  1. Actually, what I'm saying is that your display looks fine as is! You've got all three modes represented. Enjoy!

  3. Was just going to say the same thing. The way you've set it up, there's no reason to decide. Unless you're looking to have all your valks displayed in the same mode, I think your display looks great!
  4. Ok, even MORE reason to go with the Toys 'R Us exclusive then. Much better color (no peach valks, please) and no unsightly AND useless holes in the backs of the legs. Richyx, just check to see if the holes are there to identify which version you have. And, of course, if you have the packaging still, the TRU version will have a gold star labeling the toy as a Toys 'R Us Japan 10th Anniversary Exclusive. As for the number of cannon fodders, if you look at the list carefully, there are TWO VF-1A cannon fodders from the original Macross TV series and film, circa 1983-1984. The THIRD cannon fodder you see listed is a VF-0A...and that's from Macross Zero, an OVA prequel to the origial Macross series that was released just a few years ago. This guy is a completely new design, and is grey, not brown. Pics here: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/vf-0a/vf-0a.htm As for the VF-1J Hikaru with GBP-1S, yes, it is packaged in battroid mode. The only Yamato VF-1 not packaged in fighter mode, in fact. Pics here: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail Hope that clears up the confusion. Actually, as a reference, BBTS has every single current and expected Yamato 1/60 Macross toy listed here with pics, minus the aforementioned TRU Japan exclusive Cannon Fodder and the upcoming SV-51 Ivanonv from Macross Zero. The toys are not listed in any kind of order, and you'll have to ignore the non 1/60 toys listed, but it's a near complete list: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu.as...p;category=1279 Now you know what you're looking for. Good luck!
  5. If it helps, I found that: 1) If you have the VF-1S Roy with Strike parts, you don't need the earlier VF-1S Roy 2) You only need either the Toys 'R Us Limited Edition VF-1A Cannon Fodder, or the regular one. I prefer the former, as the latter's "brown" color is a lighter, more peach-looking shade. Also, it has unsightly holes in the backs of the legs that were supposed to accomodate a FAST-Pack upgrade kit that was, unfortunately, never released. I guess you could always take the packs off your VF-1J Hikaru or VF-1S Roy and put them on your Cannon Fodder...
  6. Which mode do YOU prefer? What else matters?
  7. You guys are definitely right about the crapshoot that is eBay! Well, any auction environment, right? Unfortunately, that's all we have to go on. In an ideal world, the eBay market would look like the stock market....deep and broad with insane volume, such that prices do reflect value (in theory haha). In the absence of that, I scan the prices, try to see if there are any trends, ignore the outliers, and make an educated guess. What else can one do? If nothing else, I look at current Buy it Now prices, then list at a discount here.
  8. That's, what, over $2000 worth of valks right there?
  9. Hey, don't worry about me haha. I am happy with my 1/55's and 1/100's. As for the pieces I am actively looking for, you already have them. Except for the 1/55 GBP-1S. But with all the other stuff I need to hunt, the armor set's not too top-of-mind.
  10. What other pricing is there? The real price is the market price, and all market prices fluctuate over time. Once items are no longer available in stores, historical MSRP's are out the window. And all that matters is what people are willing to pay. I know when I am in the market for something, for example vintage Popy Jumbo Machinders, I will track closing auction prices on eBay and Yahoo Japan for months...taking into account the condition of the toy, the repuation of the seller, etc. Holds true if I want to list something for sale here in the forums as well. If I don't do the due diligence by observing market conditions, than I am just arbitrarily pulling a number out of the air. Would anyone do that when buying or selling stocks, or a home? I would say the $26 1/60 you observed was an appropriate "market price" for an opened, incomplete item. Actually, I'd say it was a bit low, but deals happen every now and again, and congratulations to the lucky buyer able to benefit from these statistical outliers! Meanwhile, I would say the prices of chowyunskinny's sales are appropriate "market prices" for MISB 1/60's. The other alternative would be to scan the older threads here for listed prices, but I'm pretty sure those prices are benchmarked off of comparable eBay sales. I'm actually VERY glad the 1/60's are retaining their value. I've always liked their diecast content, and sleek fighter lines.
  11. Don't get me wrong, I buy all the new stuff too! But the sense of satisfaction in unearthing and slowly bringing together scattered, forgotten treasures from the corners of the world...one lonely item at a time..., then stepping back to see what you've meticulously pieced together runs deep. It takes true effort to achieve a collection like yours. Maybe it's just human instinct. The thrill of the hunt is absolutely real. On the other hand, shopping at BBTS or Twin Moons can sometimes feel like the toy equivalent of grazing. For me, there's a thrill when there's a new toy scoop. Sure. But by the time the new toy is actually in hand, we've already seen every prototype photo, every promo shot, and everyone's already nitpicked the thing to death over the the course of the preceding 6 months. It's all so anti-climatic! Your vintage collection deserves an actual "Kudos and congratulations!" Man, I can't get over how nice your mountain of Takas look. It's been a LONG time since I saw a collection that was so, um, inspiring? Anyway, I gotta go troll Yahoo Japan now haha! Damn you. I assume you're still hunting for the 1/55 Millia and 1/100 Max?
  12. Wow, your Brutishdog's custom weathered finish makes it fit in perfectly with the 1/18s....Beautiful!
  13. Ahh, ok. That makes more sense. Even so, it seems the 1/60's have held up in their value. I remember when the 1/48's were first introduced, people pronounced the death of the 1/60. But these days, there are plenty of people who PREFER the 1/60s. Not just for the completeness of the line across Macross properties, but for the toy's intrinsic qualities as well....diecast metal content, sleek fighter sculpt, etc. I was reading a thread over at Robot-Japan, and over there it seemed a good 75% preferred the 1/60 line. Interesting.
  14. Totoro242, you need to seal all the Takas in a glass case and charge admission. WOW!!! Vintage collections always inspire me so much more than those of modern toys, no matter how large. Anyone can set up a preorder pipeline with any of the reliable online retailers and just watch the pieces roll in every month. But vintage....sure, money is an issue. But it takes effort, and persistence, and luck, and PATIENCE as well. I know I like this collection because it makes me want to improve mine. (Didn't Jack Nicholson say that in a movie once?) I hadn't thought that some of the more obscure Taka toys were worth collecting, their quality paling in comparison to the 1/55 and 1/100 valks...but seeing it all amassed there like that. Wow, their collective impact is irrefutable. NICE JOB!
  15. Wow, I haven't been paying attention to prices of the 1/60 VF-1's...but when did they skyrocket to such levels?! I had been under the impression that after the 1/48's came on the scene, people were unloading their 1/60's. What happened? Because there are just too many 1/48 variants and reissues and reissues of reissues out now, and people, fickle as they are, are finding newfound love for the OG 1/60's? Because it IS nice to have diecast metal valks? Because the Macross Zero and Plus toys are all 1/60, and now 1/48 just seems like a random, albeit interesting, detour on Yamato's part? Anyway, I am looking at my 1/60 collection with different eyes now. Strange, they ARE quite nice... By the way, I am not being sarcastic...I am really curious as to why the surge in perceived values?
  16. Should be there soon! Looking forward to updated pics.
  17. Is that how they packed it?? I use HLJ all the time, and usually get some form of packaging material thrown in. Way to go on the collection....looks like you're ramping up QUICK haha.
  18. The Metal Composite RX-78-2 is nice, but it seems somewhat soul-less. I can't put my finger on it. The Arch Enemy RX-78-2 just has more "personality." And the two Metal Material Gundams from Seed just ooze heavy metal quality. I was hoping the Metal Composite RX-78-2 would be more like the MMM's...freezing to the touch on a cold winter's day..., but it really just does seem to be just a bigger, cleaner FIX figure.
  19. Haha, yes cassette cases. I have HUNDREDS of them. Am I old?
  20. Oh haha. I'm not even sure. My brothers and I have had these Ride Armors since the mid-80's. I know the two in front were Gakken releases, but the "naked" guy in back with the red arms....I have no idea where he even came from haha.
