Thanks, this is really interesting. I used to dislike the arcadia version. Now i am changing my mind though. I actually own only the weathering version of the 1S so i might considering buying the arcadia one(although it is actually more expensive than the yamato one these days).

I really like your pics! And the pose is great. It almost looks like it's about to move. Question, is the arcadia reissue or the the yamato version?
-
Well, to me it is one of the worst looking toy i have in my collection. Especially in fighter mode, it just looks like a big piece of...blue.Plus all the things about being too tight and with the wrong cockpit proportions that have been told by the other users....to me it was really a disaster. Not to mention that what Arcadia promised us with the first pictures was really different from what we got in the end. I guess that is what really made me mad. I always promised myself to write a full review but unfortunately i never was never able to find the time

Now Arcadia i would like to know why i should buy something that never appeared on the anime(as far as i can recall the Shin VF-0A only appeared with the ghost booster in the last episode. I don't remember the "naked version", not the shin one at least)...even if the old ghost fits (and i have at least three of them) it won't match the toy, i mean you could totally tell that it's a different generation of toy(honestly not quite sure which one would look like the newest though)...after the disaster of the 0D things are not getting any better.

somewhat inspired by Lancelot's efforts I decided to have a go at the low vis VF-1J i had been considering.
I did it on a V1 yamato that usually sits in a set of GBP as a saftey net and more as a proof of concept, need to get myself a spare V2 to do it properly, better yet an assembly kit.
I also decided to panel line my V2 Super Hikaru, really liking how it looks!
Thanks for looking,
David
The V2 really looks great. What did you use for the panel lines?

The destroid in the first picture, i think is a Phalanx right? What version is it? Some 1/72 kit?
Anyway i like your collection very much. It really has a unique personality.

I personally consider the 1/48 line the best representation for a perfect transformation Valkyrie(i think we can consider them a perfect transformation valk, right?). And i am still mad at Yamato for not doing a VF-1S MAX a VE-1 or a VT-1. I think they would have looked great in that scale. There are only two things i don't like: Chicken hands(as already stated by pretty much everybody) and the stickers which tend to peel off after a while(well, few years). Also, not only some very cool colour scheme for the valks but also some very nice GBP armor. My favourite is the Urban camo(especially on a VF-1S or VF-1A CF).
-
The first edition of Yamato 1/60 VF-1, not perfect but prefer it over version 2.
Thank you. Now i know i am not the only one out there. I was never able to replace my VF-1 TV version with the V.2. Especially the VF-1J Hikaru. In battroid mode it still looks great. What i like more of the V.1 compared to the V2. are basically three things:
1. In battroid mode they look much more like, well, a robot rather than a humanoid.
2. Panel lines are too shallow in the V.2(Although still acceptable).
3. I like some metal in my toys.
I do have to say though that the V.2 from dyrl are really good especially with the FP and especially the weathering version. Those are just beautiful.

Very nice pictures lancalot...can i ask you what kind of decals did you use for the black 305 number on the front?
-
Thanks hal9000, you did a great job in bringing out the white. And the amazing work you did on the panel lines makes it look like almost like an improved version of the 0S.
-
Hal9000, i have a quick question for you. Did you repaint your VF-0S? The white looks really bright, much more than mine ever did. I mean it looks really great, i was just curious how you were able to achieve such a nice shade.

Great pictures! The VF-0A and the VF-1J stealth still look great after all those years. I miss so much the 1/48s...

I will have to go with this...well, Minmei is optional but it adds a great feeling to the model. I have been wanting to display something like this for decades i guess. A dream that comes true. There is a tiny detail that i changed on the model, really subtle but for me it made a huge difference. Can you guys spot it?(i am sure you can

I got mine last night and i just opened it..
First impression...this toy is really ugly.Looks likea big piece of... blue. Panel lines are too shallow. Probably things will get better with stickers but as it is now it really looks awful. Probably one of the worst valkyrie i have in my collection. Huge disapointment considering Macross Zero is one of my favourite series. I will try to post other thoughts later on but so far i am not happy with what i have.

I am sorry, Noel. I feel stupid now. I didn't mean to be disrespectful. Thanks for claryfing that

Thanks no3. I guess it won't fit then since the hole in the new one is more rectangular than the yamato version. Thank you anyway. I guess my old gunpod will have to do for now

-
Great buy Valkyrie driver. My sv-51 cf is a bit floppy too(also my nora actually) but i still love it. I think there was a tutorial somewhere in order to tighten the joints but i am not quite sure where you can find it now.
-
I was wondering, would the gunpod from the arcadia YF-19 fit on the Yamato version. I guess it wouldn't on fighter mode but what about battroid? I never liked the arcadia version but honestly the only thing i don't like about my yamato one is the gunpod. A battroid mode of the yamato with the arcadia gunpod would be perfect for me.

Thanks for the update no3. I will keep my eyes open then. It seems like it is going to be very tricky to get one anyway.

Isn't the Bandai version for...well, "few chosen ones"? Is it really to be considered competition? Or did i miss something? I mean, are pre-orders going to reopen after the first release? I would love to get a VF19, although if it is from another saga than the original valk it really looks great!

I know I am probably the only one but I am actually pretty disappointed by these announcements.
I own four 0s (two S and two A) and none of them had a single qc issue. I know I have to consider myself a very lucky guy and I understand that arcadia released these models also to be able to fix the previous problems. But honestly I do not think that the look of the models can be improved that much. Or at least cannot be improved so much to justify a 300 usd.(kinda the same thing that happened with the new YF-19 release for me). I mean the yamato models had the pilot seat turning while transforming…can it get any better than that? I don’t think so.
Judging from the pics posted I can already tell that I still prefer my old 0s in fighter mode. Battroid seems a little slimmer but as I said before for me, the design of these models cannot be improved so much from the old ones.
I will probably buy the S to get the reactive armor once released but for the rest I was really hoping for something new or different.

I see, it's from the new manga then. I didn't get to read it yet but that model is tickling my curiosity now. I see there is also a VF-1J V.1. Well, i keep mine displayed too.I love that model so much i will never get rid of it. If i am allowed to give you a little suggestion, if you put the stickers on it's gonna look so much better! That's what i did with mine few weeks ago(after almost a decade) and it looks just great!
-
That's a great display jvmacross...the best of different generations...i love the purple meltran(?) sneaking on the left. What model is the red and white 101 (hikaru) on the right side of the hangar? I can't recognize it.

I purchased mine from Maiden Japan...not sure if he has any left or can make new sets....here are the links....

Kurisama makes one also, but it is fitted for the most recent Yamato/Arcadia YF/VF-19's...
Thank you so much! I will check that out! I am not a big fan of my yamato in battroid mode(although i still love it in fighter mode) and i really think that arm cannon is a little detail that could improve the toy a lot!
Bandai VF-19 Advance....!!!

Do we know the exact release date? I was hoping to get it for my birthday (July 2nd) but it still says June 30th on HLJ...
