  1. YES, YES!! EVERY MOVIE COMING OUT IS GOING TO SUX0R!!!11!!!

I'm beginning to wonder if you guys actually like anything.

I like alot of things. What I don't like is Hollyweed (Thanks Abombz) messing with good things just to make a fast buck. That anything they make will be loved and accepted to the 18-35 crowd. So they are just digging up allt eh stuff we liked when we were kdis and teens and turnign them into movies that will suck.

I remember the first time this project was announced some 12 years ago this month. I was excited and couldn't wait and thought the ideas they had then were pretty cool. Alot has changed since then and Hollyweed has changed alot too for the worst. Not much time and effort goes into making "summer blockbuster special effects action" films like they used to. In the past there was at least a decent plot and characters to go with the special effects and actions. This piece of shoe has neither. These days it takes a really great director, writer or any producer who's a big fan of something before it was a film to make it worth anything. It does not seem like this project has any of that either and Paul Anderson is already a step in the wrong direction as a director. The modern day plot idea is enough to show very little thought went into this.

In other words: IT WILL SUCK!

  2. Having Macross and Robotech coexisting isn't the problem. The problem is from my understand from listening and reading is HG claiming things or saying they won't stop things(as if they actually have a right to stop it) when it isn't clear what they actually have the rights to when it comes to sequels. We know they have the rights to SDF Macross but nothing has been said on anything else. I doubt anyone would complain if a court said HG had the rights to all of the Macross sequels. Hell even TP hasn't said that they own all things Macross. It looked like they were fine with their own franchises and could care less before the whole legal mess started. Correct me if I'm wrong.

But if they really wanted Macross and RT to coexist why not create an unedited dubbed version of SDF Macross. Or create Macross toys without the RT label at the same prices of the RT items. Or create a website for SDF Macross and have it and Robotech.com have links back and forth to each other. Or attempt to bring over DYRL? or 2012 since they are the ones that are directly connected with SDF Macross. That in my opinion would really go a long way to saying that they want to Macross and RT to coexist, instead of backing a manga of a series that no one in the US other then Macross fans and even then hardcore ones have any knowledge of.

See, Effect, this is why I love you. :) That's why I can't believe a word that comes out fo the HG camp because what they have done as of now is very little for Macross (that includes the DVD release which barely has any advertising for these days if any). You understand the reasons why the so called "hardcore Macross fans" do not believe HG wants the original Macross to co-exist with Robotech. You pretty much listed all of what they could do if they really wanted to without insulting the fans by claiming the fans would get confused. Still they have only shown that they wish to claim all that is Macross so they may bury it and promote only Robotech. The small mentioning of Macross on RT.com are just forms of covering their butt to give the illusion of their support of Macross IMO. I've often stated they could release a whole new dub unedited which is closest like they had originally intended (even witht the sorry corny Macross theme music). Thanks, Effect, for being an open minded RT fan who's not out to strictly defend HG's actions no matter what. :D

  3. btw I wonder why Xenogears never became a greatest hits title after its two printings.

That's a goood question I'd like to know the answer to myself. A few years ago I wrote to them regarding that and they replied by telling me that it was a consideration and highly possible in conjunction for the Xenosaga release. Of course it never happened......

Yeah, I forgot about Vagrant Story. That was the third Square game I found truly worth it in my top 10 list. FFT and Front Mission titles I only recommend to those who love stragety/battle sim RPG games. I notice that the casual RPG gamer of today's age find them too hard. <_<

  4. Just wanted to let all the people who have broken PS2s or XBoxs... EB Games will buy back any of these broken systems for $50 in store credit. I know its not much... but hey, better than just a hunk of plastic...

You mean so long as it hasn't been opened and messed with inside. Something about a strip being removed which shouldn't. The Gamestop nearby checked for that and wouldn't take it. I talked to the EB store clerk and he inquired baout that as well. I have 3 PS2 consoles on my bedroom floor that my friends broke in one way or another. None can be sent to EB or Gamestop. I can repair two of them by replacing the lens but one is definately a goner.

  5. I really have to stop clicking on these new movie threads.........  There are somethings I'd prefer to be ignorant of.

Yeah... but when you walk in a movie so bad, it gives you a feeling of dread.... you will wish you had clicked on those movie threads. B)

If I'm ignorant I won't even know if the movie exists at all even when it's in theaters. That's how I feel about this and the GI Joe film. I would rather not know the ideas were even conceived. <_<

  6. Oh, why does Xenogears cost $$$ even used at the stores?  I was going to pick one up for my lil' sister.

    Because it's hard to find.

It wasn't really popular in it's first run, so not many went out. But then it refused to die after they quit making it.

The price bounced down when Square shipped a second run, but it's bounced back up again since then.

And to think I sold 3 brand new copies total on MW back in 01.

JBO, actually most of us from the NES days know Square made Rad Racer along with some very subpar games. It's really the casual gaming generation of the PS1 game fans who don't. It was no wonder back then when they were going bankrupt and created their first (and should have been last with that title) Final Fantasy game. I agree with you that Square is just another video game company and not that special. Despite my 2 top RPGs being Square games, they only have 3 games in my top 10. I was a bit shocked at the amount of "Squareheads" in the FF 72 thread but surprised I haven't seen more here.

Only Square games I really recommend are Xenogears and the SNES Chrono Trigger.

  7. Pretty funny how everyone replied to Ladic with the same thing.

I think the PS2 does so well is because no matter how many times a PS2 system stops working, there are people who go out and buy new systems.  <_<

oro? *knock on wood* mine is stil up and running

You are on of the few lucky ones along with Jolly there. Like I am with my PS1 which even after being modded still works. Still, they aren't exactly the longest lasting systems made.

  8. My Dreamcast is right next to my gamecube and I still play it. The two people in closest proximity to me with PS2s don't play them... they're over in my room playing Final Fantasy Tactics(on PS1), Rival Schools 2(DC) and Tech Romancer(DC)... not to mention Smash Bros, Soul Calibur 2, etc... on GC.

    Meanwhile their PS2's lie untouched...

Hey, Max, how is Tech Romancer? I never had a chance to play it and have a chance to get it super cheap.

My PS2 (actually 2nd since the first stopped working despite limited use and good care) was more or less stolen from me and it never bothered me one bit. That's how much I was bored with the console.

  9. These scriptwriters need to get a grip on basic storytelling and stop trying to rub everyone's noses in some political or ecological thing all the time.

You've been watching Arjuna, haven't you?

I like the concept of Blue Gender simply because the human race doesn't have any predators to keep it's population in check. So it was nice to see that idea explored a bit in an anime. However, I agree that the end did not make much sense. It didn't do much to explain Yuji's connection to the Blue and why only he could "communicate" with them. I totally understand how it does come off as a poor Starship Troopers wanna be at firts glance too.

  10. What makes F-Zero on the "kiddie" console better than WipeOut?

Why should anyone waste their time explaning? <_<

By calling the Game Cube a kiddie console you already proved you won't understand no matter what we tell you. <_<

Why is it better? Stable frame rate, better graphics, an actuall story, better characters, better track design, better sound... do I really need to go on? <_<

OMFG CELDA IZ SO FER KIDzzz!!!!!111

Well, now. I was going to say something pretty harsh but Abombz and Max's replies should suffice.

  11. As for the series not being finished, wasn't the last episode the one where the Terren's took Chicago and Marsh welcomed the Admiral to Earth?

No, the last episode was when planet Mars was "recunstructed" via some gravity device then soem strange unknown alien ship came and took the squad members while J.T. (?) stood back and watched as it all happened in space.

  12. I remember watching the series every Saturday morning, pretty cool. I'm guessing the creators grew up watching Robotech because there are a lot of parallels between ExoSquad and Robotech/Macross.

You are correct. I've forgoten most of the details but the creators were big Robotech/Macross fans. I liked the sereis myself bu it was never finished due to production problems towards the end.

(and Nara Burns should have cut her arm off the moment she recieved that plant mutation shot)

  13. It's about time. Mikeszekely, I can assume you also wrote a lengthy letter to Capcom begging for this years back?  Best part about this is the inclusion fot he arcade games.  I have often considered buying a NG Pocket Color just for Rockman The Power Battles port on it (as recently as yesterday!).  Now I don't have to.  Now if they would only release the soundtracks stateside.

Oh, I hated hated HATED the Rockman Dash games. Moreso than Rockman and Forte (Megaman and Bass)

I've written to both Capcom of America, and then recently wrote a letter in Japanese to Capom of Japan.

While I think that Dash/Legends was pure crap, Transmission wasn't that bad. I thought it was fun, once you got into it... it's just that only classic/X/Zero really feels like Megaman to me. And while the King levels in Megaman and Bass were ridiculously hard, I LOVED the game. I even collected all of the CDs.

Actually I totally forgot about Transmissions. I didn't like it but I didn't hate it either. I dunno but Rockman and Forte felt different for me. I did like the gospel boost tho. Otherwise is felt very different from other games that were not X games. I haven't bothered getting the GBA version either.

Count a vote for Pharoah Man as fave villan. Speaking of which, while I didn't care for the Mega Man cartoon but there was an episode where Pharoah Man starred in it. IN the cartoon Megaman had an annoying habit of stopping and saying "Now, I've got your power" whenever he knocked a bad guy long enough to steal his pwers. One time he did it to Pharroah man and only got to say "Now, I've got your p.." cuz Pharoah Man got up and punched the crap out of him. It just made me enjoy the great Pharoah evn more. LOL
