I remember when I first started my apprenticeship in the airforce a Tomcat & an Eagle flew a mock combat over our base and although there was no "offical winner" from where we were standing the Tomcat appeared to have the edge.
It made Top Gun look like a bunch of trainee pilots on their first simulator run

Testors Dulcote works for me. Vallejo air brush flat is also good and you can even apply that with a brush.
Don't use the Tamiya flat base as that is only intented to be mixed with gloss paint to make it matt. It's not a clear coat.

That would be me

I was going to make my A/J/S combo an S so I'll have a spare A & J head.
You can have them for the cost of postage which will be around A$8.50.
It may be even cheaper if they will fit into a CD mailer as they usually only cost around A$4.00

I don't particularly prefer any genre, I just watch them for the "big kid" factor. If the show lets me sit back and relax and makes me what to see more of it I will. I don't want to have an aneurism just trying to work out what's going on, a la Neon Genisis towards the end.
All of the Studio Ghibli anime's I've seen have done just that. Laputa, Nausicaa, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service & Howl's Castle all just made me sit back and want to watch them. Grave of The Fireflies just blew me away
, using an anime to deal with such a sensitive subject and doing it so well.I prefer to listen to them in original Japanese with subs. To me the american dubs just don't seem quite right. Enough waffle and on to the list

As well as the above mentioned movies my list of favourites in no particular order is:
Gunslinger Girl.
Got hooked right from the first episode. You never really knew which way it was going to go.
Project A-Ko
An oldie but a goodie although I'd take A-Ko or B-Ko over C-Ko any day

Mezzo.
You just gotta luv orange jumpsuits

Madlax.
Wierd but you just had to keep watching to find out what the hell was going on

R.O.D the TV.
Gives a whole new meaning to paper cuts!
Maburaho.
What more could a boy need than a school full of luscious lovely after him

Ikki Tousen.
Enough "booby bombs" for any self respecting pervert

Macross
What more can you say.

I think the Tachikomas are the 1/24 kits (already out).
http://www.hlj.com/product/WAVKK-01
The tank is just shown in-relation-to the 1/24 kits.
I've got the Tachikoma kit from HLJ and it doesn't have any interior detail like what's shown in those pics, it's just got a hollow body

Great kit all the same

The military secretly brought aboard some dead Zentraedi after the battles and packaged the meat and distributed it to the public. laugh.gif
Soylent Green. It's the people!

It has been 25 years since Kurt Russell made his first appearance as the bad ass Snake Plissken
Will they have wheel chair ramps on the escape craft

-
I'm just starting out. I've got 2 1/60's (Ostrich & Hikaru) & 2 1/50's (Cannon Fodder & Hikaru). I have them out of the box with the stickers on, although I'll probably replace the stickers with decals and add some detailing & wear later.
1/48's are next and I suppose I'll try and get 1 of each type. As a few people have mentioned I've got the money now (although I'm still a big kid)
so I'll buy what I can. -
Testor's Dullcote works just fine.
Vallejo's matt finish in their air brush line works well too (it can be brushed on as well).

Thanks to GunsightOne. Quick sale & well packed

I do believe it's thermoset---Plastruct can at least have SOME effect on most anything, but not this--it was like using water. The wire might work, but actually I found out tonight that the loss of the tab is inconsequential---it doesn't do anything other than break as far as I can tell...
Must have been designed by the military

-
If it's a thermoset plastic then you're pretty well stuffed. Epoxy & super glue are a waste of time and you'll only end up with a big mess.
You could try ether. It acts a solvent for some of the more tougher plastics but be careful using it.

If you use an ink wash it always pays to put something in the water to break the surface tension. A few drops of detergent or better still the stuff used in dishwashers to stop streaking. It allows the wash to flow and not ball up on the surface.
1:4 is probably a bit strong. You'd be surprised at how little ink you need to do the job. Just start with an old paint pot with water and add a few drops of ink at a time.

Thanks.

I've just aquired a 1/60 Super Ostrich and I've noticed in other threads that the 1/48 decals have a reputation of coming off after a while.
Can anyone tell me if the 1/60 decals are in the same boat and should I leave them and get some of the better sets advertised in the forum.
Thanks

Just started watching Gunslinger Girl.
Whilst I think the show is pretty good the concept is a bit disturbing.
Nothing like a squad of cute little girls to blow away the bad guys.

-
I think Hikaru was so inept he wouldnt know how to tap an ass if he had a nympho clawing her (or his) way into his undies. Then again... he did hit her up with an offer to go to a motel in DYRL!
And Misa was zipping up her top when she came out of the room to stand next to Hikaru when Macross arrived back on earth in DRYL as well.

Thumbs up to emerson
Well packed, quick to send and even refunded excess postage

Brake fluid for plastics (non silicone type).
Acetone (nail polish remover will do) or oven cleaner for metals.

I suggest you get your facts straight, the Aussie ones aren't boots at all.
They are fully licenced complete with all the linear notes and other books that Animego included in the original sets. They are packaged differently because they come from HG but I can assure you they are not pirates.
Not sure when you were in Australia last but we have fairly tight laws concerning pirated copies of anything and as these sets are available from major retail outlets it's pretty safe to say they are the real thing.
-
If the funds were available I'd rather see the story finished properly than remade. As was pointed out, how many ways can you kill Roy.
There are so many stories to tie up and progress with that remaking the series IMHO doesn't make any sense.
I've only just discovered the intricacies of Macross (too busy being a macho jock in my younger days) and I would love to see a bit more effort put into closing the story.
-
Yep, plenty of copies still available in Aus.
Just got a set a few weeks back. I got mine from Atlantic Video but there are quite a few other shops that have them or just go straight to Madman Entertainment.

Has anyone ever come across a cheaper readily available alternative to commercial super glue accelerators?
