  1. Not really one of my favourite valkyries, and I'm looking forward to completing the DYRL team rather than a TV version team. Extra points about the fixed pose hands, though.
  2. The actual retail price is 14800 yen, around 121 USD, but that is if you get it from a shop like hlj. Prices in US stores are like 154 USD.
  3. Once you get it, check the instruction manual for pics of every part of the valkyrie, and check to see the BP8 part. It's the part that supports the part with the tailfins. Just don't pull that part here and there and you should be fine.
  4. Heh, thanks. Out of all the schemes I could get cheaper than retail, his was the most attractive in my opinion.
  5. It took me longer than that because I could not figure out where all the locking points were (I did it without instructions). My next target is a set of armour parts for my valk, then Roy's 1/48. A set of fastpacks for him, Max's TV 1J...and then probably the rest of the DYRL team. Maybe more armour parts. It's an addiction...
  6. Trust me, either would have you forking for the second one in a number of days. In my opinion, you should get the stealth version if you want the extra fixed pose hands (the DYRL valks don't have them), but to me, Roy's looks much cooler.
  7. Edit-Looking at the neglected instruction manual revealed which part was BP8, and a firm SNAP of the damn part above it forward made the entire backpack sit flush and tight. I suppose I hadn't snapped it forward beforehand. It now support the fastpacks very firmly. Simply awesome figure. Thanks in advance
  8. Just received my first bundle, Hayao's DYRL valk along with a set of fast packs for the jet to use. So far I've only opened and fiddled with the Valkyrie, not a bad figure, but all tads of floppy before you secure the damn tabs and whatnot in battroid mode. Still feels like it'll come apart when I pick it up by the waist. What recommendations do you have when it comes to handling the valk? Which of all the parts is the BP8 or something that's rumoured to be very prone to breaking? On a side note, the backpack does not sit flush on the back and I feel like the tab that's holding it in place is actually forcing it and it'll snap. And I still haven't attached the fastpacks yet... Thanks in advance PS: So looking forward to completing the DYRL skull squadron...
  9. Had this happen before-they simply sold out all pre-orders for the item until it's released. I swear the same thing happened two years ago with PG Eva 01.
  10. Well, it's been over a damn week since my 1/48 VF-1A and fastpacks are been processed for shipping... Other than that, they're always cool.
  11. backordered on hlj means that they have more orders for this item but no stock, however, they have their suppliers provide more ASAP. FYI, the strike parts were on yellow backorder when I placed an order for them, and I got them processed for my order before they shifted to "in stock". Somehow on topic, seriously guys, nobody's getting kakizaki's valkyrie? Even with a 20% sale, it still hasn't shifted to even low stock and it's been over three weeks. I caved in and bought one as my first yamato valk...
  12. Seriously, ALL 1/48 valkyries besides the C.F. and LV I are in stock at hlj for well over five months
  13. Up until a month ago, I'd say keeping the 1/48 VF1J Max\Millia giftpacks would be ideal for a re-sale, but their september re-release sort of remedied the prices I'd seen them go for. 1/48 Low Visibility ver 1 is valuable as it's a limited release 1/48 Cannon Fodder is sold out at stores I frequently shop at 1/48 Hikaru's VF1J with fastpacks gift set AND the stealth 1/48 giftset are also discontinued and not that likely to be re-issued. I doubt any of the other figures are as valuable as these...
  14. Thanks for your replies! I'm not looking forward to playing with them; however, I am looking for a model that can be put in a lot of poses and look good at the same time. I'm used to painting kits to bring up details [got some practice with the 1/144 seed line in terms of painting] so it's not really going to be a problem. I hope
  15. The yamato jets are a bit cost-prohibitive for me, so I'm checking the smaller battroid kits that hasegawa made. The pictures on the boxes surely do make them look much better and well proportioned when compared to the yamato valkyries, but how's the overall quality? How many articulation points do they have, and how do they look with minimal painting? Thanks in advance
  16. So I've gathered enough money to warrant myself one of the yamato goodies...I've already placed a pre-order for Max's VF1-J, but I'm going to get another one at the moment. I'm torn between a 1/48 VF-1 [probably Roy's version] or the VF0 Shin version. Roy's should come off as cheaper even when including shipping, and there's this whole lot of extra stuff to get for it [striker packs and armour if I get bored]. Plus, it'll look great next to Max's when I get both. I considerably prefer the looks on the VF0 and from what I've read, the figure is an improvement in all aspects except perhaps durability, which Shin's version is rumoured to be. After that, I'd only need the VF0S [waiting for a fixed re-issue] to complete a set. Which one would you pick? I'm torn about this for quite some time, and it goes without saying that if I eventually pick the 0's, I'll probably cancel Max at some point. Any opinions will be appreciated
  17. Actually, the shipping cost varies from what you see. It might be a bit more expensive [say, 4950 yen] but two items together will definitely not cost 9000+. They combine shipping and depending on the weight difference, it could be cheaper than you expected. I once had three HCM Pro figures shipped together, expecting a shipping charge of about 4000 yen. It only cost 2000 yen. On topic-just got Max for myself. Having the set is nice, but paying that obscure amount for two identical moulds is too much.
  18. Sure they do go through customs, but I don't pay taxes for all of them. The bigger and more expensive the package is, the higher the chance I'll pay. Following that mindset, two large macross packs are BOUND to get you charged for them...
  19. Dante-do you really want those two orders to be combined? Either of these items are large enough to be held up at customs, but both of them are BOUND to get held up and you having to pay ~50 euros for them. I'm thinking about ordering the SV-51, but...very expensive toy + all these posts about faults on first editions + near inability to exchange it = I think I'd better pay 5-10 more euros and get a second edition version later on...
  20. First of all, greetings to all members of the forum. I've only found this site a few days before I registered. As a child I had a few experiences with robotech, but my latest experience is with Macross Zero and Plus. I watched these two series almost back to back. Since I've got a few savings, I can afford one Yamato figure within the coming month. Problem is, as I'm reading, most of them have QC problems. I'm not sure if I should get the new 1/60 YF-19 or one of the 1/60 VF0s. So far Roy's and the cannon fodder version are available. The cheapest option is the 1/48 VF-1A Hikaru ver, but I'm not really liking what I'm seeing. Plus, of the VF1s, I prefer Max's. I've already read reviews for most of the mechas, including QC problems and all. Is there any reason I should prefer an 1/48 to one of the 1/60's I mentionned? Since these are the newest [and match what I've seen so far on video] and they are in scale with my existing collection [PG Strike and MP Starscream], I figured I'd get them. Not too keen on oversized planes. Any and all opinions are welcome. Thanks in advance
