  1. Well, the sizes aren't that different at 1/15 to 1/18 so I wouldn't expect them to be that different in price. I'm actually surprised that the CMs is a bit cheaper than the Megahouse. Got mine preordered. :)

I dunno, the sizes seem pretty different to me. I've been trying to wrap my head around it all night to see if I REALLY need a CMS (since I already preordered the Megahouse ones). To try to get a sense of scale, I've placed a Transformers Robot Replica Bumblebee figure (Megahouse-ish size) up against a Star Wars Obi-Wan figure (CMS-ish). This should (roughly) show the difference in size, though I could be off:

  2. Best commercial on t.v. yet:

"YES, IT HAS BEEN REVEALED: GINA AND ADMIRAL CAIN ARE LOVERS...BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, BROUGHT TO YOU BY QUIZNOS. MM-MM-MM-MMMM...TOASTY!"

What the f**k is that?!

Haha! Yeah, a large group of my friends got together on Saturday to watch the movie, and after that ridiculous spot, we all kept breaking silence throughout the rest of the broadcast with random jokes:

"IT WAS JUST IMPLIED THAT GINA WAS JUST RAPED AND TORTURED...DON'T YOU WANT SOME ROAST BEEF SUBS? MM-MM-MMMM TOASTY!"

"APOLLO ALMOST BLEW UP STARBUCK, WHO HE LATER ENGAGES IN SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH...BROUGHT TO YOU BY QUIZNOS!" etc.

Eh, maybe you had to be there...

  3. I think this is awesome news! As much as I love my 1/60 and 1/48 transforming Yamato Valks, they really aren't what I would consider "toys," and I'm always nervous to even touch those things, due to their ridiculous price points.

Now, a cheap and affordable line of Valks that are more than just VF-1s? HELLS YEAH! I'm in. Eh, so they don't transform. I love Revoltechs and the like, so this is a win-win for me, considering the price and range of models to choose from. All I gotta say is: ENEMY MECHA! PLEASE, YAMATO!

  4. Man, and to think I bought my LV1 for $110 back in the day. If only I knew how crazy these would go for, I would've bought multiples. I opened that sucker as soon as I got home and it's been proudly displayed in a glass cabinet ever since.

  5. I meant like...does the story of Southern Cross and Mospeda is on the same epic level as the original SDF Macross series? I don't want to spend $50 and find out its a half baked attempt by Big West to churn out more cash cow back in the 80s. As long as they carry on the story after Hikaru and Misa left off (although its a whole new cast that is introduced) and has some good relevance back to the SDF series, then I'm inclinded to check it out. Also, does Shoji Kawamori or any of the regular Macross staff had a major role in making these "sequels"?

Wait, you do realize that Mospeada and Southern Cross have NOTHING to do with Macross, right? They are not "sequels" in any way. They don't carry on any story from Macross, since they are not related AT ALL.

  6. I don't think I've ever been this close to actually vomiting while watching a video on the internet before. And I'm NOT talking about the Cyclone costume. And to think, right before I starting clicking links from this thread, I was debating what to have for dinner. I seem to have lost that appetite.

  7. SCORE! Concept BB, only one on the peg at TRU. Tempted to purchase Arcee too, since it looks really sweet, but passed on it. Having second thoughts about doing that now...

I wouldn't worry too much, as the new waves of figures hitting TRU and Wal-Mart seem to have a decent supply of Arcee. Definitely pick her up, though, as she's one of the best in the line. And Dropkick, for that matter (I finally scored him this week!).

And guys, go to hasbrotoyshop.com this week and use the promotional code to get some serious discounts (with free shipping!) on various TFs:

"Until October 8th, you can get 25% off your bill AND free shipping! Enter the code 25FALL in the promo code box and enjoy the savings!" Leader Brawl for $30 is a SWEET deal.

  8. AnimeonDVD's review of volume 1 is up.

Looks like the release suffers from somewhat bad video quality. :( Wasn't the Japanese box all restored and remastered? Why couldn't they use those masters?

Well, I took Keith's advice and canceled my order for the single discs and just bought the box set. I managed to score free shipping, which will make the series far cheaper in the long run. I'm suddenly not all that eager to drop so much $ on some poorly mastered DVD-Rs, so any money saved helps. But my 20 year desire to see this show outweighs my disappointment. For now.

  9. Well, for one, they are incredibly detailed for such small pieces... and mostly diecast with nifty little display stands. Honestly, I passed on the larger scale Galactica one night after collecting these little ones for so long (I'm partially regretting it now, if only for the price that sucker goes on eBay), since the smaller scale allows for a much more expansive collection. I loves me some mini Cylon Raiders.

Size matters not. Judge me by my size, do you? :p

  10. fwiw, always use the catalog-numbers to search in amazon.jp , e.g. bcba-3170 for the dyrl-box, bcba-3171 for the dyrl-single, bcba-3169 for the TV-set.

Wow, so it looks like Amazon.jp is the way to go for the DYRL box. You save $20 compared to the cdjapan price.

I've been out of the loop for awhile... What is so special about this DYRL box (other than HD remaster)? Do we know what the bonus features are? I'm more than willing to drop $80 for this set (shipped), but I just want to know what I'm buying.
