  1. Also, this reminds me of Dave Chapelles' "Blind White Supremacist" bit. So freaking funny!!!
  2. KingNor, ask tons of people or do a search online and you'll find all sorts of opinions and thoughts on the matter. I don't think ANYONE can give you the "one-and-only-final-say-right-answer" on this subject, because there is none. Our language and terminology and cumulative life experience changes so much over time that it is impossible. If I remember correctly, even Bruce Lee called himself Oriental, and my parents still use the term Oriental. But that was the time back then, and that was their life experience. For a lot of people in the States today, just use "Asian" and not "Oriental" and you'll be fine. Can't really speak for how it is in other parts of the world. To me, it all comes down to personal preference. I have a Russian friend in Dallas, Texas. Geographically, he's "Asian", but he "White" in Dallas, and technically he's "Russian". HE calls himself "White", so I call him "White". Both of my parents were born in Thailand and I was born here in Los Angeles. Based on my own personal life experience, I prefer to be called Asian or Thai. I don't refer to myself as Asian-American or Oriental or Southeast Asian, and even though I may be American, I don't often refer to myself as such. But that's just me. To take it to another place, if a white child got raised by a black family, I would have no problem calling him "Black" if that's what he preferred. His skin is "White" but his life experience is "Black". If I met him for the first time, I'd obviously say he was "White" the first time, but if he corrected me, I'd change my description to accomodate him, because I was unaware of his past. If an Japanese guy was raised in Mexico and wanted to be called a "Mexican", then fine by me. Just as I would have no problem calling a man who feels like he is truly a woman such, because that's what he prefers. In any case, this is all just my personal opinion. I think it's good that you are at least sensitive to different people to ask the question. You don't have to be overly PC, just respect different peoples opinions and desires and you'll be cool. By the way, what thread did this start in?
  3. Yeah, anime magic i understand. But since it seems Toynami went all out trying to make this the best toy representation of a legioss fighter, i thought maybe seeing the chest touching the ground would make them want to fix it, and warrant some kind of better solution than 'we'll just leave it how it is'. Again, maybe a hinged chest piece so that it could be pushed in in fighter mode, and pulled out for battroid mode. Regarding the landing gear, i saw those areas too. In that frontal line art image from Cyc, it seemed like they stuck pretty far apart. Not bashing the toynami, they probably put it in the best place they thought, I was just wondering what the line art showed. Damn anime magic! Anyone have that though?
  4. I like the arrow pointing to her cleavage and the arrows pointing to her crotch. Actually, I see the point made about the gun on her back. Kinda just vanishes doesn't it? And personally, I like Tommy Yune's take on the character. Like when different artists draw Batman, Spiderman, or any other character, I enjoy seeing how one artist to the next will give their rendition of the character.
  5. Thanks for the line art, Cyc! So based on that, really, is there any reason why that chestpiece is touching the ground? I understand it for robot mode, but in fighter mode, couldn't it have been deisgned to hinge in or something so that it wasn't a problem? Also, is there any line art showing how the wheels are supposed to be deployed from the fighter and from where?
  6. Does anybody have the line art to compare it to? I'm curious to see just how far off the ground the chest is in the line art. Otherwise, it looks pretty nifty to me. Time will tell.
  7. I wonder if they'll eventually go through everyone else too...Ben, Max, Miriya. Actually, Miriya's TV Q-Rau on the other end of a TV Max bookend set would be pretty cool.
  8. Also, not that he's an expert, but this is one guys thoughts on A Kite (includes some old posts): http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.ph...666f4d352112c91 http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.ph...666f4d352112c91 On hentai & anime: http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.ph...666f4d352112c91 http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.ph...666f4d352112c91 More on Night Shift Nurses: http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.ph...666f4d352112c91
  9. I liked Kite cut. I liked Kite, the Director's Cut. And I'll probably enjoy Kite fully restored. I liked Mezzo Forte. But thought the hentai was just too arbitrary. Can't wait to see the series though. Hentai: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hentai Child Pornography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_pornography Real child porn = Bad. Cartoon child porn = Legal. "The United States Supreme Court decided in 2002 that the American prohibition of simulated child pornography is unconstitutional (Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition)."
  10. Damn you Soze! AKIRA BIKE! AKIRA BIKE!! AKIRA BIKE!!!
  11. VERY cool! Light tables rock. Is that your entire macross collection, or is there anything you left out? Did you have a plan for adding more pieces, or is that what the spiral staircase is for? More pics!
  12. BRILLIANT WORK! Your care and skill really show in this custom. Fantastic job! Can't wait to see your next projects!!
  13. I just wanted to say MANY thanks to Rob and Alex!
  14. Heya drifand, Saw the review on TBDX last night. I'm so jealous!!! That thing is awesome!!! Love all the realistic action, clip, bullets, everything!
  15. No problems with mine really. What's really cool is that it's also good for the SOC EVA figures.
  16. SPIRAL ZONE. (Japanese version) Obscure? Check. Under-rated? Check. KILLER toys? Check. I agree with Graham, these are awesome, but a bitch to collect.
  17. Definitely messed up a bunch of GI Joe figures. Lots of switching and painting to make my own new characters... Also took a red marker to the eye of my green alpha. Didn't like how plain it looked, so i thought I'd color it in. It actually doesn't look TOO bad, IMO.
  18. Well done!!! You should have no worries about this being your first 1/6" figure custom. Looks great to me.
  19. Impressive. MOST Impressive. So you and you GF are toy dealers?
  20. Culver City, CA. decimal / deg-min-sec latitude 33.9948 / 33° 59' 41" longitude -118.3991 / -118° 23' 56"
  21. I thought they were the same. Obviously they are not in the designation VE-1 vs. VEFR-1. Maybe the VEFR-1 has anti-radiation missiles or jammers but they look the same as the VE-1. Aside from the minor differences I can tell from the drawings, like modifications on the wings and fins, a BIG difference I see is that there are no boosters and armor. How does the radome attach? Inquiring minds want to know!
