  1. What Krlon told me is that fusion paint will stick to fusion paint, however there is a window of opportunity to do this and I can't remember exactly what it is. Call the 800 # on the back of the can, they were pretty helpful. Like I said the real issue is that a clear coat will not stick well, so if you are applying decals they will be unprotected, if they even stick...adhesion backed stickers should not be an issue. I have a can and was planning on playing around with it a bit, I will post some results when I get around to playing with it.

  2. Your best bet is to scratch build, it is not too hard of a shape. You could build out of basswood (or such) and laminate with styrene. If you know how to mold and cast you could take a mold of it before adding the details that oppose each other (ie the towers) and then add the scribing and details to the resin copy.....

  3. Ok I just had a thought. The Takatoku and matchbox macross are 1/3000 scale. While the Yellow Sub Macross is 1/4000 scale. Was thinking it would be cool to make the ARMD arms from the Yellow sub kit and put them on the Matchbox to make a Dyrl valk. What do you guys think? how much of a difference is 1/3000 vs 1/4000? dont forget these are two differnet companies. We have seen what 1/55 means to Bandai and what it means to Toynami. same scale but not even close. Is the models physically similar size as teh toy?

If I did my math right a 1/3000 is 1.34 times larger than the 1/4000, as a reference the 1/55 is 1.09 times larger than a 1/60.

  4. Yeah the 19 will probably need a little work to get the seams to look right.

I actually tightened up some of the gaps before I took the molds, so it should not be too bad.

  5. Got my kits today.

    HOLY CRAP!

    THE YF-21 is MASSIVE!!!!

I am so in over my head.

Thanks MSLZ22 and MYERSJESSE, you d00dz ROCK!

Cool, if you need any help please PM me, I will be happy to help.......Jesse is on Vacation for a week then it's back to getting these out :D:D

I don't think he deserves a vacation but he disagrees

  6. Jesse will start a for sale thread in a few days but it looks like the kit will be $85.00 plus shipping, they are not transformable, the landing gear will be included and I am casting them with a metal rod in them to add sturdiness. the canopy will be vac formed, and the orginal did not come with a pilot, that goes for the 19 as well. Please let us know any other ?'s

    Sweet!!.

BTW - The transformable thing was purely in jest.

Whoops! :p I was responding in a rush and did not see the smiley face! I actually wish it was transformable....actually the 19 would be the only candidate for someone to convert to a battloid or gerwalk model, the 21 has no legs in fighter mode....thanks everyone.....

This is the one that Jesse and I have been working on the molds for, this is the first casting out of the molds. I did this last night (another sleepless Saturday night, I have a rule that I can't work on a model for myself before 11pm when i have other work for people!) it was a quick spray can paint job and detailing just to get an idea of how the kit would look, i will vac form the canopy tomarrow and drop it on. Enjoy.....

yep it's the smt 2nd version, good luck finding one, i think the last one on ebay went for $300.00. I was lucky and got one while it was still in production. Someday I would love to scratchbuild a studio scale y wing, I have already started accumulating parts for it but it is still a year or so away from the start.

Not Macross but.......I nearly finished this 8 months ago then stalled, I deceided last night to caffine it up and finish it off......only took me like 3 hrs to finish, but apoligies to anyone who is waiting on stuff from me anyway. every once and a while i need to finish one for me or i lose interest in the whole thing! ;)

  11. Just a note on the pics, that model is not 100% complete, just a teaser but there are only a few parts missing and the molds are ready to go, I am just running low on resin. That model has no putty on it, took only and hour or so for me to prep and glue together, it required only minimal sanding and the fit is really good for a recast. It is nice and heavy, lots of resin go into this kit.

  12. If you have a pressure chamber you could try smooth-on's 1509, it cures to a material similiar to good tuperware, it will flex without breakage and machines nicely. You must have a pressure tank though and it takes a while to cure so you would only be able to do one a day, unless you made a gang mold.....

  13. Looks awesome Mike, only thing i can say is: get a better camera! Your work deserves a better quality picture than that.  :)

Yeah, the actual problems with these was the resizing, I will try to get some better pics.....

    put up some better pics..
