  3. Hey, everyone. I know this should be in the For Sale thread, but honestly I think Macross trading cards pretty much get buried under the toy avalanche in there!

  4. So i guess i should try here before i buy from BBTS

I can get a VF-25F DX from them for about $130 shipped, if anyone has a better deal pls reply.

Yep, I can do that. I have the second release (non-armored version), opened but never transformed. Shipping to Canada, I assume?

Just let me know if you're still in the market for one. Thanks.

  5. Thanks, everyone. I'm friends with Tokyo Hunter so have asked him to peep behind the curtain and see if everything's cool over at OD. I'm sure it's nothing, just a little curious/concerned after emailing for 5 weeks with no reply.

  6. They work pretty well for me. I thouht you have to pay full amount at OD for any purchase?

I had a good relationship with their customer service guy. Since I was literally dropping a few hundred $$s every few weeks, he began letting me preorder with just a 40% deposit. Then invoicing me for the balance when items were released and in stock. Worked fine for about a year, then suddenly...no word. Through a buddy of mine, I know the he's still working there, so I don't know what gives. Anyway, I'll work it out on my own...just curious to see if anyone else here might be having similar issues.

  7. Has anyone had any communications problems with Overdrive recently? I paid a 40% deposit for a 1/60 Super Ostrich back in April....and have been emailing customer service for over a month now but with nary a single reply.

To be fair, up until October email communication was second to none. Fast, responsive, helpful. Perfect. Then, radio silence, and I have neither cash nor Super Ostrich.

Anyone know of anything possibly happening behind the scenes at OD?

  8. Both. Yamato's CLAT appeared in the TV series as New York's Ingram equivalent in Shigeo's dream (complete with a giant, remote-controlled robot). In the second OVA, CLAT was a spoof of Ultraman, though this time appearing in Asuma's dream.

So both appearances were in dreams? Great! I can save my money and not splure on these dream-scheme Ingrams. :) I've got to choose my battles...

  9. Really now. I thought the 1/60 v2 was the bomb since you have been touting that in all the other threads. I dont understand why ppl like the chunky monkeys when the 1/60s ARE FAR MORE SUPERIOR. :p

I remember the times in the early 80's when my father would come back from business trips to Tokyo...he'd open up his suitcase and reveal these sick, giant robot toys in boxes with crazy writing on them. My little bro got a 1/55 Takatoku VF-1J Hikaru. I got a Strike! :) Can't tell you how envious my buddies from school were.

Being stupid kids, however, we beat the crap out of our toys. At one point, we even cut up the boxes and made them into posters haha.

Anyway, in my book, no amount of CAD engineering and tampo printing (seen by the eyes of a 30-something year old man) can replace the excitement of a 7-year old boy zooming around with a chunky monkey, with the cold diecast legs and clickety joints and deadly landing gear.

Not that I don't have every 1/48 and 1/60 ever made haha. But just saying, we should stop comparing apples to oranges.

  10. I don't think those have the fulcy hips though. I think they're standard, correct me if I'm wrong emerson. Though the feet look like they were resculpted.

Man those customs are so old, I'm pretty sure even fulcy had his hips replaced by now... lol

Hey, EXO. The M&M pair have the generation 2 fulcy hips. The other dudes have standard issue.

  11. im greatly honored to see the owner of the pics replying here in my thread.. my hats off to you sir! such great hands and great shots as well ^_^

i had this pic for a very long time.. not to mention my inspiration to collect chunkies.. just im deeply puzzled how you where able to spread out (hehe sorry if ive sead split) the legs of MM..for 3 years or so.. now i know how youve done it

and the hands too.. very great..

can i guess you made this mods/pics long before yamato made the v1 or v2 toys?

    just awesome :)

I WISH I had the skills to do this customization work. The customs above are all done by Jung Chao (Jung on these forums, though he rarely posts here anymore.) The VF-1S trio were some of his earlier works, and featured just a few of the technical innovations that he began to incorporate with the help of custom-engineered parts from Fulcy, et al. The trio was originally commissioned by old-timer Jerry Tsai (VF-1X), but I purchased them from him several years ago.

The VF-1D is a later custom that I purchased from Jung directly, via eBay. During this "period" of his work, he had begun heavy detailing work in the cockpits, including handpainting all the panels, and including pilots...in this case Hikaru with Minmay.

The Super M&M pair I commissioned directly, and they represent Jung's 1/55 custom in its highest form. In addition to his own customizations (weathered paint, Sazabi hands, pilots and cockpits, gunstrap and gunpod, etc., etc.,) it features all the available "after-market" innovations available: Fulcy's A-stance (e.g. "spreadable") hips and feet, Rob's head, Erich's nosecone, Chris' heatshield, etc.

I had to source 2 separate Jetfires from eBay...ratty, yellow Jetfires, but complete with armor. I then purchased the VF-1J heads, heatshields, Fulcy hips/feet, etc....then sent all the parts to Jung for his magic. Et Voila! That's what you see in the stead of said ratty Jetfires.

These customs were all made before or during the first years of the V1 1/60 from Yamato. Once the feature-laden 1/48's started coming out in 2002, these became the preferred base for the customizers out there.

Anyway, all but the VF-1S trio have moved onto other homes now. Hope they're all doing well out there! :)

  12. The VF-1S and VF-1J heads are custom heads sculpted by Rob.

As for the legs on the Max & Milia VF-1J's, they use custom metal connectors/joints that were machined by fulcy. The custom connectors are attached at the hip to allow the legs to spread out. These VF's are also equipped with fulcy's custom ankles and feet. The ankles feature a ball-joint to take advantage of the extra versatility offered by his custom hip connectors.

Finally, all the paint jobs were done by Jung. His work speaks for itself.

Emerson is still selling some of these over here. Be sure to check them out. B))

Hehe, thanks for the shout out!

Only the VF-1S trio is left. Now that I see these pics again, I feel a bit of an ache haha. Jung and all the studs who contributed to these customs really did an amazing job transforming old Jetfires into these pieces. Just wanted to add that the hands on the Max and Millia are cast from an MG Sazabi kit.
