  1. I'm not bashing Yamato for broken parts, QC issues or any other thing for that matter. I am just not impressed with what I got for the money I had to pay.

I have other figures from Yamato that are very impressive that didn't cost anywhere near the price of the Valk.

Neither am I extolling the virtue's of the 1/60 Valks as they are far from perfect (as I did point out ;) ) but I feel that they are better value for money in the current market and provide a better coverage of the TV versions.

  2. I got my first 1/48 Valk today and I have to say I'm TOTALLY underwhelmed :o

I've got all the 1/60 Valks and apart from the annoying habit of falling apart when you handle them (which is not really an issue as I only display them) I have to ask why everyone goes banana's over the 1/48's

The 1/48 has the feel and look of a plastic toy and is lighter than a 1/60 even though it's bigger. The fact that the legs don't fall off when you handle it doesn't in my mind justify the rediculous price they sell for. Fortunately I got this one at a good price but I certainly won't be getting anymore.

You may now proceed to stone the heritic :p

  3. How many articulation points do they have, and how do they look with minimal painting?

The poly caps used in the joints of the kit are only there to allow you to pose the model. The model and the joints won't stand up to any sort of playing. The pins that the caps locate on will break off with continual movement.

As far as how it looks with minimal painting, in a word Blah! It's not like a MG Gundam kit (which IMHO still looks Blah without some sort of finishing off), it does need a bit of finishing work to make it look good.

  4. HG certainly defends the Macross to the hilt

Just another scalp to add to the corporate lawyer's already over loaded belt. It must make them feel good to be able to stomp on someone who is only filling a gap that they have left by not using their licence to make good products (or any products for that matter).

I hope for John's sake they don't decide to take it any further seeing as they are probably hoping to make a bit of a killing from the upcoming 25th Anniversary party.

Thanks for all the models to date John :) just hope I was quick enough to get in the top 10 B)) .

  5. I'm looking forward to BGC quite a bit. I've only seen 2040 before. I didn't think it was as bad as people make it out to be, but then I'd never seen the original before.

Get ready for some great 80's rock music :D Kinuko Oomori could sure thump out the notes, Hurricane being a perfect example.

Hope you've got the latest release as it's got all the music video's that were released for the series and full versions of all the songs :p

2040 was good but the music sucked compared to BGC.

I reckon BG Crash tanked in the music department as well, as the original rock singer that played Priss was replaced with a J-Pop singer :(

  6. Well, there are probabilities of having incoherent stuff but maybe there's hope for something that explains all, after all is a TV series, and that means at leats 26 episodes. Plenty of room to provide explanation for everything.

I'd prefer to think positively on this.

Why does it have to be 26 episodes?

It would be nice but there are plenty of series around that are way short of that, some are only 12 or 13 episodes.

  7. I would have thought that laser printed decals wouldn't be very flexible due to the nature of laser printing. All high res laser pics I've printed from our work mega bucks HP all appear like a wax film on the paper. With having to apply a fixer over the decals I think they will end up quite thick compared to the inkjet or ALPS method.

  8. Oh you are so razor sharp. I lying mortally wounded at my keyboard because I couldn't piss as high as you <_<

Your name wouldn't happen to be Wayne Kerr would it?

Anyway enough as I don't want this thread closed because you think you're so good and I won't be able to resist a come back

Don't you mean Ch'an wasn't offended? ;) Now if you're going to get picky about Buddhism in Macross, then you have to do the same for all anime that is produced in Japan. But don't stop at Buddhism! Don't forget about Confucianism, Shintoism, and all of the other things that makes the culture different from your own!

I agree that you have a life, in the sense that you are living, but you apparently lack education. Please correct us if I am wrong.

Also, going back to your first post, shouldn't it be 'nature loving' and not 'tree hugging', as the two are quite different and the later is more applicable to the work in question.

I was thinking about that (nature in Macross Zero), and I concluded that Macross Zero cannot exist without some type of exposition and highlighting of nature; in the context of the greater Macross series in general.

Why? One key element of the Macross storyline is the destruction of the Earth and human's actions after it. If Macross Zero were to not highlight nature, it would be a failure on the part of the writers as they would have neglected one of the overall Macross story's main points and theme.

I have no doubt that nature (either the lack of it (ie: crater filled landscape a la DYRL and M+), or highlighting of it) will appear in the next Macross production; along with singing, love triangles, VFs, and the missile circus. I don't agree that it will be entirely CG (CGA's cost and time prohibitive in general) and I hope that it will be a continuation of the post-Macross 7, VF-X2 storyline.

  9. Might want to contact Blackaces as I believe he had the VF-17D for sale at one point :)

I have the VF-1X and the VF-19A if you are interested, just got to dig it out from storage ;)

Some how I thought you might have some ;)

Definately interested in the VF-19A and also the VF-1X if it's got a Milky Doll figure like the others have.

  10. just had an email and he wants anywhere between £220 - £250 without postage

so aorund $420 in us dollars

    does this sound about rite?

It's all relative isn't it. If they are your only source and you're in a hurry than it sounds right doesn't it ;)

I'm sure you'll get them for much better than that (MIB not stickered up) if you look around and are prepared to wait.

Good deals are always popping up here :D

As an example I got a 1/60 Super Max, Super Milia, Super Hikaru & S Roy all MIB for $450 posted EMS last year.

  11. Ok, I just placed my order and give all the necessary infomation, but they never asked for a user ID or password, Did I make a mistake? Now I want to add stuff to my order but I don´t know how to log in :S. I´ve also read the FAQ section but I can´t find an answer for this... I´m finding the system rather confusing.

Why don't you email HLJ and ask them what to do. After all it is their system and I think you'll get a better response than the guess' you'll get here.
