  1. Saw it last night and while I enjoyed the movie, the camera work was absolute garbage. Every scene was shaky and blurry. The quick zooms on EVERYTHING was stupid too. Simple person to person conversations were doing the same thing. Short of that, the movie was good. Same Bourne formula that works.

  2. Are you suggesting that imperial ground assault doctrine may be lacking somehow?

I honestly thought the AT-AT and AT-ST established that all on their own. They should probably be applauded for giving this one a stable center of gravity instead of balancing it atop gangly, spindly, tripwire-sensitive legs.

To be(kinda, somewhat, not really) fair, in the new canon, the battle of Hoth was the first time that had ever happened and was because one of the pilots in that battle was a high end Imperial Academy dropout. It's in Lost Stars.

  3. Not sure what people went in expecting. I enjoyed it. Overall, it was funny and had what it needed for a cheesy ghost hunting movie. The originals aren't 10s and far too many people keep judging reboots or remakes with nostalgia goggles.

    That said,

an obvious weakness for me was Kristin Wiig's character. While I generally like Kristen Wiig, I dislike awkward to the point of being stupid and cringy characters. Her interaction with Chris Hemsworth's character and when she lets the ghost out and it kills Bill Murray were ruining it for me. Those types of characters always feel forced. That "cat out of the bag" conversation was a perfect example of pushing a joke that isn't funny to begin with too far.

The whole interaction with the mayor and his aide was pushing me over the edge. It was so blatantly over the top and ridiculous.

The siren on the car needed to be the original.

The final boss ghost was ultra cheese and distracting.

The building rebuilding itself was dumb.

Otherwise, it was an enjoyable movie that didn't take itself too serious at all.

  4. No new specs, the S is just the slim version of the current X1. Scorpio, or whatever Microsoft decides to call it, is the new X1 with the beefier specs, hopefully we'll hear some news later today.

They added HDMI 2.0, and 4K/HDR, choice of 2TB HDD and a slimmer controller with bluetooth built in. They also changed the power supply. The S is not just a slim version of the One. They removed the Kinect port and it will need a special adapter to use it, which they are giving out for free when you buy an S.

Scorpio is still something completely new.

  5. Not sure how much water this holds, but it sounds like a really bad move if it's true.

That said, I know there's a big difference in the comics and the movies but Vader murdered a Stormtrooper in cold blood for seeing him without a helmet on accident in the new canon stuff. He's not exactly kids best friend.

  6. Latest reports from EW state that the levity that was mentioned is not for the action sequences but rather the quieter moments to help flesh out the characters. It is still very much a war movie.

Reshoots are normal guys, I have faith it will still be a good movie. I will agree, though, that IF the tone is changed, it would be disappointing because this is the opportunity to make something a little different in the SW universe. Doesn't mean I won't like it still and it doesn't mean it would be better as a dark movie. The tonal shift may be a good thing. We just have to wait and see. ;)

    Chris

I read the same thing. I'll stick with this version.
