  1. I like the KA design, but also dislike it as you said that is 'too much' style charge from the anime.

My personal favortie so far is the One Year War animation color RX78! It has extra details and modern design, but also feel just like the animation design.

I posted some of the Gundams I got in 08 I need to post more. Right now I am doing inventory of my Collection and boxing up quite a few of them. I have four large display cases and I wanted to thin them out a bit. Once i am done I will post pics.

Right now my gundam Collection included

    PGs

Seed with the jet and wings

    Wing

    Gundam Zeta

Gundam Zeta not transforming one I think its called rx 178

    Zaku II red version

    MGs

    Unicorn

    Gundam turn V

The Gundam from Astray with THe wings and two huge cannons with the shield with the gattling gun cant remember the name just think its a wicked looking gundam

    and F91

I do plan of getting the nemesis of Unicorn gundam

and the shiny nemesis of Hi Nugundam Zakus one forgot its name also

    Hi Nugundam

I really like the Gundam 00 virtue and Exia new version of them but since I only would get the MG or PG gundams I guess I will never own those. I just find anything less then a PG and MG is not worth the money!

You guys should look into the Kotobukiya armored core kits I have two and they take longer to build than a 1/60 PG but man the gloss shine to them (you dont need to paint them) and detail is fabulous in a 1/44 scale. Too bad Bandai cant do that with their 1/44. Also I have three MP Zoid kits from Kotobukiya and they are very nice as well as mecha.

  2. I wonder if applying a flat coat over the figure would seal in the paint and provide a flat finish for those who do not like the glossy look?

    are you thinking nail polish

I add that to my zoids decals and they look nice and tampoed or sometimes I add the clear nail polish to my Transformer toys with the metallic paint apps to protect it from chipping which has worked for many many years

  3. I would like it to be in the same size category as my SOC Gunbuster, Aquarion, and Dancougar Figures. Any bigger and it would be in "my wife will kill me" range. I think Bandai will choose the SOC method to their madness on this figure. They will make it durable and accurate with fine detail. Why? Because there isnt much engineering involved in its transformation and therefore more room for detail.

    Thats my take

PS HEY G-Man can I ask you to give me an avatar if I provided on to you??

    thanks!http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=28006&view=old

  4. Just a quick question

After so many QC issues. Do you think Japanese customers are complaining to Yamato? By now they should not have any QC issues after release after release they keep having issues and it seems Japanese customers are either happy with their products or they are too afraid to say anything.

    Don t they care?

    Some Excuses maybe?

They can only get one chinese factory to make them where the workers are blind deaf and dumb

The engineers think they are smarter than everyone else and are stupid! (The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results)

They cant afford different kinds of plastics to ensure things dont crack or break????

They think that looks are higher in priority vs durability.

    and Lastly

Are we the ones that are stupid that keep buying albeit a very nice mecha but expensive for what you get considering we are afraid to transform them, we have to spend time fixing them and treat them as a Bandai 1/144 Zeta Gundam???

PS Im not raising the Bandai vs Yamato

I just want to understand what is motivating a company not to improve its product over several years.

  5. I've transformed my 0A several times since I've gotten it. Had I known the seat was going to be much tighter compared to my 1st edition 0S I probably wouldn't have pressed on it. It's not a big deal anyways.

Also this isn't a Bandai vs Yamato thread. And if it was then I would say that Bandai could have made the DX detailed AND durable they just chose not to (compared to the smaller model kit) for whatever reason. It doesn't have to be a war between detail and durability, there's no reason we can't have both.

    I know

    couldn't resist tho

To this day I still cant get the fast pack on my 1/60 YF-25 to stay flush and ON the plane when its in jet mode. Like I said ever so gentle for fear it will go BOOM!!!!! SO I put it on its display stand and put a strip of masking tape along the seam so it stays and doesnt fall of the jet

    TeeHee Yamato

Anyway CMs is Far More worse and I m just upset yamato cant get the QC in control because they do make some great valks. Maybe they should give up on making these things in China???? Maybe America. Give those folks some work to do.....

  6. if only yamato could make the cockpit without any detailing and mold the pilot in as a featureless purple blob.... ah, if only. <_<

ahhh did you ever have to make up your mind

    detailage vs breakage

at least you fixed it! :)

I fortunately have no breaks cause I only change them once and never again and ever so gentle

  7. Well Dammit I broke Down and purchased an Alto on Ebay for 223 CDN

I really like the Ozuma a lot more but the dam Neck Thing really bothers me and that fact they didnt use the clear visor or clear plastic visor for the optical units and thats its painted on

    Oh Well

Now I will hold on super pack units the G to see if they have an Ozuma Super Strike Valk then it would be worth the money

  8. It was a bit hard to press the control panel due to the angle but it's still possible but have to be careful not to push the top of the contol panel which I did a couple of times as you just end up pushing the control panel away from the seat. I also let the glue dry a little bit before attaching the part giving it a more sticky attachment.

Didn't try to open it but if it's similar to a 1/48 VF-1, then it shouldn't be too hard.

    Good luck with your repairs.

    teehee

    Yamato

  9. you are a brave brave man!!!!!

Better poses aside, I would not want to do that to a 200 dollar toy

Thank god i hope the prices drop soon. Some of my friends at IBM just got laid off and I'm worried. The hobby shop in toronto Pacific Mall got some in and is asking 300 cdn for an alto. Last time I paid that much was for the SOC Dancouga and Aquarion and I can say that they at least are substantial. No way an Alto is worth 300 bucks

Man I really miss Hong Kong. Too bad! Maybe I need to make an excuse and go visit the in laws in Guangzhaou

  10. Question on Price

Since we are not paying so much for line art do you think 220 Canadian is expensive for the Aldo DX

I m finding a few on the web. Should I wait? Times are bad and our dollar took a nose dive so it seems a little expensive to me. Also I found the fast packs for alto for 139US!!!! Wow I dont think the fast packs were that much for the yammies

  11. No, I've never lived in Japan, only visited there a few times. MWers Save, Sketchley and Renato live in Japan. I live in Hong Kong.

I bought my VF-25F and VF-25S DX in Tai Po in the New Territories in a toy shop in Tai Po Plaza in New Tai Po (sorry, can't remember the shop's name).

I also saw the VF-25S Ozma DX in a toy store located in Cross Lane in Wanchai on HK Island yesterday.

    Graham

thanks I will ask someone to go check. Only reason I though you worked in japan was because you were close to yamato

I guess they have an office in HK

  12. Yeah, I noticed some similar cracks/stress marks in the same spot with one of my -21's.

I think regular wear-and-tear from transformations and taking the legs off for limit-break mode definitely make that particular area very susceptible to stress marks and cracks.

Funny thing my 1/72 has none of that and I have transformed it a billzillion times. I have yet to take a look at my 1/60 but im scared. reading the Bandi Thread makes me happier with all the small flaws of the VF 25's that Bandi is making them but time will tell. Maybe Yamato should go back to 1/72 and diecast as there y-19 hasnt broke nor has my vf-1

Footnote: I really like the Patlabor mecha and when I saw Yamatos version I was pleased and really wanted it. I have recently purchased a GGGG and GFG and i just touched the wing feather of gadget gao and it broke were the screw is???? How craptastic is that. Such a nice mech but shoddy work, I digress, Anyhoo so I was in no mind to buy the CM's version of Patlabor but for 300 for a Yammie one that doesnt transform I think was a bit much! considering all the QCs they have. So I went the middle ground and got the WHAM 1/48 version and WOW!!!! really good design engineering nothing broke, and I like the rubber better than the cloth because it looks more realistic! I will post the review with pics in the appropriate thread soon.

PS never dealt with overdrive. Does have replacement parts for CMs gaogaigar stuff

  13. A few more comments and observations on the DX toys: -

    1) I seem to be one of the few that actually likes the glossy plastic finish of the Bandai DX VF-25 toys. Watching the anime, I always got the impression that the VF-25 had a gloss finish anyway.

    2) While they may not be as anime accurate as the could be, Bandai's mandate was obviously to put durability over accuracy. Are they durable? Well, it's honestly too early to say. We need to wait a month or two when more toys are out there with our members to get a better idea. I've only had the toys a day and a half, but so far they certainly seem durable, but it really is too early to give a definitive verdict.

    3) Transformation is fairly easy and straight forward. If you already have experience with the 1/72 scale VF-25 model kit, then you will have no problem with the DX toy. The only tricky area, the same as with the model kit, is getting the front of the chest plate over the folded nose section when transforming from battroid to fighter or vice versa, as it can by quite a tight fit.

    4) While the arm articulation is pretty good, especially for the shoulder, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the leg articulation. I was expecting a swivel joint either above or below the knee, but there is none. Also, the knee, ankle, foot and hip articulation doesn't have quite as great a range of motion as I'd expected. While it's not bad, it could have been a bit better.

    5) Out of the two toys, the Alto is my favorite and gets a pass mark from me, while the Ozma get's a fail for the overly short neck and skinny warped PVC head lasers. That's a pity, as in the anime, I actually prefer Ozma's VF-25S design, but the Bandai DX does not do it justice in my opinion.

    6) While I'm normally an accuracy freak, hence my preferce for Yamato, I'm fairly happy with these toys. Yes, they have their inaccuracies which I'm not going to go into again, as they have been discussed endlessly already over the last few months. They are however in my opinion a step in the right direction from Bandai. Remember how Yamato started out and how their designs have improved (in appearance if not always in durability) over the years. Let's hope Bandai also continues to show improvements. While I may not buy multiples of the DX, I will at least continue to buy one of each.

    7) Some people have reported that the shoulder hinges and ankles are bare metal. It doesn't look that way to me. They seem to have some sot of metalic brownish anodized finish.

    Graham

Glad to hear your not spouting YAMATO, YAMATO, YAMATO!!!!!

I too want Ozma's valk which to me looks better. Stupid impatient me I just pre ordered mine from a local Asian Toy Hobby Shop! Set arrive on Jan 20th. Ho Hum! I NEED one of these valks in my Display cabinet. I will make a fix on the neck issue and bendy antenys

Quick Question. Does Glossy white plastic yellow??? I dont think so if there was a semi gloss paint right?

  14. First of all, thank you Graham and everyone else for the photos. A lot of us have been waiting for these for a while now.

Now comes the bit where I take this all a bit too seriously (apologies in advance)...

...Isn’t this a TOY thread? Sorry VFTF1, it's your opinion, you are entitled to it, this is a forum for expressing these opinions and I completely agree with your right to voice it (except for maybe that power ranger remark. I call that a low blow, sir!), but this is a product by Bandai. A maker of toys. I totally agree that the 25 is not perfect, but when you consider that the VF-1's that they did were essentially Takatoku molds, I guess technically the MF valks are only Bandai's second attempt at completely manufacturing valk toys (not counting banpresto, obviously, I have nothing good to say about that whole fiasco). This does not excuse their cutting of corners and taking certain liberties with the design. Yamato would totally do a more line-accurate job of it, but you know what..? Ain't never gonna happen. No way, no how. I'd bet Bandai hold onto that licence until long after we're dead. If an agreement can be worked out between the two companies I will eat my hat, but not until we see a Nightmare or Excalibur from Yammie. As far as transforming MF Valkyries go, it's the kit (brittle), the 100s (no 'perfect' transformation), or the DX.

Okay, let's take a deep breath and try to look on the bright side...

Ginrai is right that the hot water/cold water technique does usually work, so the head-lazers are not quite as big a deal for me.

A couple of Graham's pictures show that the 25S DOES indeed have a neck! It's not as well proportioned as some of the initial prototype shots had led some of us to believe, but it is capable of peeping over it's carapace. I can live with that.

The landing gear IS kinda stubby and rudimentary, but compared to Bandai's VF-17's sorry attempt it is inarguably a step up, as is the inclusion of pilots, stubby and lacklustre as they may be.

It does have loads of tampo printed details, and if you don't like the gloss finish, I recommend a quick mask and sprits of testors dullcote spray kept at room temperature (I know that some may say to this 'why should I have to do work on a toy I just paid $100+ for?’ to which I reply 'Why should I pay $100+ that could potentially snap at the [insert joint of choice here] after a couple of transformations?').

We are witnessing Bandai's baby-steps into high-end Macross merchandise.

The price-tag and Japanese website exclusive accessories just suck. No silver linings there. But still, when has being a fan of macross been easy? Whether you are in the Bandai or Yamato camp over this whole thing, I think we can all agree that we all have to go to some expense and effort to fuel our hobby and appreciation of the Macross franchises. We have to hunt and search and save and persevere for the items that we feel will add to our collections. It unfortunately comes with the territory.

Anyway, I'll shut up now. I take the position that it is not as bad as many of us had feared it would turn out to be. It could have been better, but we can still hope for upgraded re-releases (packaged with full armor maybe? HINT HINT, Bandai!) In the meantime I still stand by my preorders, and may even get around to doing some custom head lazers and neck extensions after I finish my next project in the new year.

Hang on... slightly squashed proportions? diecast components? Tampo printed details? Ideas for customizations?

    It's official...

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Chunky Monkey of the 21st Century... The VF-25 DX! :p

    good points

    I hope they improve Micheal's VF-25 G

Only points that really bother me is swapping hands and therefore cannot have the marker perfect transformation.

Altos White plastic if it is cheap TURN OFF as this will eventually go banana yuck yellow

The neck on Ozuma OMG that looks horrible.

The Head Gunbarrels dont bother me as much

    lack of Fast Packs

I dont really care if its slightly of scale

the little white blob of a pilot does bother me

I think people are being a little too spoiled and too sensitive.

This cannot be geared as a childrens toy way to pricey unless japanese kids had huge bank accounts

It is very sleek looking and a cool collectors piece. Again I will say this if you never saw MF and didnt know about it and it came under Yamatos Brand I KNOW all of you would be gaga over it. So anyway The model kits are way to brittle I know I have 5 PG gundams and they are very sturdy including the ZETA. I have the Zeta MG V2.0 and its still brittle with only 3-4 more transformations before it explodes so trust me the kit IS not the way to go! IF there was a PG Vf25 Then yeah go for it! Best wait for the 100s and Maybe the G and Lucas will have some improvements

If your unhappy about some of the shoddy work email Kawamori Im sure he would love to hear from us about how unhappy we are and might refuse to work with Bandai in the Future until they get their act together. The Japanese have a very strong sense of Pride about the things they do and thats were we can take advantage.!

  15. I think the VF-25 could be 1/65 like their older cousin

Thanks for the review and pics

Still looks nice tho. It looks sturdy. Is it sturdy and solid.

Kinda of upset about the neck thing but my mind is made up now its the G version for me. Still willing to buy one as they are nice. but it has to come with the fast packs

also cant belive so many of you can afford to buy multiples of these!!! But then again I also collect a lot of SOC and Transformers and oh yes MP Grimmy is on my list

But you wont be disappointed in the Beta fighter. I know it robotech but they are related to macross as the storey was arched together and their still is the Beagle 1/15 Ride Armor which looks nice!
