  1. Awesome, thanks... Oh the face of regret... I could have gotten a box of those thing for $50 and now they're hawking them at ebay for $30 each

Limbo: Wow, that's quite a steep price for each of these... Guess I'm lucky enough to have been given one by a friend, same VF-1A as the one on your pic above.

  2. Over at Starshipmodeler forums, one of the owners reported news from Japan, stating that some have been announced while others will be made official soon......but he's saying another 1/72 VF-11B kit is coming AND a VF-11D!!! I'll keep my eye out for any more info and asked if the 11D was a typo but if not......he'll ya!

Here is the post from SSM:

In addition to Fujimi's 1/24 Bladerunner Spinner, here are some upcoming releases from the big boys in Japan (some have been announced, some will be official later this month)

    Hasegawa:

    MaK Grosser Hunde

1/72 Captain Harlock Space Wolf SW190

    1/72 Macross VF-11D Thunderbolt

    1/72 Macross VF-11B Thunderbolt

Eggplane F-22 Raptor - in an assortment that also brings back the classic Eggplanes SR-71, A-6 Intruder and AV-8 Harrier

    Aoshima:

    1/72 Lunar Orbital Satellite

    Chris

But the Hasegawa 1/72 VF-11B was released just last June...

A VF-11D from Hasegawa though... this one will be sweet. And yeah, +1 on Hase hopefully releasing the Super Packs for these bad boys.

  3. Hi all, been a long time member but haven't had the chance to properly introduce myself yet, though some of you may know me a bit. I'm from the Philippines, and a long time Macross fan. It aired in local channel IBC-13 (along with Transformers, G.I. Joe and Thundersub) way back '85 or '86, and a broadcast of DYRL in local channel PTV-4 (now NBN-4) at around the same time.

But due to lack of other Macross (and other anime) shows and merchandise locally (and the Internet wasn't around yet then, at least not in the Philippines), my attention turned to the Robotech novels by Jack McKinney. I still kept looking for Macross shows in either Betamax or VHS format (managed to get a poor copy of DYRL and Macross II), as well as Macross kits (very pricey ARII kits at the time). But as funny or as silly as this may sound to most of you, I owe it to RT for keeping my passion to look for more Macross stuff that are available out there...

Now, thanks to the Internet and online shops, my Macross collection is slowly but surely catching up (I just got a slew of Hasegawa VF-1 kits this year, as well as various Macross mooks and magazines bought second hand). I collect Gundam and other mecha kits and merchandise as well, with my Gundam kits constituting around 65% of my current mecha collection. Mecha kits and merchandise are nowhere near as numerous here in the Philippines as it probably is in say Hong Kong or some states in the US, but over all, it's a good time to be a collector now compared to about 20 or so years ago. :)

  4. The poster came from the Gold book, and was in there forever. I have two of the poster, so I decided to open it up, and let the folds relax a bit. These pics were taken right after going into the archive book.

Ah, so that poster came from the Gold book, I was wondering where it came from. I got mine from a neighbor in our previous place. He heard that I was a Macross nut, and sold me the poster for PhP 200 (US$1 = PhP35 or somewhere at that rate at that time). Was that a good deal? Assuming it was a legit poster...

  5. ^ @jasonc: i got a copy of that last poster (VF-1 cutaway schematic), same exact silver lineart on black background. it's a bit more crumpled than yours though. hoping to have it framed sometime so i can put it up properly :)

EDIT: oh yeah, got 2 of the Ishtar posters too, from their respective VF-2SS kits...

  6. yeah, landing gears ought to be a no-brainer for fighter mode VF kits... Wave did it, and Bandai sure did it on their older kits (VF-2SS, VF-1 variants) and even the newer 1/72 MacF kits, so why not for 1/100 MacF kits right?

  7. I think the dust might help in preventing yellowing. I mean the dust is like a thin blanket preventing light from penetrating the plastic layers NO???

PAINT will help protect the kit. DUST will make it look awful.

And yes, even if you place the models in a glass enclosed display cabinet, dust will ultimately still accumulate unless your display cabinet is hermetically sealed. A well ventilated room (exhaust fans installed, etc.) will help minimize the dust on them models.
