  1. I have scoured this thread, and I am not finding the answer: short of all the accessories, how different is this from the last DX Bandai released of the 19 that came with all the FAST packs a few years ago?

I never saw the first movie.  Why is it canonical for it to resemble the other one?

If I had to guess, it's because Striker was the only Mark 5 Jaeger ever built. Depending on the timeline of the movie, it stands to reason that the designs would be similar.

You mean the Complete Blu-Ray Box (BCXA-0719)?  I've got a copy.

I've had no complaints with the quality of that release.  The video quality is excellent and I took a number of reference screen captures for the Macross Mecha Manual's use.  I can't speak to the quality of the audio transfer from 2.0 to 5.1ch since I watched it on my desktop with kind of a weenie set of speakers instead of my home theater system, but I didn't find anything that's overtly off or upsetting.

I've never actually watched the Macross Plus dub, but I'm given to understand from the Japanese fansites and the disc credits that the "International Version" (English dub) of the Macross Plus OVA episode 4 does in fact have a different cast from the first three episodes.  This was apparently done to address the old English dub's use of different background music and sound effects for that episode for reasons unclear.  The Blu-ray's version restores the original audio for the sound effects and music at the expense of having to commission a new English dub for the episode.  While they were at it, the did a new translation for the script, though they had to change actors for the principal characters because the original actors were not available.

You're the hero we don't deserve.

    Thanks!

  4. Not to somewhat necro this thread, but does anyone own the Macross Plus Complete Edition? How is it? I am reading mixed reviews and there's a lot of talk about them having re-dubbed part 4 with new voice actors? Can anyone who owns is clarify for me? It's a HELL of a lot of money for something that I can't seem to get a solid review on.

    Thanks.

  5. Well, I bit the bullet to see what this is all about, just ordered the #05033 UCS Millennium Falcon, I'll let you know if its worth it. From the reviews of other Lepin kits, they say the plastic is better quality than Megablocs and much closer to Lego.

I'd still buy a real UCS MF from Lego if they ever reissue it, but I'm sure it would be over $499 if they ever did. At $250, its worth a shot too see (especially since the real ones are on ebay for $8-9K), and especially now in case the Lego lawsuit stops them from being produced or shipped soon. I can live with the spelling mistake since all the AliExpress offerings don't even include the original boxes, I wonder how big the boxes are?

    You rock. Let us know!

  6. Uhm, sold?

Really though, I'd honestly be willing to drop $50 to see the quality of some of these sets. They have that new Technic Porsche for $49.99. That's a $300 set.

    Is anyone familiar with them?

Is talking about knock offs like talking about pirating movies around here?

  7. You know, I can understand the merchandising angle to a point, but throwing out a bunch of new designs to use in a movie set 15 minutes before Episode IV just makes me wonder why those designs were never seen nor used again at any time after.

They also need to stop giving every putz of an Imperial official their own (fugly) shuttle design. The classic shuttle was good enough for Vader and the Emperor, so with all the budget going toward the Death Star, who keeps approving these custom rides? :p

I know I'm being a stick in the mud, and honestly I'd probably give all these new fangled designs a pass and even buy them all if they looked good.... but they really just don't.

You're not wrong though. Especially considering the timeline.

The X-Wing is the only thing that endures in either direction of the timeline.

Otherwise, all these different designs, especially from the Imperials, is asinine. New(old) TIEs? His shuttle? Even in the new canon books and comics, Lambda shuttles are pretty common.

  8. I showed a couple of guys at work the trailer today. Cold. Neither of them had seen it or heard about it.

They were both "what game is this? Pretty decent graphics. Xbox?"

Then I told them what it really was. They both walked away with their eyes stuck to the back of their heads.

  9. That's odd. My Target, to the best of my knowledge, never got any and didn't bother to allocate shelf space for it.

Neither did the one by my house. We just happened to stop into the one across town and they have a huge clearance section filled with a Star Wars(Black Series TIE Fighter for around $100  ) and some TFs. Almost missed him completely because they were behind some board game on the bottom shelf.

The actual TF 'section' was one vertical row of pegs, all but one empty and the shelf below filled with Motormaster.

I wish I had space for him and I am still thinking about going back. There were at least 3 there. =\

  10. So... Aliens master FTL travel and come millions of lightyears across the galaxy to...

GET SHOT AT WITH EARTH WEAPONS.

Me and my buddy were talking about this last night. Almost every "aliens come to earth and we're scared" movie has something like this.

We can barely travel to the moon. We can't get people to mars yet. These aliens covered the vast expanse of space, are HOVERING over several places around the earth and the best we can come up with is a military response?

    It's cliche and it's dumb.

Which isn't to say I think this movie will be, because I enjoyed the trailer. Just a nitpick for this type of movie in general.
