He got an instant promotion when everyone else either went mia or kia. I gotta do a rewatch since it seems that once Hikaru returns he got promoted and not sure about the head on kakizaki. Kinda wondering if he at least got a 1J , but I’m pretty sure it’s a 1A when he gets splodied
Kakizaki is definitely still flying a 1A when he's killed. The only time we see a 1J in DYRL is when the Armored Valkyrie fires off all its missiles in the opening battle.
Looking at the screenshot makes me realize that the Hikaru reaction shot of Kakizaki's death doesn't match up at all continuity-wise with the previous shot of Kakizaki's death on the monitor display. You'd think the cockpit would be more damaged based on what we see on the monitor. But hey I guess continuity never stopped gruesome anime deaths before.

Or it will come with Max's VF-1A?
It comes with the Kakizaki release. You can see it in the images in the tweet that @treatment posted earlier, both on the image on the back of the box and in the interior contents.

End of week update for the Yamato 1/48 adapter project. I've been tweaking the design a little bit each evening, printing multiple prototypes along the way. I think it's pretty close now. Here's the latest version. It takes advantage of the original adapter design and uses it as a low profile anchor point behind the head, but also redistributes the weight of the valk further back (right behind the shoulders) in a way that holds the valk snugly in place without having to do any kind of snap fitting. It simply rests in the adapter. I wouldn't flip it upside down and expect it to stay in place, but other than that, you can do some extreme banking in the display stand and it seems to be rock solid. The tab at the bottom is moved just far enough back from the edge so the front of the adapter sits flush with the Arcadia A adapter when attached. I've been printing the prototypes in ABS for added strength, but you could probably get away with PLA since the adapter isn't subjected to a lot of pressure. I'm thinking about making a shorter version for a valk that doesn't have the armor attached. Adapters for Gerwalk and Battroid are also in the works.
Ah, smart thinking on the super/strike stand adapter vs non super/strike adapter. Very exciting to see these coming along!

@Anasazi37 if you ever decide to print these up I'd be first in line for two!

Slightly off topic, but related question:
I have a 1/48 Yamato VF-1. As I'm sure you all know, the 1/48 Yamato VF-1's did not come with the part that attaches to the valkyrie so it could be mounted on the stand: these were later included in the first Yamato display stand.
Outside of buying one of those old display stands, is there anywhere I can buy just the adapter piece that attaches to the valkyrie? I've tried looking at shapeways and other 3d printing sites but haven't had any luck. -
Up at Luna Park as well. ¥27,500:

Very easy transaction with @Kanedas Bike; prompt response and great packaging.

Some belated thanks to the following; all very smooth, fast and easy transactions, and would definitely do business with any of them again.
@Alphahorizon Thanks for the Hi-Metal R's!
@BroTaku79 and @Special Sauce Hope you enjoy the stands!

Not too optimistic regarding their recent anime-based outings... but at least Yoko Kanno is Yoko Kanno. This may make her popularity even bigger considering she recently started doing TV dramas over in Japan. But regarding actually watching this? Nah, they can keep it for themselves.
Agreed, have low expectations for this one... but at least they understand that it's not Cowboy Bebop without Yoko Kanno.

Cool idea. I can see the 1J possibly working as well.

I'm sharing "The Men Who Made Macross" with English subtitles soon. After that there will be a Spanish version based off of English subs. I hope it will be freely available in as many languages as possible.
This TV only release is different than what's on the blu ray.
Fan made and strictly for private use no profit.
I'm just putting the finishing touches on it.
More soon.
Wow, never thought I'd actually see this subtitled. Looking forward to it!

Char definitely was an odd one. He was more of a schemer in the first series then had the redemption thing in zeta, with odd crazy moments. Then in the CCA movie it kinda threw out the redemption thing straight to the garbage and went full super villain with a weird pedo thing for no real reason.
For all of that being awkward writing for just that one character, I can’t see how an American storyline could do any worse. There’s even an odd chance that this could be one of the better gundam films, especially if it’s in an original setting with no expectations.
I honestly thought that the most recent uc related stuff were just mediocre or just plain bad. The robot battles usually are pretty, but with weird or just stupid stories.
I also found the shift in Char's character from Zeta to CCA to be weird. I remember a really old gundam site arguing that Char actually went insane between Zeta/CCA. I know Char was supposed to be in ZZ originally before the CCA movie got approved and wonder if this shift had something to do with that.

I also prefer the red/black color scheme -- I have the Hikaru DX -- but there's no denying that Focker's yellow/black is the definitive VF-1S, both in-universe and among fans.

Not quite... the new material in Flash Back 2012 was originally developed as an epilogue for the TV series that was cut due to runtime constraints. That is where the design for the SDF-2 as a second Macross-class ship came from.
Was the concert footage originally planned for the end of DYRL though? The story I thought I remembered was DYRL was supposed to end with a Minmei performance but they ran out of production time.
The SDF-2 taking off and heading into space I do recall being planned as an epilogue for the TV series, like you say.

Wow, the shading on that Hikaru VF-1A is amazing!

Like many others, have been using them for 20+ years. Never a problem. Over those 20+ years, I've lived in multiple countries, and delivery has never been a problem.
