  1. Can anyone post a pic with a Hasegawa 1/48 pilot next to a Yamato 1/48 pilot? I'm curious to see the difference in sizes.
  2. Looks like the Prometheus in space. I don't see any water...
  3. While I agree that this should belong here, there's an often forgotten toy review section way at the bottom of the main forum area
  4. They're on the underside of the cardboard "tray" inside the same plastic pouch that contains the instruction manual and the sticker sheet.
  5. :| Remember, there's probably 20 something more episodes. Can't judge an entire series by the first episode...
  6. The problem with the 1/60 upgrades is that the earlier versions of the 1/60's weren't equipped to attach fastpacks. The 1/48 was fairly easy because it was all planned in advance, and all they had to do was package the armor and it worked for all of the VF-1's. The 1/60's need different leg colors so you'd probably see "Hikaru 1/60 FP upgrade kit" and "Max 1/60 FP upgrade kit" and it would be increasingly difficult to make a accurate product run counts for each specific one. On top of that the 1/60's also needed new hip devices, new backpacks and new arms, and it is most likely too difficult for most people to take the 1/60 apart then put it back together.
  7. It shouldn't, unless you start forcing it higher than that little nib on the hinge will allow. All five of mine have folded completely back multiple times and they show no signs of giving out on me. I guess the only thing i do is be careful. If you start seeing stress in the plastic (area turning bright white, etc), then I'd advise against using it. If it breaks on you, you can also try to order a new piece from HLJ or from Monkey-Nugget's piece purchase system from the topic pinned at the top of this forum.
  8. *nodnod* Seems like everytime a poll disappears from the first page, someone feels the urge to go recreate it.
  9. In atmosphere, perhaps. In space they'd quickly die as the gas in their bodies (oxygen/nitrogen) rapidly expands and forms bubbles, boils away, and turns them into an agonizing hideous and bloody mess. No kidding. They'd be dead long before asphyxiation had a chance to set in. And no, despite popular miconception, people's bodies don't explode in a vacuum - it'd probably be a quicker and less painful death if they did, though. This is essentially what happens to deep sea divers who surface too quickly, though on a much more extreme end of the spectrum. The entire flight suit would have to be completely sealed and pressurized in order to survive if the cockpit depressurized in space. Oooh, brings back memories of Event Horizon.
  10. Except uglier. It kind of looks like what would happen if eva 01, 02 and that automatic nuclear one had a child together...
  11. Beautiful. I guess I'll have to spray those gray when I use them with my low viz.
  12. Which locking mechanism are you talking ? I will try to take a pic if you let me know The backpack piece that goes under the hatch.
  13. I wonder.... if they made something new, without having music as the focal point of the series, can you still call it Macross? Earlier, people were suggesting a side-story during the DYRL timeline but about a different squadron, and I imagined it to be some kind of gritty Band of Brothers type historical piece. I think the whole music as a form of energy and power is being a little bit overdone and the overall ridiculous nature of the idea all kind of comes to a head in Macross 7. I think I'd prefer something gritty and action oriented, with just good ol' fashioned story telling. If they try to work music into anymore series, I think they're just going to end up ruining it.
  14. I don't mind that there's a delay for the MPC alpha, although I wish we had some more pictures of it so I could at least tide myself over until it's actually released.
  15. Try the wanted or for sale forum. People have been selling some off in small bunches there.
  16. I dunno. I took one look at this and I thought it was some kinda joke. Why they made an entirely new (and ugly) Minmay Guard is beyond me. Imo, the fan custom, although it was a little asian-ricer style, was still far classier than this new one.
  17. A what? Firing mechanism. Surely you remember the spring-loaded projectile launchers on toys of old. Ohh. Brings back memories of my JT Marsh exoframe with real firing missiles and click-clack gattling gun noise!

    VF-4 Lighting

In other words, 1/48? Wise guy. If I had to decide between 1/48 and 1/72 it would be a tough call. I don't think I'd want to pay for a 1/48, but I think that may be a more appropriate scale than 1/72 for the reason given above and because a VF-4 toy may have limited appeal outside hard core collectors. If that's Yamato's target market, Yamato might as well give them a 1/48 since they'll gladly pay for it. If it came in both 1/72 and 1/48, I personally would be more tempted to get the 1/48 than I would if it came in both 1/60 and 1/48. But I think Yamato's decision is likely to come down to 1/72 or 1/60 at first. They haven't done anything in 1/48 that wasn't already done in a smaller scale. (Other than a couple special paint schemes.) So if they ever do a VF-4, I hope they make the right choice and do a 1/60 for compatibility with the other SDF:M/DYRL toys; then, if market research justifies it, let them to a 1/48. Well, if they ever plan to do a VF-4, then 1/60 would most likely be my guess. The actual plane is only slightly larger than a VF-1 so it would make no sense to shrink it all the way down to 1/72. I also read somewhere that in the whole greater picture of Macross or whatever, the VF-4 was relatively easy (or was it cheaper?) to manufacture because the frontal cockpit structure is the same. While it doesn't always seem to be that way, if that's true, Yamato may be able to use part of the 1/60 VF-1 molds to create a VF-4.

    God Help Me

hey man, i'm down for it. i think it would be really cool if i could round up the mac heads in my area, make a list of everything everyone wants, either me or someone trustworthy rounds up the money and flies out there for a couple of days and hooks everyone up. its not like everyone needs to go anyway. just one dude whos willing to take the trip and look for the goods. we'd all split the the plane ticket and hook up the traveller with some extra lootcakes or a "nice lady" for him while hes out there, for bustin his hump to get our stuff over here. this seems to be a major problem for all of us here.....$$$$ but if we could get a huge order together, we'd get a bigger discount and everyones happy. we'd have to become communists for this to work, instead of just looking out for number 1, like this country has inbedded in our minds since the day we were born. the key is not to be selfish and look out for the other man AND the brotha man. this is kind of tough, as greed and envy, is what drives most people nowadays and its a hard trait to overcome. we goota work something out, so that me and others can come out on top without having to clean out a bank accounts to support our mutual hooby....F$%# YOU, you capitalist pawns!!! Yes, and you can also ship yourself worldwide in a crate.
  20. Sukebe!! He's trying to cop a feel on a 14yr old!!!! Vostok 7 Gooo Gamlin!
  21. If there's a second round, add me on for part BD-8 (catapult latch... I think) from the Low-viz. Thanks, rob!
  22. Macross TV: Great story and the pioneer for over 20 years of Macross DYRL: Everything. Flashback 2012: Closure for the three main characters of DYRL and a brief glimpse of the cult favorite VF-4 Macross II: Mecha designs, and some nice 80's style synth pop music. Macross Plus: Character designs, mecha designs, story, Sharon Apple; probably the best thing that's happened to Macross since DYRL. Macross 7: the VF-17 Macross Zero: New valkyries and possibly more insight into the existence of protoculture.
