  1. So a carrier based on Andromeda wasn't something new to 2202, all the way back to the planning of Resurrection in 1993 there were designs for it.

IIRC this was done by Kobayashi.  Do you prefer this version or the one we got?

  2. :D

The Yamato 2202 official site finally updated the character and mechanics pages, though amusingly they left out the Dreadnought.

Here's the mechanical pages.  Character pages whenever I feel like.  The usual Google translate disclaimers apply.

    img_mecha_10.png

    Two type space maneuvering armor
A small humanoid mobile weapon invented by Space Cavalry Saito at the beginning, a mechanism simpler than the aircraft was able to produce short term at Yamato Ship Inner Factory. Armed with cannon cannon built in both arms, pulsed laser cannon equipped on both shoulder, has hard parts in each part that can be equipped with aircraft weapons. Fly with the high power thrusters on the back, you can move the ground at high speed with the crawler travel unit at the tip of both legs.

Space Fighting Fighter DWG 262 <Zwarke> Embassy Dedicated Specialized Machine
Gamirasu's resident military officer, Klaus Keeman's special aircraft. Characteristic of being given a pattern of gyamiras style on the platinum body. In addition to normal weapons, special explosives (EMP torpedoes that generate electromagnetic pulses) were installed. We joined Yamato heading to the Terrazato star, and we decided to act together.

    img_mecha2_2.png

    Neu Deausura
Based on the core ship escaped from Deusura II in the final phase of the game against Yamato, the destructor ship built with Gatlantis. In addition to Desuller cannon, it is equipped with a material transfer system [Instant substance transfer machine], and it can suspend a large number of Gorland gigantic missiles with electromagnetic pylon equipped on the ship's bottom. Moreover, it has a stable wave control institution which is not influenced from any space, and it is the existence which it can be said that it is also an alter ego of Deserr, exceeding the categorization of the existing aerial vessel.
    Length:
730 meters (excluding front armor plate)
    Weapons:
    90mm quadruple positron beam turret x 7
    330mm triple positron beam turret x 4
    torpedo launch tubes x 13

    img_mecha3_8.png

    Needle slave
An autonomous miniature weapon made by copying the mechanized soldier skills obtained from Gamirasu scientific slaves. Deform from flight form to semi-human type ground battle form, and perform interpersonal · objective attack with needle gun equipped in both cup parts. In the form of a dagger-like flight, it is attached to the aircraft's bomb rack and transported, as well as the torpedo launch tube can be injected. The back of the detachable armor plate at the bottom of the aircraft is a beam reactive armor capable of bouncing enemy positron energy.
    Main weaponry:
three triple needle guns × 2

So it's quite obvious the Neo Deusura has a lot more weapons than shown.  Unfortunately given its length (730 meters without the front armor plate, whatever that means), it's unlikely we'll get a 1/1000 model.  Bandai's probably not gonna make another Zoelguut-length model that's also wider, to my forever disappointment.  Maybe we'll get a better idea if/when they release the mechanics art book.

Dengeki Hobby has some bigger preview images from the 2202 website: http://hobby.dengeki.com/news/485199/

The Neo Deusura's shown to hold 15 "Gorland missiles" on the underside just as the info page said, so that's a pretty hefty armament especially when it can SMITE them right into your face.

Speaking of which, upon closer inspection those Gostok swords are also part mace, since it looks like it has a hexagonal structure from the front.  Glad we see the Gostok carrying different armament, though not exactly what I was expecting.  The sword-maces more or less double the Gostok's length, and presumably use the usual missiles as propulsion if it's meant to be launched.

I don't know why, but the mechs hitching a ride on the Cosmo Tiger II booster is amusing.  I don't think that's how they're usually meant to be transported.  They also seem to be mounting Cosmo Tiger II missiles on their back

Any place to download the dubbed versions? hoping to get my young daughter into this.  How far along with the dubbed versions are they?  At what rate are they coming out and is there going to be an eventual Bluray release?

Funimation is releasing the official dubbed episodes online every week.  You need an account with them to view the newest ones, but they'll release the episode to the general public in 1 or 2 weeks.  Currently they've done up to episode 2.  No news on the bluray yet.

Can't wait for the sub, but can someone explain to me why Gatlantis has this insanely complex plan instead of just bumrushing Earth with that crazy fleet.  If Zordar is indeed some kind of weirdo sociopath, I think he missed the main lessons from school.  May be he was dropped on his head when he was little.

The sub is on Crunchryoll right now.

Just noticed that it looks like this is a windowed release. Only having 2 episodes available to watch at a time.  If anyone was waiting for all the episodes to air before subscribing, like I was, we may not want to do that. :(

Wow they just can't release this conpetantly can they. I'd prefer robbing watch this and not watch it week to week with older episodes going way.

I understand it takes time to dub, that’s not the issue. The issue is that it appears that only 2 episodes at a time will EVER be available ie the current one and the previous weeks. Anything older will no longer be available.

Example would be Ep’s 11 and 12 but 1-10 are not.

Look at their release schedule and you’ll see

    Chris

Uh, that's not how that works?  If you look at the other stuff even though it says things like "episodes 3-12", "episode 3", and "episodes 2-3" they still have all episodes starting from episode 1.  There's literally no point in releasing the way you've described as it goes against the point of having these streaming services.

  7. Someone posted a short summary on Twitter.  Spoilering.

    Source

    >The Gatlantis ships form a cannon that will fire the artificial sun at Earth with the power of a supernova. Kodai ends up using the hadou cannon to stop them (shoots the sun and doesn’t harm the Gatlantis ships at all). Also Yuki stowed away on Yamato.
    >Yamato unloads the refugees onto some Gamilas ships which also hand Kamiya stuff which he can use to sabotage the Yamato’s reactor. Gamilas rebels show up and attack with planet bombs which cause the planet to collapse. Kodai confronts the Gatlantis emperor who reveals that there are Zambot-esque human bombs among the refugees and wants Kodai to choose one of the three ships which he’ll save, he’ll blow up the others
    >Kodai is about to choose the one with Yuki on it but she jumps off the ship saying choosing would break Kodai. He yells that he chooses none so the emperor detonates all the human bombs. But they only blow up the ship reactors (no actual damage but the ships will get caughtin the planet’s collapse). Hijikata stops the collapse with the hadou cannon and everyone lives.
    > Brainwashing space fireflies make the crew fight. Doctor and Analyzer kill them with bug spray. Also Okita’s ghost appears to Kodai. Kodai apologises for using the cannon and Okita says “nah man it’s cool shoot it all you want”
    >Dessler shows up in post credits where Gatlantis emperor gives him fleet to attack Yamato. Next chapter preview has his ship.
    >Kamiya seems to be a secret VIP - He gets a bunch of moments with Akira
    >Suspicious lady is a Gatlantis spy or something (no crap) but she seems to feel guilty when saying goodbye to the little Gamilas girl (Because the refugees were supposed to die), (She also remains on the ship after the other refugees leave, Saitou’s group too. Also Hijikata who turned out to be fine and was rescued)
    >Not much in the way of plot compared to previous chapters, last episode this time is practically filler.
    >Nothing with the people left on Earth except one unimportant offhand reference to Niimi.

  8. First 12 minutes of chapter 3!

So the Gatlantis watched 2199 too?  Would love to see their live reactions. :p

Anyway, them knowing about what the Yamato did explains why they'd be dedicating a lot of effort to take it out.   You don't want the a ship that took down an empire running around when you're nearby.  It looks like the Gatlantis got their idea for using the artificial sun as a weapon from, ironically, Yamato during the Battle of Balun.  It also seems like the Calakmul destroyed themselves firing the big blast at Yamato in episode 6, which would fit the Gatlantis MO.

Thank you for posting the pics. I really like some of the lines they added. Will have to get this one to keep the 1/1000 Andromeda cmpany. Now if only they'd make a 1/500 Andromeda to go with the big Yamato kit... Has anyone heard anything about any concept art or even just general art books for Yamato 2202?

It's a bit too early for that.  Those kinds of things only pop up after the series finished production.

The 2199 Earth and Gamilas art books are still out there as well as the Hyper Mechanical Detail art books.

  10. Kobayashi gave out the length for the patrol cruiser and the Kisaragi freighter; 188 meters and 220 meters respectively.  Drew up a size comparison using the original series patrol cruiser.

Which wouldn't leave much for ship production, which makes one wonder where that fleet of Kongos came from in 2202 ep 1? At the end of 2199, there was only the Kirishima and the Yamato and maybe a few other ships. (Unless there is some other medium that reveals a fleet being built in secret.)

So, a fleet from nothing is not new for SBY 2202. I would hope that there is a good explanation for the sudden surge in ship strength, but even if not, I'll accept it anyway!

Yes actually.  Putting everything in spoilers for those who want to wait for subs.

    Spoiler

The time fault generated by the Cosmo Reverse System allowed Earth to produce tons of ships in a comparatively small amount of time.  The difference in time is 10-1, so while 3 years passed in real time, 30 have passed in the time fault.  Everything is automated in the time fault factory as human can only survive 1 hour inside the time fault even with special protective suits.  This is all explained in episode 3.

    As for harder numbers:

    • Five years (inside the bubble) was spent understanding how the time fault worked (six months in the outside world)
    • Ten years was required to assemble the shipyard (one year in the outside world).
    • All of the ships we see inside and outside the bubble have taken fifteen years inside the fault, or eighteen months outside it. This includes the Kongo and Murasame-style ships we see at the 8th Floating Continent. That all the ships we see there have a serial number suffixed with "-2201" whereas Andromeda and the other wave-motion ships are all suffixed with "-2202" would be consistent with this timeframe.

The Andromedas (six complete) and Dreadnoughts (at least 24 complete) were all built in 2202, meaning they collectively took up to ten years of elapsed time to build, which when you consider they built Yamato in 1-2 years tops is somewhat underachieving.

So significantly more explanation than in the original series, where the EDF conjured up fleets of completely new designs in a single year along with rebuilding the Earth with no explanation.

For some reason that headsculpt really annoys me.  Just saw Arizona on Yamato 3 and I showed my Dad he thought it was amusing.  I really hope the ship shows up sometime.

I like it, especially after what the fancomic Bolar Wars Extended did with it.  Would be a long while before it appears, if they ever do 2199's version of season 3.
