  1. Whoa, whoa.. wait. They made the full battroid head? This brings up some interesting thoughts.

What I really want to see is the parts breakdown. If they molded the whole thing in separate sections, it's just going to be begging for a full custom transformation.

Funny, they actually beefed up the gullet area on this one. Not in the center, but along the sides, between the center gear bay and the intakes. That's definitely more accurate to all the lineart I've seen. Those little cylinders underneath shouldn't have been visible from the front on the 1/72.

The gear look quite a bit better this time around too. The rear gear still might not be quite anime accurate, but they actually look semi-feasible this time. What I don't get is the way they made the wings "sweep"... I realize there are physical limitations at work, and the wings would intersect the legs if they swept like they did in the anime... but this just looks like a weird anime magic substitute.

The Battroid head is stupid. What's the point? I know I wouldn't bother painting the face of it. Now if they made a Battroid kit...

  2. After reviewing Yamato's QC disasters of the past 24 months, I vote no. No as in not now. For one reason: If they have this many problems with macross valks, god only knows what would happen on an alpha, where so much more could go wrong due to the more elaborate design/transformation. If they get their sh*t straight, sure, why not. Of course, I'm all for 1/60 scale, tiny as it may be. I'd love to have them in scale with the Macross line.

  3. Forgive me but whats wrong with the 1/72 in the first place? I'm new so I don't know. Also photos showing the correct version vs. the kit please, so I know what you're talking about.

1/72 is a nice scale for models, and probably the easiest to collect if you are anal about scales like I am. I got so bad about it I actually quit 1/72 for the most part, because there aren't many Gundams in 1/72 (save for G-system), and I wanted a uniformed scale collection. It was easier to buy and detail Yamato 1/60's and build Gundam 1/60 kits.

1/72 Macross kits are like this: Tiny Vf-1 kits, roughly the same as an MG 1/100 Gundam kit for battroid kits, and the Mac Zero stuff is larger. The frontier stuff is nice too. If you solely collect macross I recommend this scale, as it's the scale not only the best kits are in, but most of the great casters/designers like Moscato seem to work almost exclusively in that scale for macross mecha.

  4. I only collect the big size TF's and MPS/BT's. I used to collect a lot more TF stuff, but I just got sick of hunting it all down, and got more into models. Anyhow, the reason I'm posting is to say that Metroplex was awesome, I still have one, and his transformation wasn't as lame as Fort/Brave Max's.

  5. If you want to rant about PG 00, we have a thread for that here. This thread is for the 1/48 VF-25, when it should ever come out.

It's not really about the PG 00, it's about PG kits in general, and since we know so little about the VF-25, all we really have to base/speculate this discussion is Gundam PG's since that's all there are (minus EVA 01).

However, I see your point. I'm starting to wonder when we here something new, strange we haven't heard more by now.

  6. Thanks for asking Excillon! Heh heh, it's my PG RX-78-2 that I started back in 1999. LOL. I just haven't found time to work on it. It's been converted to the (Full Armor) FA-78-1...but tweaked a bit. See photo below. The two shoulder back canons were not installed when the photo was taken. But soon...I hope to get back on it, paint and weather etc. So it's equipped with twin dual-barrel beam canons on each arm, two shoulder shell-canons on the back, two bazzokas and the beam rilfe & beam sabre.

What did you use to build that? I want one...

  7. Anime/Animation: Char Aznable from Char's Counterattack

TV: Cigarette smoking man from X-Files

Movie: I was always partial to the following: Patrick Bateman, The Predator, Joker in Dark Knight, and Robert Patrick as T1000 (God he was evil looking).

But the all time villian award must go to (envelope please)...Jet Li in Lethal weapon 4. Calm, collected, and made such an impact in so little screen time.

  8. Wait... They're already making a 00 PG.

I was not expecting this. Well, it can wait 4 or 5 years for the price to drop. $300 for a Gundam from that series is WAY too much, for me, at least. Hell, I'd barely pay half that for what is colloquially referred to as the best PG yet, Strike. Also, looking at the PDF from the Bandai site, it doesn't look very flexible, for a PG.

However, thinking of this, they released 2 PGs pretty close to each other awhile back; I'm not sure whether that was Strike and Skygrasper or not, but maybe they'll release VF-25 as a PG, then, hm? Almost definitely next year, though.

The 00 PG is expensive, but it comes with the Raiser fighter, stand, light up GN drives, the whole deal. So you do get A LOT for the money. Like I said though, I'm sure they'll sit on the VF-25 for a while, until Gundam PG kits go stagnant again sales wise. Can't steal from Gundam thunder, right?

  9. Strike Gundam... now with bigger shoulder pads. ;)

True, I'm not big on any 00 designs myself, usually there's at least one MS that says "Badass", but at least they semi-copied a worthy suit like the Strike. I know it's based on the RX-78-2, but I've always thought it looked more Strike to me.

  10. You never know. I mean, look at the PG 0 raiser. It was just announced about a month, maybe 6 weeks ago (the 1st I heard of it anyway), and it's already coming out at the end of the year. Knowing Bandai, they already have a working Alto prototype, and are using it to make the heads, guns, etc. of the others so they can drop them on us like the 1/72 line, one every 4-8 weeks or so. I really hate that, because I like having time to save for this stuff. I just preordered the 0 raiser PG, at 300 bucks. Now, I have to pay for it, then put the money back into savings and pray nothing else comes out that I want between Nov. and whenever I put it back.

  11. What about Watchmen as SF? Certainly has a lot of SF elements.

    Taksraven

I think we're all trying to forget about Watchmen, I know I am. Alan Moore should have bombed that set, and shot the cast. Except the guy who played Comedian, he did a good job. Seriously, I consider that more a superhero/action type movie. A glowing blue penis doesn't make it sci-fi.
