Oh that is cool! I assume that is a new HG kit? I built the old, legacy Gundam Sentinel kit and lit it with LEDs. I shelved it for a while, but finally finished it about 3 years ago. I used Oyumaru and UV resin to cast the face in clear. The booster units are hollow inside, making them easy to run LEDs with thick fiber optics inside.

Nicely done! I really like the lit boosters.

Interesting, that’s a B-tank for a  torch, usually filled with acetylene dissolved in acetone and absorbed into a porous mass.

Looking really nice so far!! One word of caution on those ailerons though: I tried doing my own years ago, and they kept interfering with one another when I tried folding them! O.o Keep that in mind; you may need a sliding joint kind of like the ones the Yammies/ Arcadias have for theirs.

On another note: does anyone have a spare wheel from a 1/72 Tamiya air crew truck? It looks like this:

The one on the other side is missing, and nothing I have will fit. It's also too small for me to try to make on my own!

Did you track down the wheel? Is it Hasegawa?

I'm not sure which Model Graphix  variant your referring to, off the top of my head. But here are just a few of my favorite paint scheme from other modelers works. E2709AD4-A353-4AC6-8DB0-FE329C018891.jpeg.d36cedb4afac37c74c20d84aafab6d55.jpegD95F7A4D-1453-4B5E-BA0D-58DF30A8796C.png.001a26fe659b25d91a98e0167a34d1ff.png40E0C521-11B0-44F7-AB9C-EDB39BC541B7.jpeg.baa7d452017b1cfdacc4e60df399ff1e.jpegDBBE7D14-1EC0-4D9F-A391-5A4927FF789B.jpeg.0c24230da5d4f69c4d6c489d8276b1dd.jpegEAC0D6C0-482A-4736-A1F4-F6E33589884D.jpeg.75d713e80e87fe13b5d47912b093924f.jpeg5CEF2FC4-B005-4706-A93A-4E20858F50F6.jpeg.92e52d4f53a76c6a9163c950161e8afc.jpeg

    There's many more inspirational works..

I’m doing the Bushmasters Squadron from the MG decal sheet (there’s only a profile view - the green one). These are very cool tho!

  5. Hi All,

I'm working on the Model Graphix decal sheet variant along with the flight deck kit. Here’s some progress shots:

The resin panels of the deck need to be squared up. I compressed the oleo on the front gear. Added brass barrels to the GU-11. Mounted pylons for a bomb payload.

  6. ok the 3 panels are the same size: 8 3/4" l x 3 7/8". The grids are 1"x1". The pit for the hydraulics is 7 1/4" L x 1 1/2" divided into 3 sections:  two 1 3/4" and the centre dividers are 1/16" The interior of the pit is lined 1/16" vertical bars. There's 2 tabs per section to mount the shields.

    The 4 shields are 1 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" tall.

It seems to me that it was constructed with evergreen sheet stock and that checks with conversations I had with fellow who made it at the time.

I always wanted a couple of those! I think they were already sold out by the time I discovered Starship Modeler. I thought it would be really neat to try to add the catwalk for the catapult control stations from SDFM along the front edge of the model deck.

That’s a cool idea! What would it look like? Is there any refs out there?

  8. Here’s a cool little footnote in the history of Macross kits: a flight deck kit that was pretty accurate to the deck of the Prometheus. It was sold through the Starship Modeler store iirc. I built the Valkyrie for the box display and I have the sample build. It needs a little TLC and then I’ll post up some pics. I have one “fresh” kit that I will be using for my Bushmasters build.
