  1. And of course they have the obligatory lesbians on every show now... thank goodness for progress!

yeah go figure lets make it popular for the kiddies

now waiting for the bestiality scenes

this show is starting to booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooore the hell out of me and i rather like the hell in me

blah blah rush this rush that blah blah blah then you have fatso geek boy im telling on you blah blah blah

the show is so predictable. Nothing about the ship no advancement of plot as if some off-shored writers in Afghanistan are making this sh it up on the fly

  2. Darker than Black 2

    Umineko no Naku Koro ni

    Toaru Kagaku no Railgun

    Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Pretty much the only four series I pay attention to this season.

Also, I found this on Sankaku Complex. I thought it's a neat short anime. Very well animated, almost akin to Western animation (What comes to mind is Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Space Jam, I guess Nocturna as well).

    There's an official site too.

    http://d.hatena.ne.jp/Tete/

OMG i cant talk i was coughing so much with laughter. That short was great PURE JOY!

  3. Well in all fairness the overkill is a result of the design being 30 years old and them making a big deal of the 30th anniversary of the original Gundam. I personally am happy with it since I just watched MSG this year for the first time, liked it, and get a slew of MSG models that are all much better than previous years' offerings. So - good timing on my part.

Besides, I'm not in favor of Bandai rushing things. I like their slow pace. The MG Exia comes to us 2 years after Gundam OO premiered. That's a long time - an eternity in normal marketing terms. But Bandai has a great brand, and brands transcend marketing cycles - so they can take their sweet time to give us something special...

As for the "new" series of Gunpla in 2010 - based on someone asking about it offhand elsewhere, I suddenly got the idea that maybe Bandai will offer intricate models of the ships in Gundam? Mastergrade Ships?

I dunno. Those might be fun. Or they might be boring. It all depends :)

I'd certainly like a White Base.

    Pete

um no we have almost 37% of the MG line comprised of Zakus and the like.

Out of the hero gundams we have 28% of rx-78 and their close relatives. This is only the MG line discounting the Specials and exclusives and and GFFMC and all other variations.

MGs have been made for almost 15 years. With a majority of the bad guys being zakus and their cousins that % is almost high 90s. I would say thats a LONG stretch for a anniversary line already. No need to make anymore zakus. I do understand that this is still a big revenue source but with gundam being so varied in styles it could offer a little more diversity. And to sound duplistic.....why in the hell dont we have a zaku flight type in MG!

    teehee

  4. I'm curious to see how the rubber joint covers on the WAVE hold up over time. I read that the plastic joint covers on the reactive armor version of the CM's Ingram actually become brittle over time.

I believe the wave will be more hardy than the CMs in terms of joints. And well the cloth covers just look like cloth covers. The rubber ones look better. Unless you get the leather 1/24 Yammie the wave is the best thing with better proportions

  5. I have this kit on the way:

    m115_01.jpg

Been wanting to get it for over a year but kept postponing it. Hope it arrives before thanksgiving break so I can work on it over the vacation in between turkey.

Noice, Good Choice. Not a big fan of zaku's but this looks big and intimidating. Like a war Machine!!!! My MG Goof V2 (thanks to Pete) is on the way. I have a PG Char's Zaku with special weapons set and my MG Kampfer More than enough zakus for me thank you

But I am looking forward to this new MG GN-X II. Looks imposing and a tough machine for war!

As you can tell i like machines that look like it could kick ass ... ie you have a Strike ISWP coming at you i guarantee you your panties will be soiled.

As for dry transfers. My set of Infinite justice is on the way. Hopefully I dont fu c it up the second time around. And no i havent used tape. I know i should but im kinda of lazy that way and I thought i could do without it. This time around Mr. Scotch will be my friend!

Also I am so sick of all the dam Rx-78s out there. Enough already. The PG was good enough. The GFFMC version Ka was good enough, then you have V2 MG

then you have the 1/35 GFFMC and now this COME ONE ALREADY

    OVER - KILL

  6. You are not alone... It drives me nuts.

But even with all that, everything I hold the dang thing in fighter mode I think its the most bleepin' beautific valk toy ever made by FAR.

if i only had the time to fiddle

even after getting the new version i just use scotch tape the armor plates are horrendous

i stiil think rhe best 21 is the 72

  7. GRIPE MOMENT

Goddamit to hell this goddam dry transfers. Man i miss the old wet transfers. I have ruined my my new justice. I had to take a hobby knife and scratch it off ruining the plastic sigh

No matter how careful you are they JUST SUCK!

Slightest movement and its all messed up. Why cant they stick to stickers!!!!!!

    WHY!

Wet transfers were great why change to something more difficult!

    one more time GODDAMIT

I guess now i have to spend an extra 15 bucks to buy the stickers and make one more attempt to hide the ugliness that is now there GODDAMIT

  8. Thanks for explaining about the differences between the SEED Gundams. I will admit that pictures NEVER do justice to the complex workings of Gundam models - if you JUST look at the picture, you never get as good an idea of the thing as you do from building it.

That said - I have already built the main body and head for Exia :)

First impressions are very positive. The one complaint I have it the neck. It's just a solid piece with a ball joint. Baaad. The RX-78-2 has hydraulics in his neck, as does the GM. The Exia's neck is a little too simple.

But other than that - I'm very pleased with it...particularly those transluscent parts...I was not expecting them to look like that. Very nice. And the swords - with the titanium coating...very nice :) And the GN Drive storage unit with the little 1:100 scale stairs...very nice :)

It's certainly a unique design for a Gundam. It's more traditional than Turn-A, but still different enough to be in a class of its' own. However, I do think the ultimate Mastergrade Gundam from OO will be Virtue - I expect Bandai to PUT Nadleeh INTO Virtue - and make it very easy to remove Virtue's armor to reveal Nadleeh.

Will be looking forward to that one :)

Anyways - please post more pictures of SEED Gundams doing their interesting things if you can.

    Thanks,

    Pete

Cool... i like the Nadleeh. I would be interested to see how they make into a MG. Hopefully they do the Sniper one too.

  9. Not to take away any of the Full Burst's dignity - but the thing with SEED mecha is that the Gundam frame on just about all of them is the same one over and over. It's like - same Gundam, different backpack just about. With minor differences in the chest and shoulders at times.

I know it's the same for the Zaku and Gouf pretty much... but dag... the little differences make a world of difference to me. Like clearly the Gouf is a melee combat mecha, where the Zaku II is more a long range fighter (relative long range). Zaku II uses things like a bazooka and a machine gun, whereas Gouf, although it has the machine gun fingers, mainly has weapons making it ideal for close-range combat.

Meanwhile all of the SEED Gundams just seem to have variations on the back-pack with guns and wings theme, which gets kind of repetative.

So - I DO love my Force Impulse, but I'm in no rush to get more SEED mecha - and the fact that I'm getting something completely different in the Astray soon is testimony to me liking my Gundams to be diverse.

That's because it would be very easy to amass Gundams which all pretty much look the same and don't stick out. I remember that was one thing that prevented me from getting into Gundam modeling for a long time - every time I would check them out, it would be like...they all look the same pretty much...what's the fun in that? Then I discovered things like Turn-A and Wing Zero, and even Unicorn with its' unique psycho-frame transformation.

The mecha from MSG are thankfully distinct enough from one another to also not get boring. This is one thing I didn't like about SEED and didn't really like about what little of OO I saw either - Gundams, large amounts of Gundams running round.

    getting

I much prefer MSG where there's ONE menacing mecha called Gundam, and the rest are lesser mobile suits. And then, in the end, there's an entire mass production run of GMs based on the Gundam, thereby effectively making the prototype obsolete. I like that. It adds to the uniqueness of the mecha...

    Um...anyways...

Yeah...I'm still contemplating Guncannon...but...no...sadly no. No way to get it on a gundam stand...I guess it'll have to be Exia...but...I dunno...I don't think I'll start today...I think I'm going to put this off...I can feel it....

Edit - oh and panel lining...I dunno...I panel lined my Zaku II with a pencil and that came out well. But I actually think panel lining with a marker is bad - it would require painting over the whole piece since the contrast between the panel line and the bland white they use on these things doesn't sit well with me... But I'm in no rush to panel line the MSG mecha because I think that with panel lines they look less anime accurate...

    Pete

Um ok Its your hobby but forgive me for being obtuse. Since we are all Plastic ADDICTS HERE....All gundams are generic ALL Hero gundams

and baddies. In seed, yes their inner frames may be the same but the choice of armor and flight pack armaments make them completely different

I mean one has a jet up his ass. Isnt the that the same as the rx-78??.

The justice and destiny may share similar inner frames but my god what a world of difference. In look and function. The justice is a combination of distance offence and melle Perfect in my opinion all around good mech. The Destiny has a very powerful flight pack I guess used to initiate thrust to cut gundams in half. Looking at the two you see they are nothing alike. Same can be said for all the zaku's and rx-78 clones. Sharing the same inner frame but with modifications made to the armor can be very different. Yes I understand that you preference for one over another but to say because they all look the same um no. Even the wing packs are different. The justice has a flight pack that can act as a Drone/ghost(macross blasphemy) getting more support if needed to attack from 2 points rather than one.

And personally I like more than one super gundam. Convergence of overall technological advancement occurs globally so their should be similarities of design when gundams are involved. I like several super gundams from varying parties and what improvement that each does to be successful in battles.

Ok Pete thanks for the pictures I cant wait for my GOOF!!!!

and in regards to the PG 00 Design I mean wow just wow. I think this will be the best dam PG ever built. I dont know how on earth they can make the design any better but im stupid and not an engineer so i guess the japs will find a way!

Cant wait to get this thing....also does anyone thing they will release a flight pack for the PG Astray ??

  10. Ok - sorry for the..well...triple post .... but...

I've been looking over the instruction booklet for Exia. I don't know why I didn't catch this yesterday when I was reading it (side note: do you guys like to read the instruction booklet for your kits? I do. Long before I start building, I always study the instructions for the kits to get a feel of what awaits me)...

Anyways - I noticed something disheartening about Exia, namely...does he even HAVE an internal frame?

I mean - it just looks like there are policap joints with...well...not armor...but...components...all over. Am I to understand that Exia effectively has no armor, and that the Gundam in OO are just basically walking internal frames?

I guess this semi makes sense since arguably if you can build them from durable armor that is streamlined, then why cover them with amor... but I somehow prefer the Mobile Suite Gundam mecha where you have a clear and distinct inner frame will all the do-das and do-hickies and over that you have an armored shell.

Anyways... the lack of an internal frame vs. external armor does indeed make the Exia seem somewhat...well..impoverished.

I hasten to wonder out loud what the difference between the MG and the NG 1/100 is, beyond the batteries and flashing lights and possibility to build the battle damaged kit?

I mean..seriously - I see no place where you can strip the armor to reveal components, hydraulics and electrnics.

Certainly I see no where near the complexity of a build that my Force Impulse Gundam entailed.

    Hm.

Heck - even my Turn-A Gundam was more complex than this...

    No...what am I saying...

My RX-78-2 seems to have a more complex and detailed inner frame and mechanics than what I can gather from the instructions...

    Damn.

    I'll sleep on this.

    Pete

    1. Dont worry the Exia has a wonderfully complex internal Frame. What sucks on it is that the side hip covers and hardpoints are not designed well enough to hold the Mini Buster Swords. Go ahead and build it. BTW to me the Turn A is better mech in esthetics and translates very well into the MG.

    2. What a goof! So nice I got it from ebay last night. Cant wait for it. Rich in color and cool action poses. NEEDS! PANEL LINING THO.

    3

Finished the Destiny last night. Why so fast it seems bandai used the same letter sequencing for all their seed sprues so basically i knew which part was onthe sprue. Since im on schedule and my Noir, Dom, Freedom and Astry did not arrive yet (I was expecting them for sure today) I decided to panel line my older stuff and Sword Impulse. I panel lined my Destiny after the build last night. Tonight the arduous job of decaling.

Just to tell you about Destiny....WOW. Pictures cannot translate how nice this figure is in the full burst mode. The other who normally doesnt appreciate robots unless they are transformers in their vehicle modes even made a positive comment that its "pretty".

  11. Well - I can give you my thoughts :)

I was so inspired by your model building pace, that I went and tried to be like you. I have finished the head and main body. I quit for now, but maybe tomorrow morning I'll be able to finish the rest.

As for the name Gouf - HLJ's president pointed the same thing you speak of [Gouf = goof/goofy in english] to some Japanese guys from Bandai, but if it amused them or phased them in any way...one did not notice.

Anyways - as is pretty much well known, or at least it's no secret, that one of the big cool things about the version 2.0 Gouf is the innovative way that Bandai has made it easier for builders to get all the tube armor parts around the tubes.

Well - I report that it does indeed work just like Bandai demonstrated and said it would. Good job Bandai. It sure is a lot easier to build those tubes now - so that is a big plus.

As for everything else... the Gouf's inner frame is not as complex as the Zaku II because the Zaku II's cockpit pivotes from left to right (for reasons I don't understand) and you can open the cockpit from either the left side of the mecha or the right. Gouf's cockpit is a solid piece (with windows even) that just opens straight up to reveal the pilot - thus there's less need for mechanics in there. The shoulders are also less advanced than the Zaku II.

That said, just as with every single Gundam produced in 2009 that I have built from Bandai - the colors are really awesomely vibrant.

I mean - finally they have made the colors so vibrant that seriously - I see no reason to add paint to enhance the colors. I remember building my old Wing Zero custom and thinking the coloring to be a bit bland - no more. Every single model from 2009 could just as well have been painted.

Gouf is no exception, the different shades of blue are really awesome.

And of course, I love the simplicity of the MSG mecha; but it is just enhanced at MG scale. This is because under that simple, smooth armor there is great technical detail and a complex inner frame - and suddenly it becomes so obvious WHY it's not necessary for the outside to look complex. Armor SHOULD be smooth - there shouldn't be panels, creases, buttons, blinking lights etc etc on the outside - what use would it be - just simple straight forward armor - and that's what I like about the 70s robot aesthetic in general and these Mobile Suits in particular...

Anyways, Gouf is not as complicated as Gundam, and MSG models are generally certainly no where NEAR as time consuming as SEED models...for better or for worse.

Anyways - hopefully tomorrow I'll finish this guy up and move on to Exia...

    Pete

    cool im sold

going to be buying one from ebay tonight

On Dalongs site the colors are amazing. The only painting required are touch ups

Metallic Aluminum for shocks, gold for inner boosters and so forth

Decals need a thin layer of Nail polish so they dont scratch off

Otherwise Dalong and you have sold me on the purchase thanks

The trick to speed building is looking at it as a Work Package. PM terminology

Legs first and waist so the thing can stand

Legs take the longest so do those first. Then head then weapons body

Then arms at a leisurely pace

Also optional ...frame gets built first then armor. I know the instructions have their order.

Also I like to memorize my Sprues so I automatically choose the correct sprue for the part i need

I usely cut away the weapons sprues clean and get rid of those so not to add to clutter

    good luck

post a pick when its done!!!!!!

And since you like th UC line get the MG guntank Really good !!!

  12. Yeah, that answers my questions - thanks :) I admire the tempo with which you crank these out. I usually can only sit still for 30 minutes per day tops, and sometimes even shorter - unless I'm feeling really mellow, which sometimes happens...then I can do one Gundam after another...

I have to do the Gouf version 2.0 next, but after that it'll likely be Exia. Nice special stand by the way.

    Asfor Guncannon...

You know - I'm really on the ropes about that one. I mean - I'll be kicking myself if I build it and Bandai goes and releases a version 2.0 in 2010...

Then again - if they were going to do it, wouldn't this year have made more sense, what with the 30th anniversary?

Anyways, Gouf, Zaku and Gundam got a v. 2.0 ... why not this guy?

I dunno. Ultimately - I leave these kind of decisions up to my market. If I sell out of Guncannon before I can decide to build him - then I guess I wasn't meant to! :)

    Pete

I like the Gouf (love the name sounds like Goof-Hey you goof, what me or my gundam...haha)

Please give me your thoughts on it cause i have been contemplating getting this one.

  13. Yeah... I got the same notion into my head when I was building Force Impulse - the mecha is amazing... too bad the show isn't :) Anyway, nice Sword Impulse. My next SEED Gundam will be the Blue Frame Astray.

Interesting you say the Justice is better than Exia. I have many times passed up the chance to have Justice, but I think I'm going to build Exia....

Can you elaborate as to why you think Justice is better? Also - I have noticed that the more recent a kit, the more advanced it tends to be - and so hearing Justice is better than Exia also sounds to me like "old kit better than newer kit." I'm curious - it this just on account of the Justice itself being more complex and compelling, or are their technical, design issues that are better despite the kit being older than the Exia?

Interesting - please tell me more.

Ok I like the look and design of the Exia. It has a good construction but it does have flaws. Its hip buster sword holsters are weak. The hard point for the buster swords is only slotted into one side of the hip cover. That means the slightest movement it falls apart. You have to CG the cover plate but I have added nail-polish to the hard-point because it just falls off. So it becomes a useless gimmick and the risk of things being lost.

Also I understand its a melee mech. I dont like that concept. Since its a bipedal machine close combat doesnt make much sense since if your leg get lobbed off It needs some distance offensive weapons. And that bring me to the next thing about MG Exia Ignition Mode (IM). The gun/GN sword attachment is pretty flimsy. If you move it slightly it falls fromt the arm slot and then you need to realign the hand slot and try at the same time to get the part of the GUN sword into the bottom part of the Gun groove and the arm groove too. If you have the GN sword stored, you cant have it posed cause it interferes with the Shoulder beam swords.

The Justice just seems more solid and you can play with it and pose it. Its offensive weaponry makes sense. Also gundams with flight packs are too DAM cool. TO me the inner frame designs in seed work better. It has the feel of a toy. Same can be said for the Sword Impluse. As you can see by the picture im still not finished. No other Gundam has exhausted me in the build so much. And I still have the Noir, Destiny is next tonight, then I will finish my MG Astray Blue Frame and lastly I plan on finishing the MG Rick Dom on Sunday. So next week i can concentrate on Decals, Detailing painting, and Panel Lining which is the most time consuming and finish MG Strike Freedom Burst Next week.

Here in the picture is the Special Stand I got for the Exia. I have it that pose from the First scene in the Season 1 as it approaches earth for battle.

I think the only Gundam that would translate well into an MG would be the Sniper one. Dont remember the name. The rest have designs good enough for PG. Hope that answers your question

    DSC03527.jpg

  14. Ho hum

Kids kept me from completing the Sword Impulse. The Justice is just a fantastic mech. Much better MG than Exia

I hate the show not a seed fan at all but the mechs are wow !

I hope they make some more seed that hasnt been made into MG

Still have the destiny which I hope to finish

I wont panel line and decal and clear coat them until the Noir, Freedom J Burst, MG Astray Blue, Rick Dom

  15. I was an avid enthusiast of Greek mythology as a boy, and I can tell you quite sincerely that the Kraken is a creature taken from Norse mythology, not Greek. In the original story of Perseus, I think that Cassiopeia offends Poseidon with her vanity, prompting the latter to unleash a sea beast called Cetus (not a Titan by any stretch), who can only be appeased by a human sacrifice (Andromeda.) The original movie was essentially a mish-mash loosely based around the story of Perseus, with much creative re-writing. I really did like that particular rendition of the Kraken though; probably one of my all-time favourite monsters as a child.

In fact, the original Clash of the Titans film departs rather wildly from the original mythology in soooooo many ways, but was still pleasant to watch. This newer rendition looks like it will also not be faithful to the source material, albeit in different ways.

what gave it away. the mechanical owl?? In ancient greece the only mechanical thing they had was a row boat

  16. If there is anything more annoying in this world than pieces falling off your MG gundams and lost forever than please tell me.

The stupid little red piece on top of the chest of my rather expensive Exia Ignition Burst is now either in my vacuum or somewhere cause i cant remember when it did fall off. pisses me off to the point i want to smash it! or Someone.

You pay so much money for these farting things and pieces fall off. I should have known better and Superglued the motherfarter!

Now added to my list of growing defective MGs

    First My f91 Harrison.

The rear bazooka clamp could never hold the bazooka. then as i tried fiddling with it i snapped off one of the clamps arms ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR fart! i had to dismantle it and glue the clamp shut and as much as i like this mech the thought always creeps up that the farting clamp is glued shut!!!!

    Next

Unicorn. I love this mech so much. Too bad its design doesnt work well in a kit

Having two modes means sometimes you want to convert it. BIG fartING mistake there. the whole farting thing snaps here and there parts come off, everything becomes a loosey goosey. I ended up throwing all the armor bits in the garbage. now im left with the skeleton. Which is cool. The bazooka never stayed in the backpack in fact the piece that went in the slot broke off. I tried to fashion a piece for it but the nub is too short to hold the weight of the bazooka (design flaw-should have been deeper and the nub wider to hold the weight) and it ended up at the feet of the kit all the time. The waist is a loose piece of plastic. It now sits in zillion pieces. Thinking how I can salvage 70 bucks of dissembled plastic.

and now my seven sword exia. I love this mech too. Now its not complete and show accurate. Should i try to paint some red there or try to fashion a piece???????????Goddamit if VFTF1 tries to convince me that these things are better than transformers im going to throw my YF 19 at him :p

Again transformers dont break Kits do and Yammies too

    fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

    im so mad right now

Why cant bandai expand their cash cow to SOC !!!!!!! damit

Does bandai provide replacement parts for kits

sigh im going to bed im too upset

Well after sifting through my vacuum

a ugly ugly job ,,,, Mike Rowe moment I found it . And it was a blue piece. Crazy glued it on..... whew

that poo is nasty. You think dust is clean. Anyway. Learned my lesson. Even if they say it isnt so it is so Glue will be my best friend for MG kits

    :)

Just got my MG Justice and Sword impluse. I will finish by Wed. and Take pictures
