colonization of planets, somehow it reminds me of the old days of the British Empire, where they makes colonies around the globe. Don't forget, the whole colonization is under the New UN, which has bunch of politicians. Who wouldn't say that they would use colonization as a subtle tactic to gain more territory into the galactic map of our great Terran Empire? -

Sorry, but it's a VF-1A, not a VF-1S. I think there's a pic somewhere in the thread.. -
Nay, definitely not even close to 5%. There are about 200 to 400 billion stars in Milky Way galaxy, and although we didn't know how many planets has been colonized, but even my most optimum guess will be around 1000 star systems, which is 0.0000005% to 0.00000025% of our galaxy. Remember kids, space is a very big place.

Yeah! My favorite site get an update again. BTW, thanks for making the For Fan Only section a new picture link. That will helps fans to stop asking silly question like "what's the difference between VF-11B and VF-11C" just like I did earlier in the newbie thread. Oh, March, do you think how big a chance you will create profiles from Advance Valkyrie lines? I really like some of the designs from that series, and it may also helps to explain the origin of some valks design in some game.

Other than japan, I have never seen any country use such time format. Not too sure about these two questions... Maybe someone more knowledgeable can help you. Simple: They don't. I really don't think Macross Frontier is suitable for small kids... -

Yup, Howard's bio an accurate description, as it's a direct translation from his profile from Macross F's official website. Proof: 新統合政府大統領, first line of Howard Glass' profile in Macross F website. Translation: The head leader of the New United Nation Government. Hope that clarify things and gives our beloved Macross Compendium some credits.
