  1. Me niether :) Although I'm surprised that there wasn't ANY Groxier X thread at all on the board :) Does anybody else have him - or am I all by myself?

    Pete

I've got the regular blue version, though I have him displayed in flight mode. It's pretty much what I remember from when I was a kid.

  2. So if Yamato made a TV version VF-1S Focker, how many of you would be interested?

I've asked them about this, with the following changes made from the DYRL version: -

    1) Change the colour of the arrow markings on the head from yellow to black.

    2) Include TV style hands.

    3) Include 2 pilots as the VF-1S is flown by 2 different pilots in the TV series - 1 TV Hikaru pilot and 1 TV Focker pilot. No need for a new sculpt, the Focker is just a repaint of the TV Hikaru. Also, no need to change the packing design. 1 pilot can be shipped in the cockpit and the other pilot in the plastic tray inner packing as usual.

    4) Include TV Super Parts.

The only other thing I can think of that I missed is perhaps a new tampo printed instrument console.

    Anything else?

    Graham

I'd definitely be interested to see Yamato finally release a TV 1S

  3. Phalanx is a definite.

Spartan probably not, as it needs completely new tooling, which is expensive and would be a gamble for Yamatyo wheather it would be sell well enough.

Any idea if Yamato's happy with their 1/60 Destroid sales so far? It would be such a let down to have 3 out of 4.

  4. All the pics of the Gundam I've seen have articulated hands like a PG...

Good sculpting, and good detail. But non-functional. They're no more articulated then FIX Figuration hands. There are several fixed-pose hands that are swappable for different poses. Open/splayed fingers, fist, holding gun, etc.

  5. Thanks for the pics... I grabbed the real-type production Zaku... I plan on adding some paintwork, and maybe basic leg articulation so it can look at home terrorizing my 1/35th scale tanks. Can you snap some close ups by chance? I'm especially curious about the hands... are they just hinged, or really articulated like some product subscriptions suggest?

Unfortunately am travelling at the moment so can't take pics, but the hands are neither hinged nor articulated. They're fixed pose.

The Jumbo Grades are basically PVC statues, with little more articulation then the Jumbo Machinders their moniker references. But, like yellowlightman, I don't play with my toys, so these are also easily my favorite Gundam line.

  6. The v2 1/60 VF-1 figures seem to be released in order of pilot. Roy's 1S first, followed by all the VFs piloted by Hikaru (1A, 1J, 1D, 1S), then Max (1S, TV 1A).

If this release pattern is deliberate on Yamato's part and not just coincidental, then Max's 1J and DYRL 1A should be next in line.

Hey, great observation! If Yamato is being this thorough, and moving this fast, we're going to have quite a complete library of version 2 VF-1's crowding our shelves.

  7. Nice TV Max.

Wow, Yamato is really cranking these out. That's 7 VF-1's, and counting, in less than one year so far. That's comparing to 13 discrete 1/48 color schemes (including the upcoming TV VF-1A Max) over 6.5 years!

Then again, Yamato cranked out 10 version 1 1/60 VF-1's in about 2 years back in 2001-2003.

C'mon TV Kakizaki 1A! Then I will no longer have to rely on my Toynami Superposeables for a complete Vermillion Squad.

  8. I just placed the order for a Jumbo Grade Zaku, anyone else got any of these big figures?

Yep, always been a huge fan. Old pics below, but they're good for comparing the size relative to the 1/144 Kado Senshi and FIX Figuration figures. I've since added the Jumbo Grade Zeta Gundam as well (not in the pics). The finish on the Zeta is a bit more plasticky-looking, as opposed to the more matte, painted look of the older Jumbo Grades. But it's also about a head taller (huge) and transforms into Wave Rider mode.

  9. Is anyone able to make comparisons between the Yamato figures (original or metallic) versus the Atelier Sai figures? I have the latter, and have resisted picking up the Yamato versions as, from photos, it seems the Atelier Sai figures are a bit more poseable.

Without being able to make a real comparison, however, it's really just my hunch.

  10. What sort of crap you put into your brain to be this ignorant? <_< What don't you bring up those yellowed Lego or SNES as some sort of race issue?

    Here, try some education: http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/189

Hehe, I understand your frustration. :)

Regardless of what mountains have been moved in China since 1978 (including 600 million people lifted above the poverty line, or about the entire African continent), Western-based media continues to lean negative against all things China. Eh, what do you expect? Media about the U.S. outside the U.S. also tends to be uniformly negative, though no one's got a bad thing to say about Lichtenstein or Mauritius. I spend my time in the U.S. defending China, and my time in China defending the U.S.

Anyway, back on track...no yellowing on my 2001 Chunky Monkey reissues. My Yamato version 1 1/60 VF-1A Hikaru had some yellowing on the air intakes though.

  11. Guys, when transforming to battroid, I'm having an impossible time lining up the swing bar to fit into the groove in the back of the nosecone.

Once I achieve the appropriate angle to slide the entire mechanism under the hatch, I can't seem to pull/slide it down any further to line up with the groove so that I can close the hatch.

No swingbar in groove = unable to close the hatch.

This is with the most recent 1S Hikaru, so perhaps the parts are just really right. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

    Thanks! :)

  12. My good friends gave me the remastered Yamato DVD box set for Christmas. The box is gigantic. It comes with a 1/700 scale Yamato model kit! Dunno if I have the guts to work on it.

The video quality on the DVD is unbelievable. It looks super crisp with deep rich colors. I've never seen the Yamato TV series look so good.

Wow, lucky dog. I imagine it's R2 only?

  13. Looks like Bandai's BPX-01 to me.

    Me wantee!

    Vostok 7

    Yep, that's the 2001 original release BPX-01.

I was surprised to see how small Deslar's ship was...I know it was supposed to be a bit smaller than the Yamato and Andromeda, but I'm disappointed by Marmit's decision to make this soooo out of scale. Looks like a life raft in comparison to the big ships.

Anyway, I hope Aoshima and Marmit keep these coming...

  14. Anyone know why BBTS doesn't have any of the Destroids listed? I really want to finally get the Tomahawk so I can customize it, but I am trying to avoid buying anything substantial from HLJ any time soon.

I would email them and make a direct request. I've done that in the past and they've been very accomodating. I think that they carry so many toy lines that sometimes they just don't keep on top of new releases, preorders, etc. Besides, they buy wholesale from HLJ, so it's not difficult for them to add more items to their orders from them.
