Everybody's seen this already, right?
Yep. Beautiful kit bash of a VF-1 and a VF-19. Strange thing is, after having models and magazine images of it, the 2-seater S has yet to make an appearance.

Oh yeah, and the "be gentle" advice has no application to your pocketbook...

Amen, brother. Amen.

Don't get me wrong, I love the actual toys yamato makes, but the sticker sheets, the stickers are waaaaay to thick. Has anyone made water slides or dry transfer sheets?
Yeah. Toy stickers (not just Yamato mind you... i mean all the way back to my GI Joe days) have always been kind of bleah. Nowadays I just leave my toys unstickered. After buying the toy itself, I'm not rich enough to buy the Takatoy's decals and other custom sets. I believe you can find sets of the custom decals/stickers at tmpanime.com for about $10 a set. I have never tried them myself, but people speak very highly of them, and they look absolutely stunning.

Most fragile areas are the backpack hinge, the head lasers and the heatshield.

I wonder what the japanese market wants. The status on MW right now is that a few o us are crazy enough to buy 1/48 Mplus toys. While the majority wants the midscale 1.60.
I think there was a poll on the old forum about this.
I can't remember exactly, but I think the whole 1/60 vs. 1/48 thing was pretty evenly split. I for one would pay premium for any Macross Plus item in 1/48. the VF-1 may be the classic, but the 19 and 21's are the badasses.

I'd take a VF-1J plain. I'd prefer the armor system over the fast packs anyday, but i don't think my wallet could take the one time hit of a 1J + armor.

I think some people need to accept the fact that Yamato clearly hates them, and produces cetain variants just to spite them.
Don't you know that Yamato actually hires special in-house psychologists for the sole purpose of analysing the posts of certain Macrossworld members just so they can formulate a marketing strategey designed specifically to piss off said members.
It's all part of the Global conspiricy and Yamato is actually in legue with Bill Gates and the Devil.

Look, let's keep the snide remarks out of this and cut the peer pressure attack. And to those who harp the line "don't like it don't buy it" - you're assuming this is just something akin to buying socks.
Actually no.
If all sock companies suddenly stopped making socks in BLACK, then sure, complain as much as you want. Blame it on society, but black trousers and black shoes require black socks. But if all companies stopped making ** valkyrie with the ** paint sceheme, then boohoo. Poor us. It's the end of the world!
What are we all to do without or perfect variable ** valkyrie?!

All I have to say is, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
Don't bother b*tching about how things aren't canon or how things are painted wrong. Those who actually WANT the toy don't care what you think and don't care to hear such comments.
At least SP1 babbles on about valid QC issues. Arguing about paint schemes and what hardware goes with what Valk is just...

Tomahawk all the way!

The Yamato's -19 wings are too small (and I've alsways thought the nose was too short). It should actually be even bigger in fighter mode.

Anyone got a Hasegawa VF-1 and YF-19 in fighter mode to put together and photograph? That'd give us a better sense of size, since they're both very accurate to the anime. (As a 1/48 YF-19 hopefully will be)
We could use wm cheng's help here

He's got both the VF1 and 19 from Hasegawa. Just gotta persuade him to snap a side by side pic.

I guess I'm not a purist enough to see what exactly looks so bad about the 1/48 in battroid.
At first I felt that $120 for a toy was just astronomically ridiculous. I bit anyway. After I took it out of the box, I felt like throwing my 1/60's in the trash. I was addicted to the 1/48 ever since the 1A Hikaru, and they just keep getting better with every release.

hmmm....how about Low viz or indian Su30 MKI inspired color scheme? Noone really knows for sure if a VF1D is a trainer(i think so but at this point i dont think anyone cares lol) so why not use a color scheme used by another long range strike fighter the Su30 MKI?!!!!!!!
muahhah1! someone make a custom quick!!!!hmm......8i feel...nostalgic...
perhaps another..
NO LOL!!
(to any japanese fans deep in the homeland of kawamori please make a custom VF1D based on the Su30MKI indian color scheme...that way we can trick kawamori into getting yamato to make it without yoshinol and my polls!!! tha latter of which would make him pass out from the yoshinol!)
Oh no, Shin is back!!!
Quick everyone, run for the hills!

You guys think this one is real? Or a fake?
-Jin
Real. Graham confirmed it the other night at a dinner with Yamato dudes. The pics are fakes, possibly even made by Yamato. But the toy apparently is very real and slated for October.

I wish you could have asked them why they're so darned addicted to DYRL schemes. How original of them.... They took the DYRL "A" and put a head for an "S" on it with some different decals. Woopie....
How about TV Max "J" or something unique like the Low Viz? These DYRLs are getting old....................and boring...................
To each his own, I suppose...
-
Ah, reading this topic really makes me wanted to buy one.
I say give in to that impulse. I have 2 YF-21 FP editions and I love them. After you mess with it for awhile the legs do not bother you. I can get mines to stand fine. Fighter mode is just fearsome now. You see that comming and you know it is lights out for you.
I also have the old YF-21 and have added 2 VF-11B FP editions. I recommend those too.
Oh, Yamato loves you.

My low-viz is missing a catapult latch thing for the front landing gear. Anyone want to recast for me?

-
1/48 Neo glaug?
Please...

-
So what's the official skinny on the fast packs and the low viz? Are they meant to go together or are we supposed to wait for the tv series versions that we saw mounted on the 1J?
-
1/72 - 2 (VF-11, VF-19)
1/60 - 4 (3 Super 1J's, 1 1A)
1/48 - 5 (4 1A's, 1 1S)
Damn... that's a lot of money...
-
Sorry to go kinda off topic. Aren't the intake covers supposed to be on when the Fast Packs are used?

Given that they only use the Fast Packs in space, then yes.
-
How about a 1/48 scale SDF-1?
I probably couldn't afford to pay my mortgage after such a purchase but I suppose I could move into it. how big is your house?

The 1/48 SDF-1 IS my house.
-
Don't get your hopes up with that reply in Japanese to your post over at Project-D's site. I just Japanese'd it up for you just in case they don't understand English.
-
Any requests for Yamato?
Yes...
Contact D'Stance http://www.ak.wakwak.com/%7Ejasshy/ and
(1) Let me know how they did it and
(2) Have them help with a 1:48 YF-21
Yes... I know I'm too late but there'll always be a next time.
Carl
That's a really nice gerwalk mode... and battroid...
...
fighter too...
wow.

-
I just hope its not flimsy. I have bad experience with transformable models.

I'd put money down that it won't transform. Ohh, but the transforming customs and kitbashes that will spring forth from it will be undeniably amazing...
What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.

I'm actually not sure how people make it break in the first place.
My advice, when you're pushing it down in battroid mode, make sure that little swivel tab that pokes through the hole in the back plate is in the lowered position and NOT poking through its hole. That way the backpack is able to lie flat to the depressed backplate WITH the latch in place without having to apply too much pressure. If you do that and it still breaks, then *shrug*. I dunno.
