    Even More TV Movie News

Hi folks...I'm fresh back from my lovely Maine vacation and had to post some updated info from Sitrep sources regarding the first BATTLESTAR GALACTICA TV Movie.

The first of a possible three films is now in development. The studio has reportedly offered a deal to Dean Stockwell, and is interested in making deals with Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas, Grace Park, Michael Hogan and Katee Sackhoff, among others, for this film.

Jane Espenson will write the script, and as we said recently, Edward James Olmos will be directing.

And that pretty much ensures the TV movie will be pure awesome and win (at least in the character development front; I've yet to see an action scene directed by Olmos, but if his influence in his action scenes are anything to go by, they will be gritty and oh-so-bloody).

  2. Well it has been floated out there that it could be a giant movie prop from DYRL or from the Drama series mentioned. It could just as well be a Megalord class SDF left over from an early colonization fleet. We probably won't know unit the next episode if it is indeed the real iconic SDF-1 Macross.

Not only is the Macross in another planet, but the next episode preview includes a shot of the Macross in space flying in formation with

Guantanamo class stealth carriers and some unknown ships. You could assume it was brought back into active duty sometime after VFX2 for some reason. Here is it: http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/9506/sn...27080748it0.jpg

  3. One shot. Not even the movement of the people inside the ships, for I was expecting it, but that shot of blue and gray and black and the Sun. Galactica and the fleet and the Cylons found Earth. It made me cry.

Then I heard the Geiger counter, and I cried again.

Gods, that was amazing. And I can't wait to see what happens next. SciFi might be a little beyotch by stretching it as much as they possibly can, but if I were them I would do it too.

Edit: Removed the Spoiler tags since everybody has spoiled this to hell and back already.

  4. Anyone know the title of the BGM in the ending of epi.10 when Ranka stand up in the audience?

it's the opening segment of Take Off.

that stumped me for a while too.

It's not. Although similar, the BGM is a bit faster and has cymbals and drumrolls, giving it a more "military" feel (think about the beginning of the Space: Above and Beyond theme). I asked about this in the Ep. 10 thread, it appears that it's not included in Nyan Fro. Which is a frakking shame.

  5. Is this the norm in TV anime now? Its reanimated in parts before DVD release?

I`m totally against that for the same reason I`m against Lucas changing star wars. To be a perfect canon DVD release it should be released exactly as it aired on TV. With the only possible exception that there be no sponsorship logos because those vary from station to station.

You shouldn`t try to change history.

They don't really change the script or anything, they just redraw and reanimate parts that were rushed for TV broadcasting. Think of it as releasing a movie where you can see a microphone in a scene and the production didn't have time or budget to reshoot it, and digitally removing it for the DVD release. Nothing storywise was changed, but a mistake was corrected all the same.

  6. Ive never seen any of the transporter films, but looking from the previews it looks like it doesn't have much of a plot and doesn't even appear to have some humor in it. That being the case the series is not worth my time, might as well watch john cenas The Marine movie. At least I can get some laughs off of that movie the way it tries to take itself seriously.

    Dude, two words:

    Shu Qi

Go and watch it for her, if for nothing else.

  7. Well, I'm curious. In Mac+, towards the end of the evaluation period, the YF-19 performed better than the YF-21. However, in their final fight over Earth, before Ghost came into the picture, it seems both pilots were on equal terms? <_<

Isamu was holding back, while Guld was all out to kill him. After all, Isamu did remember what really happened between Guld, Myung, and himself, while Guld didn't, so he wasn't going to kill someone he ultimately still cared about.

  8. Well, our real world technology didn't have the enormous boost that reverse engineering and repairing an alien super dimensional fortress gave to the Macross universe technology, you know. So, you don't really need the retcon because all of that is explained by the acquisition of Overtechnology.

Actually, hadn't the Macross fell on 1999, the Macross universe and our universe would have ended up being pretty much the same thing. Except that they would have had Nyan Nyan, making their universe ten thousand times more awesome.
