Agreed. The internet has turned into a cesspool of negativity. This forum is an oasis in that.

I know I may sound cheesy or too sentimental, but I had to say it. I am glad you can see it too. My experiences in other forums are mostly good, and I can't complain. The love i see here though, it is pretty spectacular.

I had a long night at work... Everyone is wearing masks, and the morale is not great. I work for a hospital, and my job has become more challenging with this f****** covid19. I don't even want to go to work anymore, if i am honest. Just a bit down right now, and you guys are lift me up. You all take care out there, and use your masks. The war is not over yet.

I used to talk to a collector friend of mine about opening a collector’s museum someday. Would be pretty fun and a great way to keep it all going.

In a way, we are all sort of Kawamori's museums. I am just glad i found you all, so we can celebrate and share these works of art.

This is, bar none, the best forum I have ever been a part of. I just want to say thanks to Graham, Shawn, and the rest of our members.

    I love you guys

You are not allowed to die because 1) we'd miss you and 2) our pocketbooks couldn't afford it.

    This.

Also, another gratuitous pic for the thread.

Don't know if you have seen the custom I have. There is another in the works right now too. One for each mode.:p

@sqidd If you don't mind i am going to save your pictures. That is a work of art. maybe one day I'd customize mine.

There’s a few other threads down in The Workshop section showing off mods to other custom SDF-1’s:  http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/forum/23-the-workshop/

There’s also @nightmareB4macross’s “customized to the hilt” version:

He gave a ton of tips on how to add more articulation and features to the old toy.

I had a few mistakes here and there, but the final product came out pretty good:

It helps that the one I bought off of eBay had busted shoulders out of the box.  Gave me the incentive to fix her up.

Very cool Mog, thanks for sharing!

Oh man, leave it. It's awesome! So much conveyed in a single look. Fantastic!:good:

That said, I would expect it out of Roy more than Hikaru.

Put the cavity fillers in though. I'm going to have a stroke!

i do like the cavity fillers too, but it is not a deal breaker. If the animation would have not shown those gap fillers, i would have been perfectly ok without them. I love Kawamori's VF-1 design too much anyway. Maybe if they make a 1/35th scale, they can incorporate those into the design.

All that aside, I believe the VF-1 legs get more attractive with each iteration of the valk. The 1/60 ver 2 made them sleek and refined. Now this Dxmakes the legs refined but also a bit more angular in some places.

The head position is what I would expect if he had just been hit in the back with a woefully under-powered shot by a an opponents that should be running instead of fighting. Something along the lines of "Seriously? Are you kidding me with this crap? Beat it kid".

LOL. now I need to change the head position...

    Pretty much...

Excellent pic!!! Really like the angle and posing of the 1S head!!!

Thanks Ignacio, I love the head position as well. I was trying to capture 5 1/48,and 2 1/60 in the same picture. I do love posing my figures... every few months...

From the front, you can see how the head is cocked to one side. All things considered, I am lad Bandai gave the1/48 VF-1 design a try. You really feel its heft, while you handle this thing. Also, i like how the feet make the metallic "tiiing" noise when you bump into them with your fingers or nails. I really wish they would have handled the swing bar differently, but hey.... It is what it is.

Really great work! You are inspiring me. Really cool to see Hikkie in Roy's 1S too. Yammies always look so good in fighter mode.

You can use Future/Pledge Floor Finish/"Kragle" to tighten up the joints and use a very small drop on the joints and move it around as it drys. Don't keep it in one position for a long time otherwise it will stay in that pose forever. If it's still too loose after the first try, let the first coat dry completely and then add the second coat.

Put too much on and it will slop all over the place and defeat the purpose.

Tutorials on Youtube as well - "Loose joints on action figures", etc. ;)

Edit: Added a Lego Movie reference as well.

Youtube! You're right, i have learned o do so many things thanks to youtube!. Thanks for  the tip. I 've been meaning to do this for a while now. I bought some used blackseries stormtroopers years ago, and some of them are all loose, sadly. I just wanted to army build those and I got some pre-abused ones i guess. Thanks for the tips @borgified.

I was going to get that Bondic stuff, sculpt a bigger ball joint over the ball joint, and then pop them back in. Has anyone experimented with Bondic? Is it as good as they advertise it is?

    ^Kaneda's Bike!

    -b.

Indeed! That is the Bandai version, and I still think Kaneda is a bit oversized in relation to the bike. I displayed the bike by itself for a very long time, but i caved in lately.

On the other end, she is a tad too small. Sadly I bought her from a member here many years ago, and she is extremely flimsy, falling apart right out of the box. Her limbs just fall apart. I need to learn that trick about coating the ball joint with nail polish, is it?

  12. I have been opening many boxes from the last time I moved. I am organizing the biggest sale of my life, and i found this. It is the Comic Fleet SDF-1 and it fits in the acrylic display I got for the Bandai 1/3000 SDF-1. It is a tight fit, but they both fit in it. I got lucky for once! I may revisit it to place the UN Spacy logo dead on the center, but for now, it works for me.

Sale will start in a week or so in the Sale section.

Bandai's DXs also don't have option parts for a baby carrier and the upright single/double seats for exiting battroid mode. I doubt they ever will either.

They did it for the MHR, yet we don't have it in the DX line. I wonder why.

Off topic but since people are talking about how long they have been here when was it called Shawn and Graham’s macross forum?

When I signed up nearly 20 years ago it was already called Shawn & Grahams's.

Special thanks to them for years of information, and the creation of many friendships.
