  1. Thanks for the link! Watched the whole thing, a full hour long. The mics for the cast are set really really REALLY low, and I had to turn my monitor volume way up to hear them. Doesn't really tell you anything new about the show, but it's neat to see the cast act like regular people. When asked what was the best moment in the show, a lot of them said it was when Galactica entered the atmosphere of New Caprica. I have to agree. That's going to be a moment that'll be hard for Galactica or any other sci-fi show to top.

  2. Tformers: Transformers Revoltech Tfs Soundwave and Grimlock:

"When asked about any future Transformers characters in Kaiyodo's Revoltech line, our good friends at Organic Hobby hinted "SOUNDWAVE" and "GRIMROCK" (Grimlock) in a casual conversation at this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con 2008."

Might solve some Classics Soundwave needs...sort of...

Edit: should have finished looking at Tformers.com before posting. They also have a link to pics of the upcoming Marvel Crossovers. I had thought the Human Torch was just an Iron Man repaint, but it looks like he's not. The Hulk gray(or is it silver?) repaint looks ok. Captain America as a Hummer looks great but seems to have the same problem Thor does: a mess of colors with excellent engineering underneath. The War Machine repaint(from Iron Man) looks pretty nice, as does Carnage(from Venom).

  3. woohoo just ordered nemesis prime from hasbrotoyshop with the discount. no waiting in line or ebay scalpers.

just got my encore minibots and binaltech arcee from tfsource. the minibots are cool and arcee is ok. i like how tfsource wraps the packaging with clear wrap.

My Arcee is on it's way from BBTS, but I purchased it more out of hope that I'd find a feminine head and a set of hands to slap on it eventually.

  4. No new Classics Soundwave planned. First off, I mean come on, does Hasbro really think most collectors that wanted Soundwave, have one? I don't. Secondly, while its cool that the new Ravage fits in G1 Soundwave.....I, and probably most of you, want a new Classics Soundwave, ya know, one that doesn't look out of place with our classics collections and is fully articulated without a huge crotch that the Titanium one had.

I think I'm one of the few who actually likes Titanium Soundwave. I was even hoping Titanium Soundblaster would have been released just so that I could have had a chance at a Ravage for him. Yeah, the diaper sucks. Lots. But he still looks better with the classics than the G1 figure does, imo. Although it'd be nicer if they'd just release a gutted ML Soundwave, which would solve all of our SW needs.

  5. Yup, here you go. This was posted on another forum a few months ago and was the first time I finally got to see it too. It's really poor quality but you can get the gist of it. If you notice you can see probably where TNS got their insiration for their Raider from.

    Chris

Yeowzer, talk about a Star Wars rip off. :D Baltar's the emperor! It was pretty interesting, but the old show pilot helmets did NOT age well.

  6. Cyclonus looks awesome. I have a feeling he's going to tower over Galvatron though. Galvatron's looking to be a pretty short bot. Titanium Rodimus is taller than he is.

Hound is awesome enough, but then he comes with a Ravage to boot? That's just too much of a good thing right there. There has to be a catch in the fine print! :)

I'm not feeling a want for Inferno. He just looks too plain.

That Thor looks like a mess of colors in alt mode, but it's such a well engineered looking figure that that might not matter.

  7. Speaking of Prowl, i'm actually a little disappointed with him. Something just feels......awkward.

It's the door panels, they're a PITA to transform. I think I've finally figured them out though. Getting them into position should be the first thing you do before you do anything else. Pull them out and then turn each so they're perpendicular to the rest of the car before trying to fold them in on themselves. There's a sweet spot that lets you do this, and there's not much room for tolerance.

Something I *just* found out about Prowl that's very easy to miss is that the feet extend downwards for better ankle articulation to give you that little bit of extra stability you need so he can do a standard stand at attention pose without slouching and it also gives him an increase in height. Give those feet a pull, you'll be surprised when you hear it click and extend. I know I was.

  8. I was kind of put off by the fact that the first cylon is apparently a Skin-job, yet 51 years later everyone is like "OMG, the cylons look like us now!"

Just have towait and see how the show wil be, already new from the get go that this was not going to be a action/drama....after all NO battlestars even exist yet because they were built during the war to fight the cylons.

    Chris

I can't completely buy that premise. There's the colonies and they're trading with each other. There has to be *some* sort of police force for that. May not be a Battlestar per se, but definitely something that holds vipers.

Unless space travel's really low tech and vehicles are few and far between a mere 51 years ago, which is just imo, lame.

  9. Remember when films had intermissions? I say we bring that back.

If Snyder wants Watchmen to be 3-hours, I am completely fine with that. I can put on a pair of Depends Undergarments, no problem.

It's the movie theaters that are the problem though. They *don't* want intermissions. After you've dropped your dough at the concessions counter they want you out of the theater as soon as possible so another set of people can come in and do the same thing.

That this is clocking in with a long run time is a good sign. If anything, we should get an extended dvd if the studio does cut it down(and most likely sink it).

  10. Caprica Trailer

it's like the plot of Small Wonder, guy builds an underage girl robot

 at Esai Morales as Grandpa Adama...

    RIT-CHIE!!!!!!!!!

Alright, I'll just come out and say it.....what the hell is this crap? So humans created the human cylon, huh?

What we wanted: toasters, space battles, vipers, toasters, baseships, battlestars, raiders, toaster rebellion, FRACKING MACHINES!

What they gave us: a human cylon 51 years before the fact. Therefore, crap.

Call it something else. This is not what I expected, nor is it what I wanted. Let me guess, at the end of this "show" the military will purchase the technology and lucky us will be treated to a digital schematic of the toaster we waited two hours through the show to see. Blech. /rant off

  11. Sigh---MP TC looks less cool with every new pic. He's NOT G1-toy-blue---too dull, not "blue" enough, and not metallic either. And the new face sculpt SUCKS. Sigh. Maybe he'll get a US release---but with my luck (and all of Hasbro and Takara's past Thundercracker releases) he'll probably be in cartoon colors--which are godawful baby-blue.

I don't think "real" Thundercracker blue has been used in any way besides the original toy and re-issues. I swear I would buy a car in that color. (And almost did--Camaros in "medium quasar blue metallic" are pretty darn close in color---it's one of the two paint colors I've found that are closest to G1 TC) (someday I plan to make a 1/48 F-15 model--in G1 TC toy colors)

Finally saw a pic of MP TC. Eh. Looks a little too plain. On Skywarp it works because of the whole "stealth" vibe the black gives him, but on TC, it doesn't work near as well. And what's with that one face sculpt? Is that a "I just got braces, look!" smile he has going on?

  12. After reading some others impressions of Octane, I think I was lucky enough to get a good one. I'm not having any problem with any pieces holding or locking into position, nor do I have a problem with the head transformation. He can turn his head left or right easily once the "head reveal" is locked. I figured out that you can transform from tankor to plane without having to remove the "claw" shield, which I think is pretty nifty. I also figured out that you can use the "claw" shield as a shield by clipping it into the same tab on the forearm used in tankor mode. He still is my favorite of the three. All he needs now is a Trypticon so he has a pal to hang around with. :)

  13. But has NOWHERE to go in jet mode--like seeker fists.

I'm not the only one who does this, but I like to store the seeker fists in the empty chest cavity with one fist end towards the nose and the other fist end towards the thrusters. The friction there almost seems designed to hold them.

  14. It seems harder than the original or We Love Katamari. And all the levels I've been in look the same. I'd be disappointed if I'd paid full retail for it, but I'm not complaining for $8.

They had some other games in the pile too, but I wasn't interested. You guys might be, though.

Dang it. Went there today. They had one title left at that price, and it was something awful. :(

  15. Fantastic. This *is* the quintessential Batman movie. They nailed the character and the mythos. Things that bugged me at the beginning of the movie were cleverly rectified by the end. The pacing was a little off in the beginning as they were setting up the dominos, but once they started falling...YEOW! I was giggling like a school girl until the end of the movie, and I had a big ol' smile on my face for quite some time after leaving the theater. The ending was simply perfect.

I was not expecting Two-Face to be such a big part of the movie. The movie really was about Harvey Dent and the White Knight vs. the Dark Knight theme. At best, I expected Two-Face to show up at the end so he'd be in the sequel. The character was handled perfectly, imo, and Joker pushing his buttons was one of my favorite scenes. I know you guys are debating it, but I really think Two-Face was dead at the end. It was clear that was a eulogy Gordon was giving, and really, that's just too big of a secret to hide otherwise.

The thing that bugged me about the movie at first was that Batman was often working so openly with the cops, and it's like the writers said "Hey, we have a problem with that too, so sit back and watch us fix it!" And boy howdy they did. Everything's set up perfectly for a sequel now. Gotham's almost a character of its own, and you can feel that things really are getting better because Batman took the fall. He is what the city needs him to be.

  16. Made somewhat of a haul today. Picked up the three Universe Classics Deluxes and three Animated Activators.

I'm a little dissappointed with the new Classics. Out of the three, I like Octane(that's his name, deal with it) the best. That's probably because I can forgive most of the flaws because he's a triple changer. His engineering feels more like the previous Classics waves than the other two, imho. Like you guys have speculated, I too think the cannons are supposed to be smokestacks. It just looks much better that way than having them on the back of the tanker. I wish they could have done a little more with the "claw" shell so it was better integrated in all modes. Didn't the G1 Octane have an extra "tanker" part just for the tanker mode?

It may be because I haven't had them long enough, but Prowl and Sunstreaker just aren't fun to transform. Prowl's door and front fender in particular are very frustrating to get into place without it popping off. QC on SS and Prowl aren't too great either because of the sloppy paint apps; Prowl moreso than SS. Unfortunately I only had a choice of one Prowl. The whites on Prowl, while looking better in person than in online pics, and the yellows on SS just look kind of cheap to me. I'm hoping Henkei does these some justice.

The Animated Activators turned out far better than I expected. I picked up Bumbebee, Starscream and Bulkhead. All of them are pretty well articulated. Bee has ball joints and upper arm and thigh swivels, and I can see why some would use him in their Animated ensemble over the deluxe version. He's just a very well designed figure. Out of the three Bulkhead's the worst primarily because he's essentially a shell around an empty cavity in bot mode, and that his alt mode doesn't fit together as well as the others. Though for a three inch Bulkhead, he's not too bad. The "activator" gimmick works fairly well on all of them.
