  1. Hey everyone! I'm new to collecting macross toys, I just purchased my first one - VF 19 Advance, and was wondering if any of you have any QC issues with it? Also I have the VF-0S Phoenix on preorder as well is it a good buy?

Welcome aboard! QC is good other than some joints and tabs are too tight. Since you are new and this thing is quite complicated, you should watch the 1st video as you first transform it, and the 2nd or 3rd for the super pack installation.

  2. I recall that people here say Yamato VF-17 and Bandai VF-171 are both designed by the T-REXTOYS team, although their site only listed older stuff they designed for Yamato. In fact the VF-171 was an older design and the VF-17 was an improved version with simpler mechanic.

  3. Yes it was not hard to order, only bad mid night timing for us on East coast. I doubt scalper is a big factor - DX YF-29B still have a 30% off on CD Japan, and the hi-metal VF-1J was not hard to get on release and it took CD Japan a few days to sell 30 units.

Now that Bandai have shown us they can read Zentradi alphabet, I wonder if the missile Regulds will be sold as stand alone unit since they have different Zentradi markings too.

  4. Even Robot Spirits price are trending upward. Do the Strike Noir have 2000 yen worth of parts over Perfect Strike? Side AB are going even higher and reaching 8000 yen. I think any minor units will have high price to compensate for expected lower total sale, or just go web limited.

  5. for the sake of a few bucks don't you think SAL is too slow and more of a risky shipping option? Especially for high value items such as Valkryrie's?

The difference is about $40 to Canada, and they only allow the registered SAL option so it is trackable and insured. The chance of a package getting taxed (15% + $5 fee) by our custom is also around 10% with SAL v.s. 95% with EMS.

  6. I would have ordered if not for the crazy postal cost they want to charge now. The VF-19 Advance have a 2x bigger box and they let me pre-order it with SAL registered, but not allowing this one is BS.

For those unfamiliar with Gimix series:

The released ones have been mostly 1:144 scale small airplane models. They have pre-painted pieces, are easy to put together and quite expensive, closer to 1:144 airplane trading toys from F-toys than traditional model. I guess this series will be similar to the old F-toys 1:144 Macross toy/model, but really surprised to see more than fighter mode.

  8. No missiles on the Regult? Don't tell me it will be an additional pack....

It will depends on the price. The base unit probably cost 5500 yen (my best guess), but may require 7000 yen with one extra set of missiles. I expect/hope for a 3000 yen missile pack that come with small and big missiles.

The shoulder ball joints are plastic in my old version VF-1S, but are metal in the new one. The intake covers are flat gray in old, looks metallic in new.

  10. on a side note...wow the price of hi-metals skyrocketed in Japan... around 9000 for the tamashii web 1A`s and around 20000 for the Roy strike.

Wut? Why would anyone pay that when a new improved Roy release is quite likely? I got my Roy strike for only 3500 yen, used/openned from Mandarake at 2011.
