  1. Yes, other color schemes are available.
  2. Yeah. I do plan to accept orders for them in the near future. When originally planned, I had originally taken orders for an initial run. Unfortunately with my partner taking ill I had to shelve the project for a while and ended up issuing refunds. Matt gets the credit for talking me into resurrecting the project so he could be the first to have one. But with the work load as heavy as it is, I'm booked months in advance on just about everything I make, and I don't like keeping board members waiting, even die hard fans like Matt. So you can understand why I'm not in a rush to take orders again just to have people ask for their deposit back because they don't want to wait. It's just not a position I want to put anyone in again.
  3. Awesome photos! Yeah, the lens flare had me wondering if your life was a J.J. Abrams production.
  4. I agree, and as I often do, perhaps I overstated my case, instead of just posting pictures and leaving it at that. Enough said. Yes, Matt and I have other things planned, but we'll leave them to be revealed in their own good time.
  5. You seem to forget that while you may have deleted your post here, the email notification system still includes the content of your post, therefore I was subjected to your literary diatribe even though you hid it from the forum. I apologize if anyone here has misinterpreted anything I've said as an attack. My purpose was in fact to defend myself from negative comments made about me, and if that's not allowed here, then again, I apologize. Peace.
  6. Also, since it seems necessary to say it again, my posting of photos of the helmet is not an invitation to order. I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but my intent was to share a completed project, not generate hate mail.
  7. WOW. Thanks for putting me in my place. Don't worry, I won't be holding my breath for an order from you.
  8. You all have Matt to thank for his encouragement. As Matt indicated, I had to put off several other projects to get his helmet done for him, and we're always booked months in advance at any given time. After my former partner fell ill and I was forced to put off the project for a while, the first people to order canceled on me, and I simply shelved the project altogether. It was Matt who convinced me to pick it up again and complete the prototype, and now he has the first one to show for it. I'd like to accept orders for others, but considering my past experience with the board, I'd rather not have a repeat performance of what occurred when I first began the project.
  9. Sorry. after looking at the old posts implying I'd never do it, I had to prove otherwise. Actually, I was surprised you hadn't shown it off yourself, seeing as how you have the first in the series! heh
  10. Thanks, everyone. Here's the custom stand that goes with it (something the Yamato helmets don't come with)...
  11. Matt and I are still debating a detachable visor/chinguard versus a more stable integrated space helmet. But that's already in the works. ~ Steve
  12. Maybe Matt will be nice and take some pictures for you.
  13. Just a small update for this long dead topic. This is not an invitation to order one of these, just my way of showing everyone who called the project "vaporware", that I finish what I start. Enjoy...
  14. Clear plastic is not a problem. But I won't be making other helmets until after current projects are completed.
  15. A chinpiece and faceplate for the "space' version has been discussed, see above. I should have updated pictures to show soon.
  16. I wouldn't use glass. A full face visor would be vacuum formed plastic.
  17. If the first run sells well, I will definitely be doing other styles and add-ons.
  18. The cost for a finished helmet will be $450 plus shipping, which will include a custom display stand.
  19. It was fairly easy to find a basic spherical shaped helmet to base the mockup on, and having one as an inner shell will be an option, not a standard. It's still easier to cast the entire helmet as one piece and then add a padded liner leaving more room for a recessed visor, etc. I did it more as a matter of sizing and shape than anything else, but having the macross helmet parts as an addition to a usable cycle helmet seemed to be on some people's minds as a cool feature, so it could be done that way for someone that would only be interested in one made in that manner. Price shouldn't be affected, since it costs almost the same for a plain cylce helmet as it does for a molded flight helmet liner that I would be using for padding in a full helmet cast. ~ GM
  20. Nope, not dead in the least. I simply had to push the project back a bit due to my partner's poor health to get other projects finished. Also, I scrapped my original sculpt, and started a new one from scratch so that the helmet could be sculpted over an existing cycle helmet, thus opening up the possibility of encorporating a real safety device underneath for people who had mentioned wanting to use it for such. A project never gets cancelled unless all orders get canceled by the customers, and even then, I sometimes go ahead and do one anyway just for the sake of making something to put on my display shelf. And with Toby Maguire starring in an upcoming Robotech live action film, Macross helmets are sure to be a hot item in the near future.
  21. Might have happened when I had my virus attack a few weeks ago. A rather nasty one called Win32Virut at most of the programs on my hard drive, and I ended up having to reinstall 99% of my programs (Including Windows) from my backups. I'm only now getting things back to normal. Plus, it seems I'm still not getting a lot of my updates from Forums I'm subscribed to. ~ GM
  22. Really? I never got it...
  23. We are taking advance orders through our website, Shadow Dale Creations.
  24. lol Yes, if all goes as planned, the chin piece will be an available option on the TV version helmet.
