  2. <shivers> weather-sealed camera notwithstanding, that gives me pause  .

i'm clumsy around tripods and in just my previous trip (no pun intended), i've bumped into it a number of times and had it nearly topple twice.

i tend to get caught up in the scenery and become oblivious to where the legs are.

    here's one example:

it's a crap shot but i kept it because it kinda looked like an itano circus

Looked like a jelly fish to me. I too have prior accidents involving tripods :)

  3. Wow guys! You've all motivated me to both post and start up a flikr account! Hope you're happy. ;) Oh, and I haven't posted in any non-project threads in ages. Inspirational stuff all around.

Since it's been so long and this is "Everything Photography" I thought I'd share my brief photographic journey. I started with a point and shoot (Canon A40) back in the late '90s. Have been a Canon person ever since. I think it comes down purely to what I've always used and what I'm used to. From the point and shoot, I eventually got into DSLRs with a second hand 300D, which led to a 500D (after a tripod incident and my 2 year old son, at the time). I then got a too good to pass up deal on a 40D and liked the size, weight, control, and feel of it so much, I sold off my 500D and the 40D and bought a 7D.

Several lenses and thousands of photos later, I'm just starting to figure out how to make the occasional photo that actually looks OK.

I've only had the 7D for a couple of months and most of my shots so far have been of people, so trying to find something worth sharing has been tricky.

    Here goes:

Right, so I have no idea how you guys are embedding the photo into your posts. I tried each link option from the drop down box but none of them previewed correctly. Any tips for a Flickr noob? Never mind, figured it out!

By the way, here's my setup:

    Canon 7D

Canon 24-105mm EF L IS USM

    Canon 17-55mm EF-S IS USM

    Canon 85mm EF USM

    Canon 60mm EF-S USM Macro

Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM

Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD SP AF

The shot above is with the 17-55mm. For those of you wondering, it's a great lens. I can't fault it in any way, except that it hasn't got enough reach on the odd occasion. Like at an airshow or when I want to get really close (macro performance isn't stellar).

I'll stop there and continue to be inspired by all the great photos I'm seeing. I'll put some others up as soon as get them off my computer and out to the world!

Cool story man and awesome arsenal. Looking for forward to more of your work. :)

I started taking pictures of my Macross collection with a Sony Alpha A350 then quickly switched to a Canon Rebel Xsi and upgraded after a year to a 5D mk2 and aqcuired some L lenses along the way. Im Currently shooting with the Mk3 and i mainly shoot landscapes but do portraiture stuff sometimes.

    just got back.

and for the parting shot, someone who's clearly had too much champagne during the Moulin Rouge show:

Those were impressive images my friend!

  4. IMG_4332t.jpg

Of all the pics I took of it, I think this one came out the best, considering clarity and composition.

Thats pretty cool!, Is that the real Eiffel tower?

Versus whom? Nikon? Sony? Panasonic? Casio? Olympus? Pentax? Tamron? etc? And in what category...point & shoot, DSLRs, lenses?

Ofcourse Samsung rules all of them lol. #Ktnxbye

  5. Vegas take a picture of Alodia for me! LOL.

LOL, sure thing if i see her.

    thanks, guys.

haven't had much time with it, yet, but here's a couple of test-quickies while first mating it with a borrowed d90:

yeah, i know they both suck. both pics are really not-so-good-quickies coz aside from the suddenly drizzly weather today, the real reason I haven't had that much playtime with the cheapy-50mm was due entirely to the thingy at the left of this pic that came with the borrowed d90:

    which produced this test-quickie earlier:

so, got a couple of lens and stuff to play with for this long weekend. hopefully i find some interesting stuff and/or subjects for 'em...

    :D

    Good stuff man!

  6. love the bold blue, white, red colors on the model contrasting with the blurred pastel background. btw, is she Pinay? and was that red strap peeking intentional? it strangely works to offset the shirt.

here's another shot from my P&S. given how mundane the subject is, i was forced to compose to make it at least look interesting (hopefully i've succeeded). the Pinoys in this forum might recognize it and can probably attest that it is not the most inspiring of locations ;)

thanks. nowhere near as good as yours but happy to learn from your example. in fact i can probably blame you for making me want to get Lightroom. can i send you the bill? :p

i've just found this site which convinced me to delve into post-processing: http://www.chromasia.../online/curves/

Yes she is Filipina. I couldnt take the red strap, my photoshopping skill is not that advance lol. Were you referring to the Manila International Airport on one of the pics? Also if you wanna get serious, you have to have lightroom or some kind of a professional photo editor.

Feels a bit too much off the top. Or crop the sides.

    Thanks!
