After I got hands on the 31AX, I have to say, the 31 line are better.

What's wrong with the 31AX? This is the second time I've read something about this.. Is there a thread somewhere I'm too lazy to look for myself that I can read up on?

  2. Thank you @takatoys. I wish I had seen these earlier when I was still building it. Instead, I tried Hachette's method of sanding down the landing gear doors and that didn't help all that much. I'll save your video so if/when I have time to take apart my VF-1 and fix this.

Also, since I'm lazy, I'm hoping that the Strike Set comes with a new controller that doesn't open/close the landing gear at all and instead gives us a different automated sequence to mess around with.

Edit: I was able to see your movie on my phone the first time. Now that I'm trying to save it I can't seem to get to it anymore.

Is there a general consensus on what's the best lighting for detolfs?

Also do you guys put more than one 1/60 scale Valk on the same shelf in dynamic poses?

I went with Luke Light and got a V-Shape bracket and diffuser. It worked pretty well but you'll end up paying more for lighting than the detolf itself. There isn't a whole lot of room in a Detolf to have your figures in dynamic poses but you might be able to to make it work with acrylic risers and flight stands.

  4. Yeah. I don’t see any incentive to buy this if you already have a SoC version. There just isn’t enough here to differentiate it. Perhaps if they weathered it or made a legendary defender version I might consider it but as is it’s a pass for me.

I’m happy for anyone in the market for a classic Voltron though. If you hold out long enough you might be able to get any of these (Blirzway, ThreeZero, or SoC) at a sale price.

by the way. ThreeZero is also dipping into the Robotech (Harmony Gold licensed) market. I hope these two products aren’t missteps for them because their Robo-Dou line is fantastic.

Is ThreeZero and the Robo-Dou line a good company and line? I’m not familiar with them.

Good. But I wouldn't say recent SOC good.

Interesting. I've been really happy with my Patlabor and Shin Getter Robo-Dou with size, presence, diecast content, tightness of joints and articulation. They all come with a basic stand and limited accessories.

Bandai's SoC has been great for number of accessories, a stand or accessory holder either built into a stand or separate and great name plate. They have great attention to detail but metal content and articulation are a bit lacking to me. I'm not that happy with the recent Getter Arc or Getter G as they contain more plastic than metal. Also, while SoC Voltron has been the definitive version of toy thus far, I've been disappointed with how floppy it's legs are due to how much diecast the Blue and Yellow lions have. I don't think you could pose SoC Voltron as well as what I'm seeing from from ThreeZero and have it hold the pose.

  6. There's so many Gundams in the UC universe that I would love a Metal Build version of. Zeta, Double Zeta, Sentinel, Stardust Memory, Alex NT-1. I'd eat all that up with no hesitation. Even GMs , Zakus, and Doms. I think those are the only ones I'd buy multiple variants of since they had legitimate specific purpose variants to begin with. Please, no more obscure manga crap to justify repaints/reiterations of the same mold.

No , we need them to finish the 00 series with a Kyrios , virtue , Nadleh or Dynames sniper version.

with our luck the turds at Bandai are going to release the basic Strike for the 6th time. Meanwhile I’m still over here waiting for an MB Heavy Arms, DeathScythe or 8th MS set

But if we follow Bandai's current release logic, they still have to release 5 variants of Dynames before we see anything new in the 00 series. I'm not willing to hold out that long.

The CCSToys Shin Getter 1 article and gallery is up on Kuma Style: Link in sig.

Article breaks it down in depth but final score is 9.5/10.

Here are some pics from the gallery section:

Thank you! I was really looking forward to your thoughts on this! Now that I have it in hand, I think it's fantastic figure with great articulation and light gimmicks, however, I can't seem to get over the colors CCSToys used. It comes off as more orange/red and brown/red than hot rod red/dark red especially when I compare it to the other Shin Getters I have. Is it just me? Am I the only one bothered by it?

  9. I’m not sure how I feel about this Reideen. I’m getting an Egyptian samurai vibe with this one and I can’t tell if that’s a good thing or not.  I already have an over stylized Fewture version and would prefer to see a new release that looks closer to the original version with some infinitism elements added to it to modernize it a bit.

  10. Bluefin just posted that they will be distributing the Hi-Nu so now I'm just waiting on more US retailers to sell it. I'll probably cancel my HLJ pre-order if I can snag one in the US with free shipping and no tax.

Also, USAGundamStor just opened their PO for those still looking:
