  1. Now how in the hell did I miss THIS thread all this time?! :o

Anyways, here's my $.02 braindump to catch up...

I'm a big Shirow fan, been one ever since Appleseed. Incredible art, incredible girls, incredibly detailed worlds. Everything thought out to a T, no cheating of knowledge of technology here! Master, I humbly bow down before you...

I don't mind the hentai. If it's going to be done, who better than Shirow, right? In fact I remember seeing hentai stuff (outside of those pages in GITS and GITS:MMI) that he did even before the posterbooks, in some small japanese book that was mostly text. (Sorry to bring that topic up again, had to mention it though. By the way, the other link is broken so here's a proper one for the curious: http://rengoku9.free.fr/pbcollection.html ) We all know of his love for the female form, it's a natural progression in my opinion. If fact, I'm not opposed to him showing everything to be completely honest.

I'd love to see that page of his airsoft gun designs. I've seen seburos on ebay here and there. Wish i had the money for them. :(

Can't wait for the 4th Intron Depot book! Soon my preciousss...

The GITS:SAC game looks great! Wonder what the cutscenes will lokk like. It can't come soon enough.

Also, here's a question for all you Shirow/Appleseed fans that I've never figured out: I have hardcover/signed editions of Appleseed Books 1-3. Did they ever put out a hardcover edition of Appleseed Book 4?

I've been looking for it all this time, but maybe it's been in vain - kinda like the hardcover edition of Akira book 6. While all the other books for these series get released in hardcover form, the very last book collection doesn't? Weird...

  2. Not that he needs any excuses for winning, since he clearly deserved to win, but the best argument that I agree with for Prime/Convoy deserving to win is that Prime/Convoy is more of a TOY than Dancougar is and at a more acceptable PRICE POINT. I sure as hell voted for him. Guaranteed, more people will PLAY with their Prime/Convoy than old second place finisher Danny-boy.

I love all kinds of toys, from plastic to diecast, robots to action figures. I love ToyBoxDX, Macrossworld, and all the Trans Fans sites. I love 1/48 Valks, giant idols of solid diecast metal like Dancougar, and folks, Prime/Convoy EARNED and DESERVED that win.

If Macrossworld held the exact same TOTY vote this year, I'm pretty sure that Prime/Convoy would still have won. And if TFW2005 held the TOTY vote the year before, I think the VF-1A would still have won that year too. People know a great toy when they see one.

And frankly, he's just a great, great TOY. Period.

    :)

  3. Loved the Mezzo Forte and Kite OVAs.

I'll definitely be checking this one out.

Even without the sex, it sounds like they toned down the action, which is unfortunate.

However, i'm anxious to see what the "no way!" action scene at the end is like. :)

  4. you know, i know that convoy/prime is not an alternator, but i thought i saw a picture with him and smokescreen and sideswipe together in vehicle mode and they looked liked the essentially they worked together, even though seeing them together in robot form seemed not quite right.

i don't have prime, so i can't really say, just going from memory (faulty as it probably is.) :D

anyways, i love the trailer. love how the side detail of it matches the G1 well. great job! all it needs is a big autobot symbol on it!

does the trailer fit the alternators by the way?

  5. Hi all, this is my very first topic so if this has been posted before in the past, please ignore this, and apologies in advance. I'm only on the boards occansionally so this might have been discussed before. Mods, also feel free to move if this is in the wrong place.

Anyways, I just happened to stumble onto this guy's work. Just amazing stuff.

Go through all the numbers on the top for the process:

    wow wow wow! :blink::D

  6. got mine at a convention in SoCal, Frank and Sons.

no problems with the left arm, but part of the "butt cage" (if you have one, you know what i'm talking about) was bent and practically broken off. be careful when rotating those legs. don't push them too far back!

switched it with one from TRU. that one was perfect, no problems whatsoever. it may just be luck of the draw. i do agree that a lot of care needs to be taken when playing with this thing, though. so many pieces that can be easily bent or broken if you aren't careful.

in the end, i love the one i got from TRU. looks bad ass.

it just takes FOREVER to get the figure's arms to hold his controls properly! :)

  7. from www.animenation.com:

Japanese Distributor IMOVE has officially announced the development of an anime movie staring Russian pop duo t.A.T.u. "t.A.T.u. Paragate" will be directed by Kashima Norio (Crusher Joe, Dirty Pair) and Susume Kudoh (Sakura Wars, Silent Mobius). Cowboy Bebop creator Shinichiro Watanabe will direct the opening animation. The 100 minute long motion picture will be released in Japan next November.

lots of top notch guys for this...this...endeavor...

  8. i've always loved that design. i'm sure the reissues are probably exactly the same from the model to the packaging of the original, but i've still got my original from back in the day. they never made a toy, so the model had to do...

were there any differences? maybe a different date stamped somewhere on the plastic sprues or on the instruction sheet?

and sorry to go off on a tangent, but how many MW'ers are in the SoCal area and go to Frank & Sons? seems like quite a bit.

  9. cool. very cool!!!

i personally think this is the best of the bunch, much better than the other 3 before it (optimus/megatron/arcee).

here's more info straight from palisades if anyone was interested...

    "Thursday - 11/13/03

You’ve seen 3 beautifully rendered 3-D models from George Tremarco. George is the guy who is doing these renders for us, in the computer, that we use to sculpt the Transformers Deluxe Polystone Statues. Well, here is the fourth…Soundwave. Standing in a more upright position than the other 3 statues, this 3-D render is UNBELIEVABLY cool.

Some things to note are that the cassette window will be open and the feet will be flat against the ground in the final sculpt. He will be on a crushed Decepticon logo base, just like Megatron!

    "

i think it's much better closed. But with an open cassette window, how cool would it be to have a "special" laserbeak addition that could be mounted on his shoulder or arm? :D

  10. the funny thing here is that most of us have probably seen evangelion, from the tv series to the movies, and that thing is just as confusing if not more so than revolutions. not to mention A LOT of other anime series that are open ended, or don't answer all of their questions.

we are willing to forgive a lot when it's anime, but make it live action...

not a dis of anime, just an observation.

  11. news of the 1/60 GBP is great!

and yes, Yamato can't win because i also think the hands seem rather large.

i will personally wait until the 1/48 version though.

    why? (based purely on speculation):

    2 WORDS.

    REMOVEABLE MISSLES.

c'mon Yamato! you can do it!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

  12. shin_

you're absolutely right, the ladder IS internal. i was just thinking that if you were going to do a ladder, at least make it as cool as the one Montarvillois used from his f14 kit.

speaking of which, how cool would that have been if yamato had made a working internal ladder, or at least an add on/clip on that simulated it?

and ChristopherB, that diorama kicks much ass. ouch!

do you have any other shots?

  13. There she is!

Thanks for the bigger pic, Toonz.

    :)

0Coota0, i agree, it was definitely great that Toynami added the ladder. I even like the light up eye to be honest. I just wish they had paid more attention to detail is all. As it is, it kinda looks like a swimming pool ladder to me. But that's just my opinion.

Hear that Yamato? Where's my 1/48 ladder?! :p;)
