Would you be excited or very worried? The man made Transformers popular and huge box office numbers.

What do people think? Many artists are doing retro 80's sound nowadays, so it does have it's appeal?

Found a great site that analyzed vehicles and events from SDFM. Here are some screenshot mostly of Zentraedis.
Here is the site:

Macross itself has some specific words for the different types of vehicles:
Human side:
- Battroid (mainly the humanoid form of the Variable Fighters)
- Destroids (humanoid walking tanks)
Zentrādi side:
- Battlesuits (humanoid shaped pods)
- Pods (everything not a Battlesuit)
- Mobile Weapons (all of the above)
So, going back to the OP, the Kerukaria [Quel-Quallie] and Recovery Pod can be referred to as "(Zentrādi) mecha", "(Zentrādi) Mobile Weapons", or "Zentrādi Pods".
I don't know if this was intentionally done. But I notice that almost all the mechanics that are classified as ''Pods'' has a cyclops visior. Except for the re-entry landing craft.

Used literally, the definition is a lot broader than that. Even in Macross Chronicle, you'll find the Mechanic Sheets contain relatively mundane things like conventional aircraft, cars and motorbikes, and even vending machines alongside the more exotic things like space warships and giant robots.
I get that, but if were to put the mechanics that has arms and legs, then the Gnerl and Landingcraft cannot be put in the category of mobile suits? Or can we call a car and motorbikes for mobile suits too? Quel-Quallie scout ship and the Salvage ship have more in common with a Queadluun-rau than a car?

Mecha, in anime, is short-hand for mechanics. Vehicles are considered mechanics in anime. Most artbooks list vehicles in the “mecha” or “mechanics” sections. Cars, planes, trains, tanks, robots, are all mecha. What kind of mecha, as Roy alluded to, depends on how specific you want to get.
I was thinking of vehicles with mechanical arms and legs.

If the show kept the storyline from SDFM pretty much the same, except for the japanese character names changed into english, no Mospeada & Southern Cross involvement and the title is Starship Macross. Would the show have appealed to western audience like ''R'' show did?

DYRL one - yeah.
TV Nousjadeul-Ger reminds me of some steampunk armor/diving suit.
lol I agree, does look like a diving suit. I think the Boddole color theme looks better

They all look pretty terran to me. And honestly, I don't see a huge diffrence between the reguld and glaug. One is very clearly descended from the other.
But if you had to pick one that has a design that stands out from the other mechs, which one would you choose?
-
@uzernaem Just curious, what do you think about the Nousjadeul-Ger? Does it look alien to you?

I think Glaug's proportions (thin, long legs, small torso) make it look somewhat alienish, compared to other chicken-style mecha, like Timber Wolf from Battletech.
That's a great point. The legs have organic design. But the cockpit body is very human-centric made.

The Nousjadeul-ger had a better design in DRYL.
Yes, I liked that design better. The DYRL version is similar to the Queadluun-rau's humanoid insect design. But I'm starting to appreciate the tv-version. It's underrated and I hope future installments will highlight it more.
-
The Regult wins it. The shape and the red cyclops eye reminds me of a bipedal insect. Very insectoid looking.
The Queadluun-rau is a humanoid insect.
The Nousjadeul-ger and Glaug are mechs that can be seen as human-made. The Glaug has a very human-centric mecha design.
The only thing that separates the Nousjadeul-ger from UNS mechs, are it's straight up visior and the large feet. And with it's semi-organic appearance. UNS mechs tends to have a bulky design.

That color scheme is from the Super Dimension Fortress Macross TV series.
http://www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacross/nousjadeul-ger.htm
It was shown among the Boddole Zer main fleet's forces.
Seriously tho, let's leave anything related to the R-word in the rubbish heap of history where it belongs.
I know, but parts of the arms and legs from Macross is still dark grey, while in this comic it's all purple except the feet and hand. Regardless, I've always felt the purple color matches the male suit better than green.

Can somebody give me the official and right description of the Nousjadeul-ger tv version feet? Is it that large like this photo?
In this photo from episode 31 SDFM, it look smaller and more compact

I'm currently working in a Fanfic involving a lot of Fleet combat against "Uncultured" Zentradi and the battle escenes with these guys are pretty intense... they have a lot of weapons and are pretty nimble in the right hands.
Cool! Can't wait to read it!

The movie vers will always be my favourite design, but recently I'm starting to like the tv-version. The penguin feet still annoys me, but in some angles it doesn't look so bad. Maybe the toy figures and some pictures makes the feet bigger than what they are?
Example it looks OK here
The Boldolza suits looks good

That's not the standard Zentradi spacesuit... this is:
That's the general duty Zentradi space suit, variants of which were used in almost every battlefield role including being worn by spacecraft crews.
This is a heavier armored spacesuit meant for hand-to-hand combat issued to the armored divisions. A lightweight variant of it was occasionally used as a pilot suit.
Neither the standard-issue spacesuit nor the armored spacesuit is, in its standard configuration, equipped with flight capability or a powered motion assist.
A variant of the armored spacesuit that appeared in the official setting PS3 game Macross 30: Voices Across the Galaxy WAS presented as a flight-capable powered suit... but it wasn't exactly great in actual combat. (It's basically the weakest enemy unit in the game by a substantial margin, and understandably so as it's basically just an ordinary infantry spacesuit that some idiot put rocket boots on.)
wow I didn't knew such a unit even existed. Thanks for the info. I personally liked it.

I can't say I see much room for fuel, rocket engines, actuators, or reactors in there with the armor being so full of meat. That's an armored space suit, with little room left to be more.
If you "upgrade" that to a power suit by adding fuel tanks and actuators and a power source to turn it into a powered suit, you get the Aliens power loader with this guy as the operator. Enclose the "cockpit" on the power loader, and you basically have a Nousjadeul-Ger again.
True he would look like a Nousjadeul-ger, but more lightweight for shorter distance. Add on exosuit technology on the already armor.

Nah, the Nousjadeul-Ger battle suit is a mass-produced mecha in the Zentradi forces in either version of the story.
From the dates on the art, the Nousjadeul-Ger may have been so late to appear in the Super Dimension Fortress Macross TV series because its design wasn't completed until the series had been on the air for several months.
Ah I see thanks. Btw, a bit off-topic, but could you see the standard Zentradi space suit being upgraded as a medium-armored exosuit? Like a light-weight counterpart to the Nousjadeul-ger? Always felt they look like they already wore a exosuit some sort.
-
We didn't see the Nousjadeul-ger suits in SDFM that much compared to DYRL?. So does that mean in the tv-show, it wasn't mass-produced, and only used for special missions? While in DYRL?, they were just a standard suit/mecha like the Regult pods?
If Michael Bay was announced as a new director for a SDFM live-action movie.
