  1. i recently acquired a toynami masterpiece alpha scott bernard type. the condition of the toy is MISB ever since its purchase.

however, when i managed to tinker with it to get to know the transformation and such, i've noticed that theres something odd with the hands:

    alpha_3040.jpg

the right hand has a "developing crack" at the pin joint of the index finger - its not broken but from the looks of it, it will after a few twists and turns on the hands.

i tried to check if the hands themselves can be removed to see if there would be possibilities for parts exchange - like yamato's 1/48 VF-1 series. but it doesnt seem possible - although the hands themselves has a rotating articulation, it seems it couldnt be "pulled out" for removal...

or i may be just too scared to exert more strength to pull them out since im afraid that it could result to more damage.

it seems that the plastic quality itself would be at fault here - the plastic quality reminds me of the composition used in zoid kits (circa 1999 to present) that has tolerance to stress which will result to crack or break due to age and too much playing.

i think it can be modified but i would have to tinker down to the smallest screw to do so...

i've also managed to search out some reviews and it seems that the alphas have a lot more issues...

    so...

    1. is it possible to replace the hands themselves?

    2. is there anyone who makes "replacement hands"?

    3. can i contact toynami and demand a replacement?

any help would be most appreciated... thanks!

  2. my reply from HLJ - the actual replies are in bold.

Subject : Re: inquiry on yamato 1/60 VF-0S/A shoulder replacement parts

    Dear Sir/Madam;

Thank you for your business with HobbyLink Japan.

    >so, how much would it cost me to acquire a set of replacement shoulders for

VF-0 arms( 1set) price are 3000yen. It is not include shipping cost.

    >my VF-0? also, are these replacement shoulders already "improved" and will

I am not sure that, but I think those replace arms are not improve.

so it seems that the "replacement parts" are still bound to be broken like the originals...

and it seems that yamato is offering ORIGINAL replacement parts and not IMPROVED replacement parts...

  3. thanks kensei. i'll try to remove them and apply the woodglue treatment.

however, here's something i noticed when im transforming the plane back to fighter mode (from gerwalk - since i didnt push through to battroid mode since i really wanna "enjoy" each mode slowly) - i secured the arms unto the intakes of the backpack and i made sure the "braces" are restored unto their position for fighter mode, and placed all tabs to their respective slots.

this is where i start to notice that the arms, somehow arent fitted well and secured. i can tell because when i first removed the toy from the box the arms were secured tight unto the underside. it can be remedied however, if i "forcefully" secure the arms and legs to their respective tabs but somehow i think something's wrong. i've also tried pushing the sliding braces of the arms to see if theres still allowance but it seems thats the limit.

i'll try to post pics of it soon. thanks.

  4. someone is offering to sell me these "macross super posables" figure that was said to be the "macross version" of toynami's robotech super posables.

    http://www.robotech.com/news/viewarticle.php?id=86

i've been searching out links via google and this forum for pics and reviews of it, but no such luck.

so, anyone have these action figures? are they that posable and durable? the seller mentioned that the "macross version" is a lot more detailed compared to the "robotech version".

    thanks.

  5. hello guys. i've just successfully transformed my VF-0S to gerwalk mode for the first time (actually, i've got this baby since its release, and the only thing i've been doing with it is drool over the fighter mode).

so far im quite impressed with it and i think im not gonna transform it to battroid mode just yet. however, i noticed that the ball joints for the upper arms is somewhat loose - and it cant seem to "carry" the whole weight of the arm (let alone when you equip the gunpod!). so...

    1. is this an issue of the 1/60 VF-0S? if i recall the issue was the loose "swivel point" by the elbow area.

    2. i noticed that by the upper arms theres this screw that secures the upper arm to the ball joint. if its possible, im considering to dismantle it and apply some crazyglue over the ball joint and socket area to "tighten" it. (to me, its somewhat unforgivable.) so has anyone ever tried this?

    thanks in advance!
