  1. Got the molds for the 1/48 Launch arm done and i have been doing some work on and off on the 1/48 Hasegawa kit since i got it all those months ago.

Couple of quick pics to start. One of the most important parts of the launch arm to pin is the "swing arm" thingy to the "grabber" thingy. It's actually the connection that i am the most concerned with. I centered a 3/32nd brass pin to go thru the meat of the grabber thingy and the swing arm along with a 1/16 pin on the side for a little extra reinforcement, that along with the CA on the unpainted resin should provide a strong connection.

    Few pics to start.

  2. Got mine today, they must be planning a weapons pack at some point because the RMS comes with extra parts (not listed on the instructions as far as i can see) to have 2 RMS's joined together with one mount point, rather than 3 individual mount points for the TV style.

I was also surprised at how big they were, closer in size to the Yamato rather than the Club M, so i will need to mod a Yamato UMM7 for my current build, unless they announce a full weapons package very, very soon as i am looking forward to finishing up the one i am working on.

  3. No, just stealing the ones from Max and giving them to Hikaru, I can't imagine that they are not going to release a weapons pack. I will be using some left over UMM7's from the Club M kit that i will clean up a bit and add a little detail to so i can finish my 1a DYRL Hikaru up and test out the launch arm i made.

NICE!! Are you gong to put some missles up for sale, till hasegawa puts theirs out .

  4. Made some good strides yesterday, hope to do the first molds on the legs/feet next week.

I need to mold some of the foot parts, cast a copy, modify to transition it from right foot to the left foot, then mold for the left foot. That will take a little bit of work for sure. Luckily i don't need to do that for the arms so that will be the only time i need to do it.

    thanks

  5. I got a little sidelined with other stuff, as usual. But i also ran into a creative crisis with the detailing of the foot. I made an attempt to panel line the main foot, the biggest round part, and i was just not happy with the panel lines, it became almost gaudy, it's a case where less maybe more. I am re detailing it will a bit less and expect to be happier with those results The round, armorish nature of the part just does not lend itself to the panel lines, i will more likely go with light rivet detailing. The panel lines will be more reserved for the arms and body.

  6. Hey Guys, thanks, molds are just about 1/2 done. As usual a combination of other projects and real life has me a bit behind. This week will go by fast with Wonderfest fast approaching but this should be done soon. I just got my order of metal in for the arms so were almost there....

    thanks

  7. I got the elint and super o, and a 1s strike that is almost done, so much of what i have is almost done, need to work on that continuing issue in my life.

For the strike on mine i substituted in a set of wings from the 15th anniversary bandai kit, the resin wings were already warped, but with a full compliment of missiles i bet they would not have a chance, but the styrene wings should hold up nicely. Good thing is that they do not look out of place at all.

I've still got the regular VF-1, VF-1A Super, and VF-1S Strike waiting to be built. When the Hasegawa kits came out, the price on these really dropped. I don't think I paid more than 3000 yen for them.

  8. Took a little bit more time than expected due to a delay at our usual 3D place, but the big wheel thing, the small foot wheel thingy, and a barrel insert detail for the big top cannons is all off for printing now. Once I get those in about a week and a half -2 weeks i should be ready to mold the leg installment.

    thanks

  9. So the "face" plate detail is done, I only need about an hour or two to finish up the base then off for molds. I tried to take some inspiration from the 1/48 super box art with the repeating pattern of the storm grate looking thing. I put in some round detail in each grate that is a perfect place to act as an LED holder. Also, on the top i have this area set for accepting some 1/2 inch clear acrylic hemi's, should work well as spot lights.

hope to have the molds for all this wrapped up by the end of the week. Arm and base will be available as 2 separate kits, the base is big and I will keep it as cheap as possible but it's going to be hefty amount of mold material on my end, will see how it shakes out.

    thanks

  10. More details on the base, the "warning track" was made with masking in mind, used Tamiya 10 mm tape as a guide so when it comes time to paint, you can use it to mask the stripes.

Hope to have this wrapped up this week, the actual launch arm is ready for molds, just need to finish the details on this base.

    thanks

  11. Hey Guys, so i had a bit of a diminished capacity day, one kid home sick and I kind of drilled a hole in part of my hand yesterday, not bad but i kind of only had 1 1/2 hands today. So i figured i would get started on the base. Not detailed yet but fleshed out a bit, it's hollow for electronics and that front "face" under the valk is the perfect place for spotlights to light up the valk.

More to come, pardon the mess in the photo, time to clean...

    thanks
