I was wondering what was going on with that myself.
Wait and see I guess.
Patience...

Kids will be kids. Things happen.
I'm sure he feels horrible about it.
Sorry for the loss, but at least it wasn't your son over that balcony. You can always get another toy.

yay!!! I finally went to frank and sons after how many months of saying that I'll be going. Well, I didn't see any MPC primes as that was the first thing I wanted on my list, but I had a talk with yoshi and alex and they'll be able to hold some for me. Other stuff I was looking for on my list was the smokescreen and the escaflowne toy. I found both # 7 and #8 and they sold for 50 to 60 bucks each depending on where you go. Escaflowne figure went for 55 at this one place but Alex at little anime shop will let me have it for only 50. So that was cool. Of course the one day I go to frank and sons, treasure island is closed. They had all the new 1/48's and surprisingly they had the bandai eva's in for 55 a piece. Not bad! Man, I need to save up a bundle just so I can all the stuff I want.
Bummer! Did yoshi or alex say how much they'd sell Prime for?
And when they'd most likely come in?
Must. Have. PRIME!

It seems to be the current fad in anime and maybe in mangas but the stories have been oversaturated with philosophy. I'm not sure if it's not coming across right in the translation but the philosphy is really bad. it's always about evolution, where we came from, where are we going and it doesn't meld well with the story. Most of the time it's a character sitting there wondering about existence and then the next minute they're duking it out with a giant robot. EVA is a good example. That's why I'm more akin to the old 80's style japanese importations. SDF Macross was a great combination of story and substance. DYRL kinda got sidetracked by the whole protoculture for a minute, but the balance was still good.
And it seems Shirow is not immune to the fad. It could be that he was guilty of it seeing as Orion was so deep in the whole mystic way of life thing early in the 90's.
I don't want to see a shallow all out robot battle coming from Shirow and my other favorites but I wish the time would come back to where the philosophy served the plot not the other way around.
Amen, brother EXO!

Anyone get the Toynami Robotech Bookends yet? If so, can you post a review or let us know what you think about them? Are they as good as they look in the pics that have been going around?
Actually, I'm curious myself. Not planning on getting them of course.
I just want to know what they're like as well.
No one on MW got them? Not even the Toynami supporters?
Bueller?
Bueller?

Found Sideswipe myself tonight at Wal-Mart, so he's definitely out.

A few comments:
Not as shiny/glossy as Alt. Smokescreen. He's not FLAT plastic, but noticeably not as smooth a finish as Smokescreen. Seems a bit orangey, too. More of a Ferrari red than classic Viper red. (But I haven't seen this particular Viper color in real life, so I dunno)
Awesome engine--chrome valve covers with red accents and the Viper lettering. WAY more accurate engine than Smokescreen. Has intake plenums, cylinder heads, etc. Hood's a bit finicky to open though.
Steering gimmick much better executed that Smokescreen. Doesn't get in way of transformation at all.
More kibbly than Smokescreen. The whole back end and hood just hangs off, and the front bumper really interferes with his foot positioning.
Like Smokescreen, Hasbro tossed out a few minor transformation steps.
(like the steering wheel, tonneau cover, steering mechanism, headrests, and other things that need to be moved/lined up to form the robot chest, and allow the floorboards to fold up) There's like 6 joints in EACH shoulder. You can arrange the doors and sidesills and wheels however you want. I think the "official" way is the worst, making him look like G1 Sideswipe is the best.
No, he doesn't need to have *widely* splayed legs. Just a bit.
Actually, if you transform it right and figure out what the instructions left out, his "windshield as chest" looks quite nice. The whole interior folds up (kinda like Smokescreen) so there's no hollow areas underneath the windshield.
I haven't tried out the "trunk as chest" transformation yet, as it will require a bit of plastic-cutting at the joint. I think the main point of that variation is actually to reduce the amount of back kibble, and make him more balanced. (He's not nearly as stable as Smokescreen).
Overall---about as good as Smokescreen, maybe a little worse. Some areas better, some worse. But G1 Sideswipe is my all-time fave Autobot, so a new one is great.

Great to know. Now I'll REALLY be on the lookout!

But who knows, they released the VF-1J w/o FPs so anything can happen.

Hello guys,
Just talked to the boss earlier and we decided we could perhaps post our weekly prices up here for your convenience. Mostly Macross prices, of course. If there's any suggestions or requests, you can post them here too. So whenever we get a chance we'll be posting prices up here in this thread. Just doing this as a service.

Treasure Island Sports
This should probably go in the dealers page, but i like having a Frank & Sons page too.
Anyways, sounds good to me!
I am interested in your prices for Macross toys (of course) but also Masterpiece Prime if you have it.
Thanks!

Let's see if I can attach it directly:
YES! YES! YES!

Hey EXO, were you able to talk to your friend about the 4th Appleseed HC book?

-
vf-1s strike valk.
my pop was too cool.

-
Cool! Especially to see the animation, that really makes it!

On another note, even though this is probably waaay early to say and we're just looking at a computer model, I wish it had the interior detail that Smokescreen had. It seems lacking in the RX-8. You know, the detailed dash, the seats.
It doesn't seem like there'd be any reason to not be able to pull it off on the RX-8 as well.
Hopefully they do it for the final production toy.

Did Dark Horse publish the hard covers??? (Nice collection!) If they did I can ask one of their manga editors. he doesn't do the Shirow stuff but he could find out.
Checked this weekend.
Eclipse + Dark Horse for the first 2 hardcover books.
Run of 300 S&N Hardcovers.
Studio Proteus + Dark Horse for the 3rd.
Run of 200 S&N Hardcovers.
Off to download the trailer!!! Those screenshots looked great!

EXO, The Akira hardcovers were published by Graphitti Designs. I'll have to check this weekend who published the Appleseed hardcovers. But maybe your contact would know anyways?
The first 2 hardcovers had pictures on the covers. the 3rd book was a kind of faux dark maroon-ish leather with no image on the cover. Maybe it was one company who published the first 2 and another for the 3rd? They seem kinda like they don't go together.

Thanks Californium! That's the shot.

double post. sorry

Thanks! Good to know. Much appreciated.
